Rules for Life
by peacepipe inabout 2 years ago in my journal i started a page "rules for life":.
my rule for this page was it had to be a definent, 100% for certain rule with no way of swaying it's truth.
in 2years time i've come up with one rule so far on that page.. 1) talk is cheap; so keep it simple.. i think i may be ready to add rule #2:.

OK, This is what I have to say
by peacepipe ini need to put my two cents in about this even though i'm reading it a couple days after the last post.. when i think of the death of those i care about i usually have no problem picturing them going to heaven forever: some people just to me seem like there is nowhere else they could be.
those who i've been close to that have died that i'm questionable about them actually going to heaven i feel like in some way as long as there are those of us here to remember them they are still kept alive somehow.
when i really think about my own death i have a panic attack.

God vs Jesus
by peacepipe ini've read alot of posts about the mean, jealous god of the bible most were brought up to know.
i myself have often wondered why a loving god would kill innocent people(flood, soddom & gommorah, the egyptian sons, and why wouldn't he give adam & eve a 2nd chance?
jw's say they knew what they were to do and they defiantly disobeyed so they have no chance of a resurecction).

Is Religion Evolving?
by peacepipe inafter reading the post "mire of atheism" which is a really interesting thread, i came to a thought.
when i first came to this board i wanted to add conviction to beliefs that i was not yet convinced of.
when i first started studying with the jw's i wanted to find god in the world.

Are you Possessed?
by peacepipe inwarning: though this is very long if you read as much as you can it may lead to some interesting conversation.. seriously, in my battle with good and evil in my life i have come to the conclusion that i am not meant to "know god" and that i was possessed sometime in my early life(ok not exorcist possessed but just possessed meaning "i'm not meant to get it/cut off from god")examples (yes, i realize these are only fictional portrayls but they show what i mean):.
1) there is an older movie called the rapture.
it stars david duchovny(pre x-files days)& mimi rogers(an occasional x-file charachter) anyhow she's the main character and it's about this:.

Very Pathetic questions but. . . .
by peacepipe in1) does anyone have any explanation as to why so many/most/all of the people in the awake magazines always say *name changed* or the letters from readers in the back only give first name/last name initial & country?.
wouldn't it be more interesting to know the names of the "brothers & sisters" and maybe what congregation they were from?.
i found this to strike me as being made up.. 2) does anyone know anything about if it was john the apostle who wrote the book of revelation?

Question for you RE: Holidays
by peacepipe ingathering that there seems to be a mix of active jw's, inactive jw's, ex-jw's, atheists etc.
here, i am wandering on your thoughts on the holidays with more focus on the more religious based holidays like christmas & easter.. i'd like to know if you celebrate them like the mainstream of society or if you still have your reservations about them based on what you learned as part of the wt.
i myself have been very turned off by the holidays in recent years - not because of the wt though- but for my own personal reasons.
