Terry, that's a really interesting observation as that's exactly how I first reacted and still do if I hear stuff like that from the platform or read it in the magazines. Fortunately I have been able to hide it from members of the congregation and my husband believes I have the right to read what I choose and believe what I want and as long as I don't go spreading it around who's going to know? Now I do try and 'keep my cool' and be balanced. I don't tell anyone else what they should believe or do but then neither can anyone tell me that either.
i know it is a big ask but i have a personal message in german that i need to translate into english.
tried the online translators and they are good but there are some important nuances i think i am missing.

My elder husband knows I've read these books.. he knows I read apostate websites and particiapte on apostate forums (like this one)...and he hasn't dobbed me in to anyone...
until recently, i had never encountered this word "believers" used as it is being used on this board, to describe pejoratively a group of people.
it's not clear to me whether they scorn all who have a faith of some sort.
do they include buddhists, hindus, followers of the baha'i faith, followers of the cargo cult, native americans along with christians, or is it just christians who are honoured with this epithet?.
Ammo.. it's interesting what you say and I have to say I agree with a lot of it. I'm still very much a believer but I do feel scared about saying much about my beliefs on here as it doesn't go down very well with a lot of folks. So I use this place to have a vent about things. Post on things that most everyone agrees on, find some support in my struggle, give support to others in their struggle and so far I've had few problems. For the need I have for talking with fellow believers I go to the Jw struggle forum. It's great for that aspect. Maybe you could join and give it a go sometime? :)
on my other post 'thinking of becoming a jw' people mentioned that once i was baptised i would be told / given rules of what i can / cant do, things like: how i act, dress, how i can have sex with my husband??
what i can and cant eat ( according to some research ive done).
i would be really interested to hear as many of these rules now - as i think its too late after one is baptised.. i would be grateful of as many as possible about anything any topic even thouse i havent mentioned.. thanks x.
Kate.. most 'rules' are unspoken... you just pick them up as you go along from what is said by others. Congregations do differ from one to another, some are more laid back than others.
However the most important things that you WILL have to follow are...
You cannot celebrate Christmas, birthdays, halloween, thanksgiving, valentine's day, mother's day. father's day etc.
You will be expected to go out preaching from door to door and be expected to report the amount of time you spend. It may not be that much, just a few hours a month but you have to do it every month.
You cannot have a blood transfusion. You will be looked down on if you marry someone who is not a baptised JW. Sex outside of marriage is a big no no.
You have to regularly attend meetings. You can only really miss them if you are sick. If you stop going you will be considered 'spiritually weak'.
You should not go on sites like this or speak out against any of the doctrines even if you disagree with them, if you do you could have the elders asking you questions. At the worst you could be 'disfellowshipped' for it (excommunicated). This means all the friends you have made will no longer have anything to do with you.
While you are still not baptised this won't happen. So if you do consider looking into it further try and be aware of all these things. Take it as slowly as you can and look at everything (as you seem to be doing).

so thats's good... i am just going to slowy work my way back into a routine.

short of faking my death there are only so many things i can do.
OH dear! I know that 'floating' feeling all too well. It's really good to give yourself something to do that will give some meaning to your life.
I learnt a new language (which I'm still learning) and that's been a lot of fun. Now I want to improve on another I know the basics of and learn another new one from scratch. It's also widened my friendships (even though most of my new ones are online), it's been fun.
Being able to expand your horizons in whatever way will help break that feeling of having done nothing with your life. In turn encouraging your daughter to have skills and a good education will make you happy as you see her broadening her horizons too. You can still be an anchoring influence on her life and guide her through life's pitfalls as any good dad does.

i am new to here so please be bear with me.. i have always believed in god, but was never baptised, my parents wanted me to make up my own mind religon wise.. i am thinking of becoming a jw and am just needing some advice on how to do this, bible study and jw beliefs.
also do jw say grace and how.. i am greatful of any help.. thanks.
The 'scarf' idea only comes into play for the woman doing the teaching in front of a man. As you'd be the one learning then it won't apply to you. :)
