i had this dream... and in the dream it had some guy talking about tilling the ground.
what the hell is that machine thing called that back in the day use to 'till the ground?
' ...that the cow use to pull while the man was on the back of it?
The Stump Jump plough was invented in Australia.

an open letter from the children of jehovahs witnesses.
smiddy,
Funny you should say that bit about leaving your brain at the front door of the KH.
I recall my Mum saying she loved going to meetings because she felt a great weight lift off her shoulders as she walked through the KH door.
She had a tough time with her non-JW husband and all us kids!!!
I think she meant exactly what your saying there.
Only trouble was, she used to say, I have to pick it back up as soon as I walk out of there!!!!
She is still an active JW and I am very sensitive not to discuss anything risky in front of her. She doesn't need any more pain and she could not survive without the crutch support of the JW system now. Better just to talk about fun family stuff than doctrines.
I leave that discussion for my brother when Mums not around.
As we all live a long way away, I don't get much opportunity to do that now. He wont debate on FaceBook as he has lots of other JW friends on there and can't be seen speaking to an Apostate!!
Be interesting to see his opinion on this Vic court case as he lived down that way for a while, not in that congregation, but he will certainly have an opinion!!
how many of you had gone visiting any apostate church when you were still in?
what was your feeling?
my bf went to my church with me once, i wonder how he felt....
I remember we went to Sydney for a weekend with a JW friend. Going to Sydney from where we were from was a big deal to go to the City!!
As we walked past a church he went inside to have a look. I stopped at the doorway and watched as he even put some money in a poor box. I was stunned and told him that was a bad thing to do. He just laughed and said he liked looking at teh architecture. Not sure I beleived that then.........
Funny, as I now love that old church. Grand old sandstone building, but I still hesitatnt to walk inside any of them.
It does not stop me going in, just still recall the old habits I guess.
Loved the Vatican and yes, as stated above, I said to my wife as we were walking through, Mum would not like this.
She would be thinking of all the riches gathered that should be distibuted.
They miss out on so much. Said to my older brother about our visit to Rome, and he replied, Yes I would like to see some of that now as it won't be there in the New System. I had trouble not to laugh at him. Sad, sad people.
when i was younger ( from 9-13 ) one of the best congregations i attended was a congregation that got dissolved because of low numbers.
tell me your experiences with large congregations or smaller congregations..
Spent some of my younger years (7-18) in a smaller congregation. Liked a few of the people there and thought some of them were good friends. Moved to a much larger congregation (18yo- 25ish) and never really felt welcomed.
Married a local girl and our wedding was in the KH.
We both left and just drifted away after some time there.
Smaller congregation was much better in my opinion. Had a better feel to it.
Feel sorry for all of my so called friends there and a lot of us young ones that grew up together have all left.
can you personally think of any pros of being a jws?
anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.
Band on the Run,
I can totally understand where you are coming from on this.
I recall you had to sit in the front row and someone would critique your talk. Very hard to take at times.
My BIL (still a JW) had a very hard time with this and I was always a bit embarressed for him. Don't feel that way now as he has caused our family way too many problems associated with JW's, but when I was young and dumb, it was a different matter.
i am now officially by being announced at congregation level that i am no longer one of jehovahs wihtnesses.
that news spread like wild fire and i was dropped by all jw's on facebook, which shows the level of control the borg has in this area.
what is interesting is there was no juducial committee.
MTM, good news for sure.
By the way, a belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
2012 is already looking good for you!!!
16 months and counting...no visit by a carload of time wasters doing rural witnessing.. i'm home everyday except when i am not, same for the wife, and still no visits.. either the closest congregation are real slack or there are none assigned to our locality!.
mixed bag, depending on what i have been reading, i would either want to play with them nicely or sting em up by their thumbs.... maybe it's best they stay away.... oz.
.
Funny, but I have had the same sort of experience.
Have moved several times in Oz, and they could not have known where I lived, but not once have I had anyone knock on my door.
Lived in T'ville, Perth, Darwin, Brisbane and Sydney but have never had the fun of meeting them.
Akways wondered what I would say, and for sure I would be polite as I always loved it when I was invited in for a glass of water or drink. Would surely do that and might even have a beer myself!!!!!
Live/working overseas now (Decided to serve where the need is great..............that means I can make more money over here), so dont expect I will get a knock on the door as its a Muslim country. Was surprised to see one of my guys at work have a WT magazine with him and I asked him about that.
Seems there is a congregation here and they are fairly strong.
Buggas are everywhere.
Would still like a chance to debate some issues if they ever do come to my door in the future. Especially like to get a young 'brother'and have a chat to him. Evils of the flesh and all that good stuff, after I told him he should be in University anyway!!

HAH!!!.................and maybe I would have learnt how to spell education as well.

Only new here, but adding my 2 cents to this topic.
A pro for me is public speaking.
I have thanked my Mum for this as she encouraged us to be good witnessess and do our talk at the Ministry School from a young age. I was always a pretty good reader and done well at this.
In my work now 30+ years later, this has helped me as I need to do presentations and training courses for management.
A definite skill obtained from my early days.
(If only she had encouraged me to further my eductaion with the same vigour.........)
