You had them by the balls when you quoted their own manual back at them. Checkmate. What else could they do?
Unfortunately, those who've never researched enough to obtain a copy of said book would have fallen into their trap.
Well done you.
original thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".
all of this, i remind you, because of posting coc on facebook.

i think the single biggest mistake the governing body have made in the last 10 years has to be creating jw broadcasting and putting their gb members on there... on a weekly basis too.. when i was a kid, i had no idea who the governing body were, what their names were or what they looked like.
there was one or two long term pioneers that knew the names of two of them but that was about it.. when i was about 10yo i imagined they looked something like this:.
ahh.... those learned men with a lifetime of bible knowledge just oozing out of their very hearts.
Do the KH songs on the screen have a bouncing ball? LOL!
LMAO unfortunately not. Although that would be way more fun.
what's is the goal of this religion?.
i mean, if it's for money they could do a lot more like other religions do: tithing, paying for prayers from the gb, selling "miracles", selling "blessed" items, selling courses.. if its for power then what are they hoping to do with that power?
they dont seem to do anything.
I sincerely hope it just disintegrates over the next few decade. Unfortunately it'll likely create a few splinter groups and one will gather more followers than the others and find a scripture to use as "proof" that this little splinter is the real one and we start all over again.
You'd think one of them would realize the situation and at least try to make something of it. Like "Jehovah wants us to all tithe £20 a month and to fix this world - fight poverty, build schools and hospitals, support AIDS sufferers, help cancer research, build parks etc etc" £20 x 8 million = £160 tax free EVERY MONTH. Do that every month and you got a great world changing machine. At least then if you didn't agree with their doctrine you couldn't fault their world changing approach.

I was thinking about this yesterday. If they really, genuinely believe they are Gods organization then surely they should own up for mistakes, have a transparent accounting, witnesses/representation allowed in judicial committees, abolish hierarchy (which they claim they dont have) *cough* elder/CO/DO/GB *cough*
Remember all those times in the KH where they'd have a show of hands of "we suggest the following resolution: the so-and-so congregation of JW offer to donate £such-and-such per publisher"... usually it was about £10. If every witness donated £10 theres £80 million donated just like that TAX FREE. What's the point?
ok so i was stupid and looked at the text for today, i do not know why i did it.
i lost a couple of brain cells and put myself into an even deeper depression over it.
it was just that my husband had it out and i thought what can it hurt, wondering what they are up to.
"How we cherish our privilege of working with our God in these last days! Thus, we should be willing to postpone the pursuit of many of our personal interests, knowing that in his new world, Jehovah will allow us to enjoy “the real life”—everlasting life in happy, peaceful conditions."
They were spouting this crap back in 1950. Imagine how you'd feel now looking back on all those fun, educational, interesting things you put off. And now your old and dying and still it's not the time to enjoy yourself?
They trying make anyone who enjoys life out to be "enjoying the temporary enjoyment of sin". Isn't Jehovah supposed to be a happy God?
This religion sickens me more every day. It's sad that my family will never know TTATT because they will never actually research outside JW.org.

regional convention 2017 rumors.
theme: the bible and the divine name.. 3 dramas and 2 dramatic bible readings.. .
(Lesson 1) Where we will see Caleb as an adolescent.
Then Lesson 12 where he gets caught by his mom having his first w*nk over a bra section in a Sears catalogue - the elders rake him over the coals and save him from becoming a homosexual. Meanwhile Sofia gets a tramp stamp tattoo.
i've taken the bible lessons but have never attended a kingdom hall.
i was curious as to what point they begin to tighten the screws of control?
let's say you're a baptist.
But for all that... you'd think they'd at least find a sword or an arrow head or a Nephite/Lamanite pot or something. All those people and battles?
i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.
Absolutely.
I used to honestly believe i would never die of old age. It was a very comforting belief. But then as i approached my 30s i noticed the old ones dying off who also thought they'd never die of old age. I've never feared death and i still dont. What comforts me now is when i do go at least I'll get to experience what dying is like. Then poof! I'm gone.
And if there is a god/gods/goddesses I'm more than capable of presenting my side of why i stopped believing.
my brother isn't a witness but he was raised one like we all were.
after 15 years living his own life he decided about a year ago to have a bible study.
this being the case, as a non baptized witness he can still speak to me but he's getting a lot of pressure not to from elders and the rest of my family.
I worry thatv your brother seems more convinced after the video t ghe an he was before.
He loves the idea of an end of the world apocalypse/end times/sci-fi kind of story. When he was living his own life, it was a mess, but he genuinely believed in Buddha, angels, the hindu gods, norse gods, aliens building the pyramids, UFO's etc etc etc
Tell him what he wants to hear and he's like putty. But then if you seriously debate with him his ideas fall away. Which i think will happen here.
Cigs or not, they have him in his head, if not his heart. He wants the jw fantasy even tho he knows he can't live it. Just remind him that if he backsides after committing to it, you will be there for him. Does he fully understand that they will reject him like they do you when that happens? [And it will happen]
If he does progress further i will keep reminding him that it only takes one slip up and the elders will be just dying to disfellowship him. And he knows what that means.
I'll keep yis all posted.
will you be a survivor of the last days?.
serving with jehovah’s unified organization.
move ahead with jehovah’s unified organization.
Some become critical, saying that Jehovah does not have an organization
May say that loving one’s fellowman is what really counts or that having a personal relationship with God is
the really important thing or even that personally reading the Bible is sufficient (rs 326-8)
Those who adopt such viewpoints are like Satan
They break away from the Father, Jehovah (1Ti 1:19, 20; 2Ti 2:16-19)
Ouch! That's rather strong wouldn't you say? Like Satan? Does he read the bible every day without consulting the GB for clarification too?
