JW Elder still in music business - despite telling congregation he wasn't
by uk_ex_jw ini've known this elder for years.
when i was in the borg he told me how he was in the music business before he became a jw.. he made a point of telling me how ruthless it was and how he had been ripped off for thousands of pounds.. he did many talks from the platform over how as a young man he was involved in a typical 'drugs, rock and roll' lifestyle and how becoming a jw changed his life.. there was a young guy in the congregation who was particulary interested in music.
this elder counselled him that it was ok to do it i.e.

Gossip, gossip, gossip
by time2keepmoving ineven though i've been disfellowshipped for several months now (looking forward to my 1 year anniversary).
i did have a brother contact me about one of my siblings who is still "in" and ask me personal questions about them.
he also shared with me a lot of personal info about my sibling that i did not know, obviously my relative shared this information with this brother in confident.. i felt like if my relative wanted me to know they would have told me.

I could give two rats ass what he thinks of me or anybody else in that mind-controlling organization. I'm done with the cult, so that a non-factor in my life. If all it's really about is gossip, rumors and lies, why would I want to waste my time thinking about what the people who participate in that mess think about me or even waste a milisecond of my life trying to clear it up. I would have to really care to do that. I'm none communicating with this brother because he has a poisonous tongue, just like so many of fake-ones in the KH.
This is yet another thing that confirms the ugliest of this organization. They live to destroy people's character and name. I have no intentions on contacting anybody in the bOrg about this because they ALL do it and it would be an exercise in futility, not to mention I don't want any contact with the witnesses. This mess has been going on for years and it ain't gonna stop now. I hope it gets so bad for my relative, that it forces then to open their eyes and see this organization for what it really is (one big fat lie). I'm going to let the chips fall where they may and pray it will be the catalyst to my relative's departure.

I felt like if my relative wanted me to know they would have told me. Yet in talking with me, he was more than happy to break their confident and fill me in.
I have come to the conclusion that he enjoyed this and has no qualms whatsoever in telling other people business, including to disfellowshiped relatives. In talking to him, I've discerned he does not have all his facts right, but that's okay....because does that really matter in the bOrg?
He has also felt generous enough to inform me about personal info he has heard in passing *eye rolling* about other "friends" I was previously acquainted with in the KH (ex. like one of the sisters being HIV positive ~ if it's true I wonder how that info got out).
Man, the gossiping never stops. He is running his mouth and throwing all kinds of people under the bus with his gossiping, breaching people's confidenality, innuendos, misinformation, etc. and there is no shame in his game. He is also dragggging my relatives name through the mud in the organization (can't say I was too mad about this or discouraged it, maybe this will be the thing to make them leave or at least open the door to the possiblity).
I basically decided to stop taking his phone calls, because this so-called brother is totally negative and 1) I really don't care. I'm out of the Borg. 2) This just reaffirms my decision not to go back 3) I want to move on with my life and I really don't want nor care what is going on with these folks including my relations who are still in. Their in am out!

Do the Jehovah Witnesses break up families?
by trailerfitter inthe answer is yes in my case.
for some of you wonderful people on here will remember i asked a few questions and was concerned about my wife becoming a jehovahs witness,...well, she is baptised now and fully fleged (committed).. i have been called possessed by satan , mentally ill, a schitzophrenic and was beaten emotionally and mentally.
eventually i had to leave our house after 2 years of this situation getting worse.

Your wife is under complete and utter emotional and mental control. She's in the very beginning stages of being a JW where EVERYTHING that is not JW-related is SATAN, period. In her eyes, Satan is using you to break her integrity to god, but in reality your sound reasoning is making her question her belief in her religion...and she just can't have that. In her mind, god and the JW's are one and the same. God works through the JW's. So to leave them is to leave god. This is the point in time when most new converts lose their family and friends because they've alienated them with their fanatical ways. I don't blame you for being angry with everything. You've basically lost the wife you knew and she's become a bible-beating cult member.
This is so spot-on and so, so true! I lose a family member because of this, not looking back though. We are both adults and now this is the dividing line. I have gone North and she went South.

I really don't know why anybody would want to subject themselves to this organization after being disfellowshipped.
If you don't create a life for yourself and apply yourself at filling the time that the Borg use to occupy, you may be tempted to go back. You really have to move on in every, single sense of the word. You will develop new friendship, new relationship and have better experiences, but in order to do that, you can't look back.

@ Chariklo - You have it absolutely right. That systematic process of humilation by the elders is where I stuck.
In effect, they did me a kindness, in disguise, because the whole house of cards fell down, and I saw it all for what it really is.
I got out while the going was good, and absolutely no way am I ever going near them again.
could not have said it better myself, for a minute there I thought I wrote that!

Loyal family members can no longer have spiritual fellowship with him. For example, if the disfellowshipped one is present, he would not participate when the family gets together to study the Bible. However, if the disfellowshipped one is a minor child, the parents are still responsible to instruct and discipline him. Hence, loving parents may arrange to conduct a Bible study with the child.—Proverbs 6:20-22; 29:17.
This is soooo stupid. See how they like to play on words by saying "loyal family members" loyal to who? To the "machine" not to God, because God does not have anything to do with Shunning but the WT&TS does. That's their own prize invention they twist the scriptures around to justify their wickedness. Also, how stupid is it to block a disfellowship person living in the home from the studying with the family, you would think they would encourage that to get them assimilated back into the bOrg. You can see how they contradict themselves so much and how riduclous their so-call directive is in each published article. Full of hate and spitefulness, nothing loving in that at all.
In other cases, the disfellowshipped relative may be living outside the immediate family circle and home. Although there might be a need for limited contact on some rare occasion to care for a necessary family matter, any such contact should be kept to a minimum. Loyal Christian family members do not look for excuses to have dealings with a disfellowshipped relative not living at home. Rather, loyalty to Jehovah and his organization moves them to uphold the Scriptural arrangement of disfellowshipping. Their loyal course has the best interests of the wrongdoer at heart and may help him to benefit from the discipline received.
Once again, they are reinforcing how they hold people's family members hostage.
Also why is the person who left whether via disfellowshipping, disassociated or whatever called a "wrongdoer". So if the person had a issue with the JW doctrine and was disfellowshipped for questioning the bOrg they are labeled a "wrongdoer"? How so? What is wrong with asking questions, disagreeing and/or asking for accurate proof? You get the label "wrongdoer" for that. Wow! Real foul shit to be calling somebody that and to speak maliciously about people's character, which the JW's love to do because they know the bOrg can't be sued for slander. Arrogrant and nasty aren't they. They don't care about people's emotional well-being. They act like the common school-yard bully.

Hmmmm.....It real easy to amass that kind of wealth when you can hide behind a 501c3, get the brothers and sisters to give away their labor for free, and all you do is take in and never give back! Hellva racket!
I wonder how their bottomline will be affected when the statue of limitation for child abuse cases is lifted?
