One elder answered up about the satanic, demonic thing that is hypnosis. Im actually well read in hypnosis and know what it is and what it isnt. The WT mags made silly claims and outright lies about it. It was then that i knew they were talking out their ass and decided to visit JWFacts. I binged for a whole day on there and came away feeling sad then angry then numb. Then read Crises Of Conscience and i was awake.

According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.
by Bonsai ini asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.

"You Can Do Just Enough Ministry To Dislike It"
by pale.emperor inwhen you were "in" did you ever actually enjoy the ministry?
and i made no secret about it.
instead i would joke about me feather knocking, and made sure i had my bible in hand so as they come to the door they know what im about so they can shut me down before i even start.. i always wondered how or why there were people who enjoyed it.

I always wondered HOW or WHY there were people who enjoyed it. Did they really enjoy it or were they just saying it? It's like The Emperor's New Clothes, everyone pretending they can see something that isnt there because they're "supposed" to.
In the experience parts in Thursday meetings the pioneers would always say "well, you can do just enough ministry to not enjoy it" which is saying that if you dont enjoy it its because you're not out there enough. Whenever i worked with elders on the ministry i always said i dont enjoy the ministry and i think people are more likely to ask questions in work or in casual conversation. That door to door surely must feel intrusive in this day and age. Like when you get a charity collector with a clipboard in town trying to get you to sign up. You avoid them and if you do get caught you cant get rid of them unless you sign up (or take their mags).

Apologizing to my non-JW friends
by pale.emperor inyesterday i bumped into an old friend from my last workplace.
he's a gay man and we were good friends along with a woman from the same office.
although i was a jw at the time, i would go for the occasional after work drinks with them, blackpool funfair every year and the occasional cinema or theater.

This is what normal friendships are like isn't it, up and down but we don't give up on them.
You're right Xanthippe. It's still strange to me that real friends (those outside the cult) can just move on from any negative air we might have had. That never happens with the JW's. No matter what they print in their mags about forgiveness.

Will we on here get to hear of what's said? Do they broadcast it a week later for the rank and file?
I was never bothered about it when I was in. My mum got invited to the one were the new bibles were released and bathed in the "elite" status she had upon her return.
I think they'll eventually release the comic book stories from JW.org as a book to replace My Book Of Bible Stories.

I used to joke to my workmates "if it involves laughter and joy it's probably against my religion".

Any Others of the "Anointed"?
by Hernandez ini was baptized in 1985, was a regular pioneer, ministerial servant, and on the way to becoming an elder when i left the witnesses in 1999. i also was one of those who claimed and (at the time ) believed i was one of the anointed.. i am wondering if there are any others here who also claimed they were of the anointed?
how did you come to that conclusion?
how do you feel about your claim now that you are out?.

Thanks for sharing. I always wondered how/why some felt they were anointed.

Yesterday i bumped into an old friend from my last workplace. He's a gay man and we were good friends along with a woman from the same office. Although i was a JW at the time, i would go for the occasional after work drinks with them, Blackpool funfair every year and the occasional cinema or theater. Unfortunately, despite this, i didn't see them as much as "normal" friends would. I couldn't let my fellow JW's know about them.
So i seen him yesterday and ended up going for a drink with him. We had a great evening laughing and catching up. He heard i'd left the JW's and asked me over for xmas with his partner.
I apologized to him for some of the crazy things i said and spouted to him while i was "in". I was never mean to him (or any of my non JW friends for that matter) but i did parrot what WT mags said about homosexuality being a sin, and not born that way etc.
His reply: "Well i just thought you were a bit mad;) Some of my friends are. But i wouldnt change you for the world. Hey-ho we move on."
Can imagine any witness reacting like that.

Something you're not likely to see in the "Secret To Family Happiness" book. The bOrg's guide to raising children:
- put the bOrgs needs, desires and agenda before the children every time, all the time
- deprive them of the opportunity of higher education or to better themselves in any way
- when the children are old enough, pressure them to get baptized and commit to being under the bOrgs control
- advise them to pioneer instead of working when the finish high school so they have no real work experience and no money.
- Deprive them of birthdays without a really understanding why or without really agreeing with the official reason in the WT mags.
- Make sure they dont read real medical journals regarding blood transfusions or science thesis's about evolution.
- as your children get older, tell them “I love you, but I love Jehovah more”
- Make sure they only associate and speak to other JW indoctrinated children so they are socially awkward and come across as a bit weird and self righteous.
- Fill their head with baseless claims about homosexuals, atheists and people who leave the bOrg.
- If/when they see through the mind control and the blatant incompetence of the cult leaders, banish them from your home at 15 and tell them that “delinquent children need to be cut off as they are a bad influence”.
Repeat with any other children you may have.
I can relate to all but the last of these. I had to re-learn everything i was taught.

Fantastic. Laughed my head off. I've never seen the one of the fallen angels going back up to heaven though. Where's that one from?
