How do I as a future "Therapist" help ex-jws that won't move on from the WT?

i am halfway through my master's program in psychology/sociology and plan on being a therapist/sounselor.

i left jw's in 1988 and i have never looked back.

i enjoy my life so much after getting my aa degree, then my ba degree, and now i will soon get my ma degree.

How are you going to help depressed people that won't get over it and move on?

or OCD people who won't quit counting the times they flush the toilet, repeatedly wash there hands..

I read your Bio.. this has been a pet peave of yours for some time... get over it, move on .. some XJW's hate the org and want to spend more time fighting it..

For me, I find great comfort here, finally amongst people who know what it's like..this is the only place for that.. I don't really know anyone here, but no one feels like a stranger..

But again I ask .. why ask here? don't they cover this in your classes.. or were you just trying to help everyone here..

I also Ask because years ago while in therapy I brought up JW stuff and the therapist kept wanting go deeper, but I refused, I feared he would tell me to go back and I didn't want too..

so please tell me what is the current understanding of XJWs in field in which you say you are seeking a masters? Do the address it ?

I also notice a low post count for some one whos been on the site for several years.. so I won't hold my breath for an answer..

New New World Translation will be announced

apparently, the original writings of the bible canon have been found in warwick, ny.

the new world translation will be updated to clarify discrepancies.. here are some noteworthy changes: .

1) in genesis, right after satan sinned, he "pretty much disassociated himself", the original writings noted.

last sunday's public talk was about tools the devil uses to tear down our faith, and as usual; apostacy, false teaching and erroneous thinking came up in the point, and the speaker went on and on, accusing apostates of being perverts and aspiring to live a life of debauchery which couldn't be tolerated amongst jehovah's people.. he further went on stating that if eventually apostates get into the world, they often find themselves not being able to mix up with satan's system as a result of the bible based understanding which they had acquired, and they ended up getting bitter and wasting their lives .

those words were quite frightenning, i never heard it this strong before!!

LOL .. I hear ya... all these years waiting for the big A... and now waiting for the WT to emplode!!! geez

It could happen hopefully, before we die .. they are a printing company and the internet has not been kind to many of the likes..

Do you think Jesus WANTED to be turned into a religion?

stuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.

the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.

I'm being serious too. I know I kid alot..

My not being able to move on after 20+ years out, lead me here.... It's kinda hard when you've been brainwashed since birth that nothing in this world is worthwhile.. except waiting for god to FIX IT all in his new order..

Please let me know if you have a cure for this

way more.. if you look at COC the first thing Ray noticed when he got to bethal was, The number of baptism and increase of Publishers was way out of skew.. they lose 25% in the first year..

it's a revolving door.. most just move on as a bad experince and never look at it again ..

Long Overdue Observation

i just thought this was funny when it popped into my head this morning.

funny because i should have thought of it long ago and i'm sure that i'm not the first to think this.

the big point comes after my little spiel.. so, god tells noah to build an ark because he has a lot of killing of the wicked to do and only noah and his family seem to be good enough.
