Got a angry letter from our oldest son today we are very hurt from it.

when i got home today from work my wife showed me a 5 page letter from our oldest son.

he basically said he does not what anything to do with us because of all the wrong things we did as parents to him and his brother.

he blames us for not being there for him and we are toxic parents.

Can somebody explain the changes I read in the WT??

my grandmother asked me to read to her so i asked her what she wanted me to read.

was the watchtower, but she specfically asked for the one with "the timeline.

it for a few days and apparently hasn't read up.

A common WT tactic is to simply quit talking about it. Then they'll slowly slip little tidbits of information into various articles making some changes. It is barely perceptible to most JWs. After this process takes place over time, usually years, and the desired verbiage has been assimilated by JWs about the change, the WT will then introduce an article directly stating the change.

This almost seemed to be what was occuring for a few years but then 1914 started making a comeback after the Gods Love book.

I wonder if they were avoiding 1914 "too much" and felt the need to dip back into it.

The July 15 does not avoid 1914 but spends little time focusing on it. It's almost a side point to the "beginning of the harvest". This seemed to be the emphasis. I wouldnt't be surprised if we begin hearing a new phraseology around 1914 and that is "The beginning of the harvest"

This will take the emphaisis off the actual year and place it on the "event" in the overall timeline. 1914 will just be another dot along the chronology and not the focus of it.

Drinking at meetings / assemblies / conventions ... who's done it?

last district convention after having 'read up' (took some family to it).. 2).

last 'meeting' to watch step-father-in-law finally get his and get disfellowshipped for molestation.. ...both were taking vodka shots in the bathroom.. i'm sure there's lots of good stories out there..

mother's day is denounced as a scheme of satan to idolize one's mother at the expense of worship to god!.

now it would be easy to dismiss this baloney as just a rant from jfr, but - this is not just an aside on the back page of a magazine or a small article in the "golden age"...no, it is a main study book and is a serious discussion of the prophetic book ezekiel chapt 13....this was the doctine of the time .. i woder how the 'sisters' reacted?

all i was trying to do was find some mutual respect for my decision but she started smacking, punching, pushing me.

soon after, she threw the biggest tantrum and it disgusted me to see her acting in such a manner.

well a picture says a thousand words!

i had a tattoo done today.. it was actually interesting because as i was chit chatting with the tattoo artist, she asked me if this tattoo symbolized anything....well actually it does i told her.. me: i was a jw and they are strongly against tattoos or anything that is really "normal" for people.. tattoo artist: i know all about jw, my ex-girlfriend's family was all jw, and i remember one time going over to her parents house and her grandma sat us both down and made us read some scriptures from her bible as to why we were going to hell.. me: actually you will due at armageddon, that is the jw thing.. tatt artist: oh right that is what her grandma said.

i forgot about that, you're right.. so then the rest of the conversation was just me telling her it's a cult and i told her never listen to any jw who comes knocking.. something else interesting that happened just before i came on here.

i think the problem is, as before, how the aawa is handling things and refusing to answer your critics makes things worse.

critics are not people out to get you, they are critical of something that you have done or given the appearance of doing and pr is the job of responding to address the criticisms.. this is the internet people, you can't just pretend that things didn't happen by deleting the comments!

especially not with a group that wants to claim to offer support and be open and honest.

its too bad there has to be bickering. Cedars has been an amazing contributor to JWN. whether we agree with AAWA or not we cannot just throw him under the bus for it. That is EXACTLY what we criticize the WTS for doing to its members when they disagree with them.

I hoped we would have all learned our lesson on stuff like this

apparently this was being considered a "pilot test". Expect to see this everywhere (especially 3rd world countries) within a few short years

This should help reduce expensive air travel and pump the F&DS directly into the eyes and ears of the R&F on a regular basis.
