Quality of jw.org translation?

Even FF had no formal training in Hebrew or Greek, he said so in Court.

The NWT has always been a "Version", never a Translation as it claims to be, they simply have never had any properly trained or properly accredited Scholar/s involved at any point.

Having said that, F.Franz had a fearsome Intelligence, and the Autistic person's ability to concentrate fully on his work, and he did very well, with simply using other already published Versions, and Bible Dictionaries etc. but of course, his weird beliefs coloured the final NWT, as such beliefs do to this day, in each iteration that comes out.

im not sure ive ever seen a more cringe-worthy exchange than between david splane and his good buddy 'socky'.. socky told us the story that he read the book 'what has religion done for mankind?

' (1951) when he was 10 and he 'knew' it was the truth.

You are correct 3rdgen, that is why the expression "The Society" was used for the org. so much, and probably still is by Old Socky !

It is of great sadness to me that at the same age , not year , as Socky a ten year old me read the old late 1950's "Daniel" Book, but I began to question how they could suddenly change the meanings they had taught for years, and even at that age could not accept the fanciful stuff that no doubt came mainly from the pen of that strange man , Fred Franz.

I never stopped rejecting the fanciful stuff, but my sadness comes from the fact I should have taken my questioning further, and woken up and left as a young man, instead of a middle aged one !

All of those Interviews sound so false , contrived, and the stuff said by the interviewee so Syrupy and made up, hence insincere.

Probably fairly accurate as to the quality of their normal Literature when translated.

One problem with this is that though a literal translation of a W.T Article may be an accurate one, what was written in English was often a strange way of expressing things to the speaker of another tongue, so their Translation work is not as good as that done by Professional Translators, well versed in the language being translated in to.

Of course it is a different matter when you look at their NWT Bible. This is a poor Bible Version in many respects, but is outright dishonest in many of its renderings, which they "bend" to support their Doctrines and Teachings, and to subtly exert "Mind Control" in some instances.

How is any of this truly "Extra-Biblical" ? I have not got the time to watch the Video, or the will, but from your comments there is nothing from outside of the Gospels etc. apart perhaps from the musings of the Video maker.

Prediction: no more changes for a long while

i’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.

so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.

maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

An ex-JW who runs a business near where I live has for many years called the Org. "The Social Club", he has long recognised that the majority of J.W's are only still in it for social reasons.

Now they have much more personal freedom,and can question each other, and discuss their doubts, no doubt more flies will drop.

When the G.B realises this is happening, and new converts are almost non-existent, they will HAVE to make some more moves !

When JW.org drops 607BCE...

probably everyone else thought of this long ago, but i, being an "independent thunker" thunk of it just a coupla weeks ago.. we all know that since the year zero (on the fredfranzian calendar) the wtb&ts has defied archaeology and insisted that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, even though the physical evidence shows that 587 bce is a more likely date.

in fact, the book "the gentile times reconsidered: have jehovah's witnesses been wrong all along about 607 bce?

" by carl olof jonsson and rud persson made this conversation public.. it is a difference of 20 years.

As I said the Org. is a Totalitarian Regime, and Orwell was writing about how quickly that comes about. And the methods used to establish that Regime.

Another parallel perhaps, if a little subtle maybe, is at the end of "Animal Farm" the Pigs could not be Distinguished from the former enemy , the Men.

As tho org. goes mainstream , surely that will become true ? what they formerly called the enemy, "False religion", will be indistinguishable from them.

" in fact they're clientele base are dropping like flies." True ! which is why I think they will not delay in going more Mainstream for very long. They have a Cash Flow Problem, only by retaining as many R&F JW's in the rich Countries can they begin to solve the problem of $$$ in some measure.

The odd Convert may be possible too, they are certainly hoping so, hence all the pushing of "Bible" Studies, which are really Indoctrination and Mind Control Sessions.

Follow the Money always, to understand their every move.

Not just Archaeology, but a study of the Babylonian Astronomical Tablets establish without doubt that 587 BCE, (or possibly 586 but that is doubtful) IS the date that King Neb. destroyed Jerusalem.

The Stars do not lie ! Confirmed by NASA too.

2034 is vey close, they may give themselves more time by dropping the laughable, and verging on the insane, Eisegetical interpretation of " Daniel " altogether, and just concentrating on "We must be well in to the End Times", "because of the Signs of The Times", again a mad, and ignorant, interpretation of Scripture,but much beloved by Evangelical Christians and others.

The Albatross around their neck of 1914 will be dropped....eventually.

The more pressing thing in their effort to become a bit more mainstream is the Blood Doctrine, they may put that first on their To Do List.

Yes, the Booze could be used against Tony, hypocritically probably.

But whether he did come up with the idea for the "New Windmill" of changes we have seen we will never know I expect.

I think if we keep looking more parallels will occur to us, Comrade Enuffsky !
