The 1914 Doctrine is complete and utter bollocks from start to finish, start = 607 BCE which has been totally discredited as a date for the destruction of Jerusalem, King neb. was not even ruling then ! It has been proven by several methods that are irrefutable evidence that the destruction the Org. refers to happened in 587 BCE.
The middle idea of the "Prophecy" is bollocks too, no way can you extrapolate 2520 years from Daniel 4 anyway, it is a total fantasy brain-fart idea by William Miller in the early 19th Century, a farm boy and amateur Bible interpreter.
The End, if you start from the proper year, you are in a year when nothing happened of any significance, 1934.
They are stuck with 1914, because : No 1914 = No 1919 Choosing by Jesus = Today's G.B are self-appointed Charlatans.

" for your education today, the term "etc" is the abbreviation for the latin term "et cetera.

On the matter of fudging figures, why do they say "239 Lands" ? I know they list various Territories , but these are not "Lands", there are only 195 Lands in the World.
Again, J.W Org. has its own unique, and wrong, definition of a word. It occurs to me that this is a way of fooling the R&F JW's in to thinking the label they attach to funds "spent" of Worldwide Work is actually literal, when of course, there are many places with very few J.W's, and probably some with none.
Thank you Ray for the O.P. and to all for the other comments since. This Report does nothing to convince me they are doing well in any way, unless you just look at the bald percentage increases and compare with other religious groups with no analysis, and it has done nothing to convince me that the Org. is not moribund.

this topic i digress about why the watchtower relaxing the rules of disfellowship is essential for its survival.
many things i'm going to say are not my ideas, some are, the point is, i'm condensing everything in a logical and concise way.. the first thing we have to keep in mind is that the wt's main objective in instituting disfellowship has always been not to lose members because of the damage that a dissident could do, or to avoid gaining new members because of the bad reputation of a confessed sinner in the his/her region.
in the end, the more active members, the more money to the coffers.. in this case of disfellowship due to apostasy, to avoid any spark, texts were sought out of context that even prohibited saying "hi".

So very true ! Long before I woke up and left, I said to a JW "I get a better welcome in so-and-so than I do in the K.H. In the place I referred to, everybody said "hello" and chatted and asked after my welfare, some in the K.H could not even be arsed to say "Good Morning".
The trouble is, you don't realise this fully until you leave.
Tinkering at the edges of the various things that are systemically wrong with J.W org, be it DFing or whatever, will not stop the steady flow of those leaving IMO.

Agreed ThomasMore, when I left all those years ago, having been from a well known family of Special Pioneers, Elders etc. etc, and having myself been well known in my Circuit and beyond, with a reputation for lots of Field Service, and being the very best of meeting attenders, it was a shock to many.
The time they spent, and the mental gymnastics they went through to find a reason, was a delight and a real laugh to see !
As there was no "sin", they eventually came up with the rumour that I had left to start my own religion ! When I heard that, I laughed and said "What a great idea ! There's $$$ in that ! ".
Of course, they could not admit to themselves that the reason was I had discovered that it was not "the truth", and worse, that it was founded upon, and maintained by lies.
