What I would like to know is where the WTs idea of the Great Crowd/Other Sheep came from? I know that during Russells time they believed that there were two classes going to heaven, then out of no where it seemed that a 'Jonadab' class was going to live on earth and they eventually became known as the Great Crowd of Other Sheep. How did this happen? Do you know where this idea started and why?

consider this my small weekend contribution to the cause of real truth.
any jw who has been one for a while, or a born in, knows the regard that pioneers, elders, bethelites and missionaries have.
They talk about 'present truths', 'new light' etc. But surely the truth is the truth and it cannot change. Only lies can be changed to fit.
If something is 'new light' now, then the 'old light' has been discarded and replaced. Yet at one time that also was 'new light'. It is all totally illogical.
We are told to 'wait on Jehovah' if something we are told to believe doesn't make sense (like the overlapping generation). But why would Jehovah allow something so ridiculous to be taught if he was 'feeding' us through his 'earthly channel'?
And something that hit me hard was Luke 21:8 "many will come on the basis of my name saying 'I am he' and 'The due time has approached'. Do not go after them"
i've been putting together what the bible 'really' teaches and not trying to put together what i want it to teach.
just a few interesting things which seem to flow through all of the prophet books............ first for israel had a curse if they didn't follow yahweh, deut 28:15-68 fortells what will happen.
it culminated with them being surrounded by their enemies and cut off and such ferocity that they would do cannibalism, mothers eating children and such.
I've just finished reading 'the Fall of Jerusalem' by Josephus and all the things Jesus foretold happened. Josephus was an eyewitness to it all (even though he was not a christian). The points you make are very interesting but I'm sure I have read similar ideas to these before.

i thought i should introduce myself as i have been reading your various threads.

at the meeting today the wt had a paragraph about certain ones breaking away from the church because the church's doctrines didn't match the bible, some were excommunicated, some imprisoned, some executed.. of course they were held up to be lovers of god, true christians... if i was to do the same thing i would be held up as an apostate.... and excommunicated...... i wish sometimes i had the same courage as those ones.....
Yes, I twigged that connection too. I've noticed with a number of articles that seem ok on the surface till you start digging deep. Those articles on 607BCE for instance.. on the surface seemed to prove the point, it only took a little digging (which most JWs won't do) to realise it was all a whitewash and it led nowhere. It would leave most JWs convinced 607 is correct!

Wannabefree.. they just can't see it can they? It's so frustrating! All the things they say against the catholic church and they can't see it about themselves!

I believe certain evidences of a major flood of some kind, myths and legends seem to indicate that it actually happened. I believe the bible account but not that it covered the whole globe. The fact that most marsupials are limited to Australia proves to me that it was limited. But mammoths caught with vegetation in their mouths encased in ice prove to me that a limited flood occurred.

Welcome Mediator007, I think from the way you speak that you would enjoy the jwstruggle website. It's a good place for ones who still believe the basic doctrines of JWs but have some serious misgivings over the role that the GB play over christian lives and the way it tries to take the place of Jesus himself. Like you I have read both of Ray Franz's books and he impressed me so much. In my mind he was a true christian.
