  i would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .

  and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

  Gay MS??

  about me, i am being raised in a jw family.

  all of my family expect for one aunt, who had left but not disfellowedshiped thankly, are in jw.

  my father is an elder and so is my grandfather.

  Hi Andysmiles and welcome. There are a number of gay exJWs here, so I'm sure you'll find some help and understanding here.

  It's all so simple in JW land. You are born gay, grow up gay and then are expected to click your fingers and become straight overnight. It's like telling smeone who's straight that they have to become gay.

  I've read some truly heartbreaking stories of young gay JWs who are desperately struggling with their homosexuality, some to the point of depression and suicide because they can't cope with the guilt.

  Being a gay JW there's only three ways to go. 1) You give up any thoughts of ever having a loving intimate relationship with anyone. 2) You live a double life 3) You get out and make complete break and live a life of your own but knowing you will be shunned. Not much of a choice is it?

  Stick around here and share your problems. No one will ever judge you on here.

  i'm on the brink of publishing my book.

  here are some survey questions that will help me make some important decisions.. if you were ever going to actually buy a book about an ex-jehovah's witness conscientious objector who went to prison, would you:.

  a. prefer the book to be 8 1/2 x 11 ?.

  I definitely prefer e-books for exJW writings, so I don't leave anything lying around for still in JW relatives to find. Having said that.. perhaps I ought to! LOL

  I love reading other's experiences and would buy it like a shot. Not sure what price I'd pay.. just average novel price I guess.

  That was the book that did it for me. Before I read it, it was just out of curiosity and wanting to know what went on behind closed doors in Bethel headquarters. Once I'd read it, I realised I now had the real truth about 'the truth'. That was it for me.

  Great to hear you Brock... it's a brilliant book and I loved reading it! I always love reading other people's experiences and especially when there's humour.

  My favourite bit has to be the movie night with Mickey Mouse the GB's favourite cartoon sorcerer... maybe that's where Sparlock evolved from.. LOL

  The New Diary of Winston Smith

  we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

  fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

  i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

  How I see it in JW land

  they're tired... sooooo soooo tired.

  they know it's all wrong but they keep telling themselves how wonderful it is.

  almost as if they are trying to convince themselves.

  They're tired... sooooo soooo tired. They know it's all wrong but they keep telling themselves how wonderful it is. Almost as if they are trying to convince themselves. They don't really want to go out knocking on doors. They get themselves into automatic robotic mode so they can do it. They go to meetings but most of them miss loads. Those that go regularly are in robotic mode. It seems they don't really believe what they are being told. In my cong. both the WT overseer and his assistant are on holiday for the 'new light' WT. My elder hubby thinks that half the cong will be away for it.. why? 'Because nobody likes that sort of thing'... (his words). So many of my friends have gone from auxiliary pioneering regularly, pre studying for meetings, giving talks, commenting, regular meeting attendance.... to... nothing. Or as little as possible.... and not even feeling bad about it. Those that do feel bad about it have hundreds of 'reasons' why they are not doing anything...

  And it's becoming infectious.....

  Winston.. could your wife hide her friend list? Then only mutual friends will be able to see each other and if she befriends anyone else it won't show on her timeline. In the friend box there's a little pencil that is highlighted in the top right corner. If she clicks it she can choose the privacy settings from it.

  okay people i have a new video that some of you may be interested in- i believe it is the only one of its kind online.

  three elders meet with a young female that knows ttatt and is trying to get back into the jws for family reasons.

  the audio also includes the three elders disagreeing and deliberating after she is dismissed from the room and then when they call her back in.

  Caleb's Airplane.. people get reinstated because they need their family and it's the only way. The same reason someone stays in knowing it's all wrong.

  It's easy for someone to say it's going back into a birdcage (with a cat in it) but what is the alternative if you want your much loved family back... a family that is under mind control? How else are you also going to try to get them out of the birdcage?
