about 2 years ago in my journal i started a page "rules for life":.
my rule for this page was it had to be a definent, 100% for certain rule with no way of swaying it's truth.
in 2years time i've come up with one rule so far on that page.. 1) talk is cheap; so keep it simple.. i think i may be ready to add rule #2:.

this is my first post to this group.
ive been lurking for quite awhile and to say the least, this board makes me late for work as i oversleep from a late night of reading and wondering.
It's good you are starting to post here instead of lurking. You'll get alot of things off your chest and find alot of similar stories from others on the board. It sounds like you have some good things to share and I think you'll enjoy your time here.

PS: I was not raised a JW but I used to get by butt kicked for stupid stuff like spilling my milk. Either way that can be very hard on a child's self esteem in my opinion.

there's a running debate i have going with my wife.
i have the opinion that it is very possible for married people to have friends of the opposite sex without the idea of a sexual encounter entering into the picture.
she disagrees, saying that once you're married, the marriage mate should be enough to offer you all you need in the way of companionship, conversation,etc.. let's say you're running an errand at the mall and happen to see someone of the opposite sex that you have known for years (your mate knows/doesn't know them... doesn't matter) and you decide to grab a cup of coffee and have a two-hour chat.
Normal; however, my husband has lots of close friends who are women and I have no problems with it nor do I have any worries about those relationships (you are right about trust and acceptance with your mate -that is top priority) but I tend to wonder if I was hanging out for hours at a time with a male friend(s) if he would be bothered by it(because I think he would). However, maybe your wife has good reason to be concerned. Maybe your a real hotty and she has to keep close tabs on you or maybe she's known you a verrrrry long time and knows how friendly you can be and worries other women might sway you the wrong way. We'd have to hear more of her side of the story too. But if mates have true trust and love their should be no concerns with opposite sexed friends.

Hi, I just want to say the complexity of your posts blows my mind. You both must spend undoubtless hours researching your beliefs. I wish I had that kind of time to do research but since I don't I pull what I can off of other peoples thoughts. I commend you both for your hard work at delving into biblical issues. I can't help but wonder sometimes (and I'm only speaking for myself) whats the point?
I don't mean what's the point like who cares because I find it very interesting reading; however, I will never understand why if there is a God he had to make everything so damn confusing! But that would be a whole other subject.
Anyhow, thanks again for your interesting perspectives.
