Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

Could never understand anyone who said they were uplifting, encouraging, enjoyable etc. Deep down I always guessed they were lying, even if only to themselves. I always disliked the meetings and if ever I had a headache or any other excuse to get out of it I would. My mind would be elsewhere or I would read my bible (which I did like). I nearly always fell asleep during the WT. These days if I go I find I'm more alert and interested in what's being said just to laugh inwardly at the total BS being spouted. -

Animals were created without needing Toilet Paper ... but not Man ... Why???
by RubaDub inmy dog and other pets do their "business" and run away and are happy.. man does not have that luxury.
any thoughts on why animals were created with the "poop and go" capacity while man has to go through more steps?
was this perhaps an additional issue that god added on when adam and eve sinned (such as eve having significant more birth pains)?

Dogs do sort of wipe their bums, just not with toilet paper... they sit on their rear ends with their back paws up round their ears and then pull themselves along your clean carpet with their front paws.... leaving a nice trail of poop behind them... and a big grin on their face.... -

Sorry to hear about your crash brandnew and I know having bikers in the family what the bike means to you ('my baby's dead', was my son's reaction after a crash)... but I'm glad you're all in one piece still even if you're hurting right now. Hope you recover soon... and your bike too!! -

What's the point?
by punkofnice ini mean, i don't want to be miserable or anything, but what's the bloody point of it all?.
since i left the watchtower cult, i have come to realise that god cannot possibly exist...and if a god exists...god is indifferent to humankind as the least.. in 100 years time i'll be gone.
kaput.

Questioning the WT makes you question everything. Sometimes those questions have disturbing answers. I don't know what to think or believe anymore... it's like having to start all over again and when you're close to your 60's that's not easy. All I can say is it's important to enjoy the life and health you have here and now, make the most of it. We spent so much time waiting for a 'new world' that we put our lives on hold. But really life can be enjoyed right now. How about giving yourself a 'bucket list'? I think of the young guy (Stephen Sutton) who died after a few years of fighting cancer. He made a bucket list and lived life to the full right up until the day he died. We were sold eternity, now maybe all we have is now... we have to make the most of it. Life however short is a precious gift. -

There's been some great advice given on here by quite a few posters, however I feel very disturbed by the nastiness of some. I've seen it before, someone comes on here for help, advice, support and gets called a troll because they may have put things badly, usually because of stress, emotional upset or whatever. Being nasty is never going to help doubters who are dipping their toes into apostate-land. these ones need our help and support. When someone is waking up and especially if their whole life has been immersed into it, their whole family is in it, they have no friends outside of it... its a very scary place to be,
As it happens I have a son living at home in his late 20's, he's an MS and the kindest most caring guy you could wish to meet but I'm worried about him 'spreading his wings' because he is 'naive'. Maybe he is a 'Man-child', if such a thing exists and not because of the way he's been brought up by us because his older brothers are totally different, it's just the way he is. Academically he is very bright but socially he's not. I imagine him coming here one day and getting that same reaction.
I just hope S&L that you stay, read, join in if you feel you want. Learn who to trust and who you can't. There are many on here who will give you the help and support you need.

Why the Deficit at the Circuit Assembly?
by JT-LadyC inhave you ever wondered why there is always a deficit at the circuit assembly?
did you realize that before the program begins, the circuit is already in the red?
many of the friends thought they were paying for the use of the building and covering the costs of the utilities, etc.

This is awesome! As someone who still has family in and an elder hubby, things like this are excellent for trying to open their eyes. Thanks JT and Lady C for all your hard work and for the non-sensational and reasonable way you present everything. And JT.. even dressing like a JW is going to make those questioning things stop and listen to what you have to say! -

I remember a documentary a few years back too. Can't remember all of it but the gist of it was that there could have been a red algal bloom in the Nile causing everything in it to die, the frogs cleared out and then they all died, no frogs caused an explosion of flies and this in turn caused pestilence., etc... It tried explaining it all in terms of natural occurrences all coinciding at the same time. Quite an interesting take on it. -

Need to vent: My loathing for the JW cult increases more and more, while my wife clings more and more to it
by goingthruthemotions injust as i think my loathing for the jw cult has peaked, it goes higher and higher.
i wish this cult would just go away.
i wish my wife would just wake up.

feel for you... same here... he's an elder so has to be on top of everything, studies the WT, book study, bible reading, goes out in FS to ALL the meetings... sometimes when he tells me things I feel like I have to have a cast iron stomach. At least he doesn't try to pressure me into anything and he hasn't watched a single broadcast yet. And he knows when I've had enough. Guess I'm lucky really. Just hoping something soon will burst his bubble... :/ -

Another one bites the dust...
by StarTrekAngel inso despite glimpses of hope here and there, the wife is just not seeing this cult for what it is.. so who is the one the bit the dust?
i've not been feeling so well lately.
a bit of lightheadedness.

StarTrekAngel, I really feel for you. I'm in a similar situation, my hubby is an elder and I don't want to have anything more to do with it all. Sometimes we have words, sometimes I feel he understands. On the whole it's very difficult, I feel bad when he goes to the meetings and out in the FS without me but know I just can't do it anymore. I go to the odd meeting if I feel I can cope.
I've found the best way to deal with it is to try and be the best wife I can be in other ways (even if I fail at least I'm trying). Long weekends away are good when we can connect without the 'elephant in the room' getting in the way. I try and focus on things that have nothing to do with the WT and if he brings anything up I try and deflect the conversation, or just go along with what he's saying, showing interest in people we both know and like. I've given up on doctrine, scandals or anything that might cause an argument. There is more to life than religion.
Try and rebuild your relationship without the religion getting in the way. respecting how the other feels and going along with it helps a lot even if it's frustrating at times. If you truly love each other then it will work out.

Caption This Photo From The January Study Edition
by JW_Rogue inso as some are probably aware the january study edition has two articles on the anointed.
one basically discouraging people from believing they are anointed and another about how ones should view partakers.
this photo is from the second article:.

Guy with the glasses looks like he's played some prank on the bread as he's trying not to laugh and not to look, while brother anointed is wondering.. "what the heck is on this stuff?"...
