When I was younger I enjoyed reading thrillers. I've always enjoyed reading history books, particularly of my own country. These days I enjoy reading books from the best seller list. I've noticed recently that my favourite books at the moment are life stories. I'm not so interested in the autobiographies of famous people but of ordinary people who have an amazing story to tell.
So, what are your favourite books to read?

What I can't understand is with those that say this place is no good. That it's full of people arguing and hurling insults etc etc...
THEN WHAT ARE THEY DOING HERE??!!
If I didn't like this place then I would find another website that I did like. What is the point in coming on here and saying 'I hate this place!'?
To the people that don't like it.... Go away and find somewhere else!!

Political correctness. What is it to you?
by Hortenzie ini see it as a form of discrimination against non mainstream ideas and opinions.
that's why i don't understand why so many hold it as of a great value.
what do you think?.

Hortenzie.. that's a good article too. I like this point someone made...
'So mr.klotz can paint his face green to be Shrek but he can't paint it to be Mr.T? Ridiculous... #SaveKlotz2013,' wrote Twitter user 'ChiefKeeif.'
It's just taken too far. However I think the incident of the guy making himself up as the young murder victim Trayvon Martin was in extremely bad taste. There needs to be some kind of real balance.

I think spelling and grammar is important in a book, journalistic article or website etc. It is not important on a multi-national forum.
So what? Everybody makes mistakes all the time. Even those who pride themselves on their spelling/grammar. I've noticed lots of mistakes on here by people. Most often it is by people using phones (very easy to hit the wrong key or have the predictive text mess it up). Or by people for whom English is not their mother tongue. For those who are English speakers from infancy, imagine how hard it is to think and to write in another language! Try putting your thoughts down in French, Spanish, Italian, German. If you're not bi-lingual, you will find it very difficult to do without making a mistake.
Then there's the slang, the differences between cultures, the writing styles and the differences in spelling between British English, American English and Australian English. As well as the dialectual differences within those.
Also, what if someone has dyslexia? They've had to battle with a learning difficulty that the rest of us don't even comprehend!
My conclusion is, it doesn't matter about spelling and grammar on this board. What matters is the thoughts that are produced and shared.

Being in a religion where everyone thinks the same, acts the same, dresses the same, behaves the same.... it is refreshing to come to a place where everyone disagrees, fights it out, argues and disrespects each other's beliefs.
Sometimes I come on here and see all the arguements between believers and non believers and think 'Oh no... not again'... groooooan. I feel frustrated and go off and read all the threads that have nothing to do with it. Yet at the end of the day, I'm glad about it because we are all finding our own identity, finding our freedom, freedom of mind, freedom of spirit and that's priceless.
I'm a believer but have actually have become rather fond of many of the atheists on board... As was said on another thread about the differences between men and women 'Vive la différence!'

A Faders Guide to Field Service
by pronomono inas a fader, i'm working on a mental guide to field service.
because most of this is a mental exercise realizing that your new knowledge, the mental side of things, is what makes it so hard to preach after learning ttatt.
what presentations have you used in field service as a fader to preach the good news without preaching jw propaganda?.

I don't go in the first call any more. I just do RVs with the magazines to calls that have had them for years and years (no intentions of taking it any further). I just pass the time of day with them, maybe just show a single non doctrinal verse in the bible. Soon I may just quit altogether when I feel the time is right.

Just imagine a real R&F JW reading this thinking he's stumbled across a pro-WT website... and then that horrible, uncomfortable feeling comes over him as he's reading it.... finally realising with what feels like a punch in the stomach that he's just read .... Shock! Horror!... something apostate! LOL
Let's hope they feel sick about the real truths they've stumbled across...

Very clever website... I like this they wrote about Satire.....
"Friends, we have been accused of satire, and we need to address this issue. Most of the accusations come from apostates, and of course we don’t read anything an apostate has to say so we ignore those. But when our dear brothers and sisters started questioning us, we knew we had to clarify some things."
They then go into what satire is and why they wouldn't use it... then say this:-
"Friends, accusations are very serious things. We know how Jehovah feels about a false accuser, so care must be taken whenwe accuse others. We are just like you. We love Jehovah. We anxiously await the bloody slaughter of seven billion men, women, children and babies. We would allow our children to die painful, preventable deaths rather than treat them with blood. We go to the elders before we go to the police when we have evidence of sexual molestation. We fear Smurfs. We avoid independent thinking disguised as critical thinking. We shun when Jehovah says shun, even if it means we throw our unprepared children out onto the streets or let our parents die alone after they have sacrificed their entire lives for us.
We eschew too much worldly education for fear it will hone our thinking ability too much and lead us away from Jehovah. Instead, we are educated by Jehovah and have the equivalent of a university degree from what we learn in the literature. We don’t offer toasts or throw rice at weddings, and we see the distinction between these pagan practices and wearing wedding rings and white wedding dresses. We trust every single word the Society tells us, and we know anyone that would present evidence against them is just a mentally diseased, lying, bitter, hateful apostate!
We are just like you. We are part of the most loving and happiest family on earth. We would never partake of the unclean, dishonest, evil practice of Satire"
LOL!! :D
