Interesting. You made some great arguments username. Just one slip though. The minimum requirement for FS is about an hour , not 10. (Even 1/4 hour if you're elderly and infirm). The average time in my cong atm is about hours. -

Pop Trivia
by Simon inso many serious topics lately ... so for anyone who wants a break, it's trivia time and the subject is pop music.. which act is the only one to have a top 100 hit both before, during and after the beatles had theirs?.
no googling.
if you guess, you also need to add a trivia question for others to answer..

Retirement Planning for ex-JW's
by Simon inthis is something i think about a lot, possibly because i'm just getting older.
it seems that not only should i finally one day decide what i want to do with my life, but i should also be planning for retirement.. hands up everyone who feels their future has been royally screwed by the wts experience?.
if you were a good jw and followed the wts advice you could well be finding yourself facing middle or even old age without much or anything put aside in retirement savings.

Good post Simon. There's lots of ways to save money. If you need a big purchase such as a car, instead of getting a loan put it on an interest free credit card for a set time, if the time runs out and you still haven't paid it off transfer it to another. (Don't buy anything else on that card). Pay off all interest bearing cards totally at the end of each month. Don't go for all the latest gadgets just because you think you need them. Work out what it is you do need and get the best deal you can find. Search around. Spend time on ebay, it's great for things like quality clothes, toys, shoes, etc. you can get some real bargains. Budget carefully, know what you've got coming in and going out. Shop at cheaper foodstores (Aldi and Lidl in UK). Give moneysavingexpert.com a visit. -

The longest minute?

... or every minute of every thursday meeting when you wanted to get back home in time to see red dwarf and some elder who loved the sound of his own voice had the mic..

by macys inas most of you know i have been shunned by my family for 2 years because of a photo posted on facebook of me kissing another girl at a party.
the matter was not dealt with fairly but it is over now and i am 100% certain that jdub org is a cult.
but i miss my family so much.

I saw a post on a friend's facebook page recently that I agreed with, it said :- Never apologise for trusting your intuition. Your brain can play tricks, your heart can be blind, but your gut is always right. -

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

I find if I have to say the word to family or friends, it almost gets stuck in my throat. I never think of God with that name anymore.. I think of Him as Father in my own mind. When I hear it, it makes me feel very uncomfortable, especially when used in conjunction with 'organisation' ... that makes me feel physically sick. -

Couldn't take it anymore.
by Darkknight757 inso i decided yesterday to give my wife's full disclosure.
not sure it was the best decision considering she holds very firmly to the resurrection hope so we can see our babies again.. anyways she is agreeable to begin a study to find a better truth.
where is a good place to go to get some good reliable biblical info on the web that we can consider together?.

The NIV is my favourite... one of the things I've done is when I come across a passage that seems totally different to the NWT is to look up bible commetaries and concordances (the bible hub is a great online resource). It can make for some great discussions and different ideas. -

Thanks everyone for your experiences, it's great having a board like this, makes you feel less alone in having to deal with the fallout.
Howie.. what beautiful children you have!
