Universal Sovereignty Doctrine, re-examined.
by Knowsnothing inhey all.
what do you guys think about the issue of universal sovereignty?
that was one of the doctrines i thought i would never doubt in, but looking into it more, there are a lot of holes in it.

I find the WTS idea of a 'Universal Sovereignty' to be another one of those 'let's tie everyone up in knots with our intelligence and wordiness'. To me it's all about faith and love. Adam and Eve lost theirs. Abraham on the other hand was a beautiful example of both faith and love. There's a simplicity in this. After all God is love. Satan put doubts in man's heart. If mankind wants to reject God, hate him or simply disbelieve that he exists and do their own thing, they live by that choice. He rejoices in those that love him and want to worship him with love in their hearts. I don't believe it has anything to do with any 'legal' stuff, rightness or wrongness. It's choice.

What apostates fail to recognize is...
by nananana inyou can cut & paste all the excerpts from articles you want...you can leak all the boe letters, you can pretend to be witnesses and come to the conventions and meetings...but.
no other organization can begin to rival the success and magnitude of the prophecy found in mt 24:14. so apostates....don't waste your time spending countless hours digging up articles and reading books to convince yourself to turn away from jh's organization.
no matter what "evidence" you find you cannot ignore the obvious fulfillment of matthew 24:14.. .

Read Luke 21:8
Jesus says clearly not to follow those who say the 'time has approached' (come near, is at hand)
One book I know of written in my lifetime by the WTS was called 'God's Kindom of a thousand years has approached' another one written by Russell called 'the time is at hand'. I would rather follow Christ as my leader rather than man.
We have been told so many time that 'this Generation will not pass away' .. (just look at the cover of the May 15th 1984 WT)... well guess what.. it has. So now they have to have 2 overlapping generations so that it can be stretched to fit. If you can't see it then you are blind! Jesus told the Pharisees they were blind guides leading the blind.
Jesus himself was an apostate. His disciples were apostates. Paul was an apostate. Did they have God's disfavour? Think about it.

my DF-ing letter - opinions
by raxxxx into the body of elders in xxxxx.. .
i no longer wish to recognised as one of the jehovah's witnesses due to the fact that i no longer believe that this 'organisation' is truly representing him because :.
i have experienced greater and unconditional love/friendship with the people i am supposed to hate 'worldly people' than i did in this congregation.

You do realise by sending this letter you will be shunned by everyone as if you were disfellowshipped? If you are alone or your family is behind you on this then I expect you could deal with it. You will need some kind of support system outside of the WTS, friends and family or it could be a very lonely place. All the best!

I only know about my own husband who is an elder and it is because he genuinely loves the brothers and wants to do his best to help them. There may be many who do it for the 'prestige' it gives them but I'm sure there are just as many like him.

Who here likes Eurovision?
by TimothyT inhey guys.. for those of you in europe, australia and even usa if you know it, who likes the eurovision song contest?
its great!!!
40 or so singers from all different countries all come together for a massive show where they all sing their song for 3 mins and then move on for the next singer.

I've always loved it! It is totally cheesy and some truly awful songs sometimes and the voting is a farce but it's brilliant! You can always guarantee certain countries will vote for other countries, sometimes a country with no points at all on the board with a truly awful song will suddenly get a 12 because another country loves them. I also love the way in the UK whoever has presented it, Terry Wogan or Graham Norton it has always been very typically (for us Brits) tongue in cheek. Love it!

Life is in the blood?
by sinis inhowever, at conception (life) blood is not present until much later as the fetus developes.
blood is an organ.
now if "life" starts without blood, then is life really in blood?.

sorry for the empty post. I was on the wrong browser.
jwfacts. I know there is 'new light' on this. A few years ago they changed it. Question from Readers. Not sure how long ago but I remember reading it and having one of those 'Yes! I knew I was right about this!' moments.
Anyway, the problem here is that they have totally misunderstood this scripture. If a man killed a man then his life was forfeit, he had to pay with his life. If a man killed an animal, his life was not forfeit, he didn't have to pay with his own life. But he did have to pour the animals blood onto the ground recognising that animal's life came from God. The blood is merely a symbol of the life and not the life itself. With transfusions this becomes pointless because the blood is taken from a living person, no-one has to die.
