  Personally, my report slip was a work of fiction for the last 5 years. They'd give me a hard time if i reported less than 8 hours a month so i decided to just f**k it and put 10 hours a month and random mags/books/studies. They stopped bothering me then.

  Yes, a blank report slip was my canvas. My ex-wife never put in her report slip, she always forgot so i did it for her. Again, it was all fiction.

  One time the secretary text me saying he'd received two report slips from my then wife with different hours (one i'd put in her for and one she'd put in herself). I told him to record whichever was higher. I hint that we're just making it up.

  18. Infirm Regular Pioneers: In rare circumstances, a brother or sister may be approved to remain as a pioneer without having a minimum hour requirement. This provision is only for exemplary, longtime pioneers who have a heartfelt desire to serve always as regular pioneers and who feel they would be taking a backward step if they had to discontinue but who are unable to meet the hour requirement because of infirmity. The elders may consider designating such a pioneer as an infirm regular pioneer if he (1) is over 50 years old and (2) has pioneered for at least 15 cumulative years. This decision should be made only after consulting with the circuit overseer regarding the situation. This arrangement is not a provision to allow an individual to care for sick relatives, do added secular work, and so forth. Those who first enter the pioneer service when they are 60 or 70 years old do not come under this arrangement simply because of their age. There is no need to give consideration to allowing an older pioneer who develops health problems to serve as an infirm regular pioneer if he is willing to transfer to the publisher ranks.

  Nowhere in this letter does it show love and/or concern for the elderly or infirm brothers and sisters. It's all about totting up those hours, can they meet the hour requirement? They want to care for their sick relatives? Too bad!

  i could only think of weddings and wedding anniversaries .

  Lets see. The only celebrations i knew of in my JW years where:

  Weddings

  Wedding Anniversaries

  That's it. A baptism wast celebrated like a party or anything. You'd get them a card but that's about it.

  Lets not forget "surprise day" which, in my family, always happened to be just before or after Dec 25th. Mum would cook a turkey dinner, we'd swap presents etc.

  So JW did us all by resisting and forcing in the research of blood reduction a yet much greater favour.

  JW backed the right horse. Is this only explainable by human efforts of a handful of JW - protagonists convinced the medical society to shift the paradigma from blood transfusion to blood management?

  Wasnt it much more Jehovas spirit ?

  Hardly. Medical science is advancing all the time. How many JW's donated blood to be used in blood fractions? How many funded scientific research into non blood?

  BioMed Central (written by doctors for doctors and those studying medicine) states:
  

  The use of cell salvage techniques in vascular surgery has the potential to prevent the use of homologous blood transfusions, but in reality that does not appear to occur. The risk for transmission of disease by blood transfusions is sufficiently low that the use of the Cell Saver does not appear to have an impact on the individual patient. Cost savings only occur when there is a high blood loss and a high RBC salvage rate. If the surgeon is concerned, the reservoir is the optimal method to use in cases that have the potential for high blood loss, and if excessive blood loss does occur then the cell salvage device can be activated.

  i've been thinking about the changes we make within ourselves after leaving the wts cult.

  i'm not referring to how we spend our time now that we actually have some, but who we have become, or working to be?.

  the gb carries on and on about "stripping off the old personality and putting on the new one.

  Personally im a lot more outgoing, friendly and engaging. I can see now all those times i got in trouble with elders and parents and peers because of some non-JW behavior or thinking was little parts of my real self trying to burst free. Not that i was doing anything bad, nothing serious, just having posters on my bedroom wall, being a fan or Nirvana, reading other "holy books", having a gay friend.

  Since leaving i feel like im 19yo again. Im discovering the world around me and im fascinated and excited about many things non JW's take for granted. Christmas still doesn't appeal to me, i dont think its wrong or anything i just dont see the fuss about it. Birthdays are nice though.

  So my personality is finally free to blossom and im loving it. I treat every day as a wonderful day to be alive and my Sunday mornings/Thursday evening are particularly more enjoyable!

  Never had this in all my 31 years as a JW!

  how do the gb micro-manage people's lives today?one example is their micro management in dress and grooming.

  eg their view of beards.

  elders in most congs will take a brother to a corner and remind him why jws don't grow beards.

  So glad I left just as the video on a tablet ministry just started to become the new thing. There's no way I'd show a tablet to a householder on the ministry where I live. The territory I used to be assigned to you had to watch your valuables. They'd rob the teeth from your head if they had the chance.

  As for micro managing our lives, my ex wife used to always ask me "are we allowed?" when we were shopping and something would have a cartoon snowman on the packet or Santa Claus on a Coca Cola bottle. Lots of JWs are used to asking permission for almost anything. Just like little children.

  Was this elder full of bs again regarding the complete wt library online?

  this is my first time making an o.p.

  an elder told me that he had access to a website online that had all the old bound volumes and books.

  also, he made sure to say it was not an apostate website, but a 'legit' website made by brothers.

  2017 Convention Releases

  New bible story book huh? I always thought they could do with an update. Or put those comic books into one big book. Maybe that's what they're doing.

  Anywhere where we can download it?

  I always said they should put the comic book ones into one book. It'd be a waste not to. As much as i cant stand the org i gotta hand it to them, the artwork is very good.
  

  The book is not a collection of comic book stories, it features completely new artwork. A user on JWtalk who knows how to dig into JW.org's metadata on its CMS posted some of the pictures, but they were subsequently removed by the moderators out of respect for the ones preparing the spiritual food.

  The book is not yet downloadable on JW.org, but will be next week, shortly before the start of the first convention on Friday. As of now, the book's download link shows 60 languages, but files attached.

  When the files will be downloadable, you can access them via this link: https://www.jw.org/download/?fileformat=PDF&pub=lfb. If you prefer other format than PDF, replace the fileformat parameter to EPUB, JWPUB or MP3.

  Great. I'll look forward to downloading it. I'll get my self a few hard copies (my little girl still goes the meetings with her mum).

  The download only idea makes sense from a cost cutting point of view. But it's also a shame because they can update the "new light" whenever they want.
