Only one real point per WT study...
by JW_Rogue inhas anyone else noticed that in the wt study articles the main point they want you to remember is always somewhere around paragraph 11-14?
it's like a formula.
intro and overview paragraphs 1-4. basic wt stuff 5-8 (not controversial).

In hypnosis we call this a "yes set". You get someone to agree with something minor, then get them to agree with another minor or ambiguous thing then they're more than likely to agree with the third because the brain likes consistency.
The WT are introducing a basic bible idea (yes), then another (yes) than a cult message (yes).

Our very own pale.emperor on the "shunned" podcast.......
by dubstepped inwell, i offered in one of his threads to have him on the show and posters seemed excited at the possibility and we got it done so now you can hear from the man himself on the newest episode of "shunned".
one of our very own stepped up to tell his story, well, aside from myself of course.
it was great getting to actually speak with him.. this is my first international interview for the podcast.

For those of you that listened and liked it, thank you. And thanks mike for interviewing me. It was kind of thereputic actually, and nice to not have to explain the JW terminology and loaded language as we all understand it already.
I notice that I tend to go off topic a few times (sorry!). My brain must have been in overdrive that day.

For the Conspiracy Theorists
by berrygerry ingeoff jackson speaking at a france dedication:.
then he said (i'm quoting him best i can remember, but you'll get the idea): "imagine if next week i go back to us and you see in the news that the whole gb was arrested for no reason.
how'd you react?
-
pale.emperor
Please, please, please let it be Tony Morris that gets arrested first. Let's see if his "big brother" does anything about it.
Seeing the Watchtower cult get gutted and flushed down the toilet would be a highlight of my life - but seeing that asshole get whats coming to him would be awesome.

Talked to a JW in the park
by Xanthippe inso in my lunch break at work today i walked in the park, just chilling out when a woman approached and offered me a leaflet.
didn't have to read it i knew straight away who she was.. me: my family are involved with jws.
the new world was supposed to come in the mid-seventies but it didn't.

Nicely done.
I tend to not bother taking to them now, they don't want to discuss the bible. You can tell they're not listening.
Also, last time I tried one of them said "is your name <pale.emperor>?" so obviously someone's forewarned them about me,

- Get the members to contribute their own money to buy land and materials build a new KH
- Get the members to actually build the hall themselves for free
- Sell the hall and send the money to headquarters
Can you say "scam"?
It's like coming home to find that your room mate has sold all your belongings to buy himself a new car.

A ridiculous thing I found in the old young people’s book
by Addison0998 init was in some book for young people that i found going through the watchtower library when i was doing research for old publications, i cannot believe this lunacy, i feel so bad for the teenagers at the time who had to try to take this seriously, but they’re not a high control religion or cult though, anyways here is is : .
if you sleep in a room alone and you find that you seem to feel special stress in this direction at night, you may be able to arrange matters to share a room with another member of your family.
also, you may find it helpful to sleep on your side rather than on your back or face down.. 18 another thing that may be helpful is to see to it that your clothing does not unnecessarily cause friction with the sexual organs.

Cant even have a wank in peace.
It's no wonder there's so many hasty marriages, breakups and disfellowshippings for "fornication".

A & E documentary - family fall-out
by Tallon injust seen this on exjw reddit - sickening beyond belief!.
long story short, we have not seen hubbys non identical twin nephews (jeremey and jerome) since we gave the middle finger to the jw's 7 or 8 years ago.
we last saw our nephews when they were 9 or 10ish.

This sounds rather extreme even for JWs... not saying it's not true but im not entirely convinced.

Random Thought on Drugs/Tobacco Being Sinful Under JW Doctrine
by neverendingjourney ina friend of mine was telling me about her recent trip to peru.
she said she had trouble with the altitude in certain areas of peru but the locals offered her a tea derived from the coca leaf and that helped tremendously with her symptoms.. i began to think about how i would have handled the situation as a jw given that coca contains an alkaloid that is used to produce cocaine.
in its natural form, the content is very low and the locals use it as a stimulant similar to coffee.. however, as a jw i would have probably refused to drink it viewing it as something similar to a product derived from tobacco leaves.

They'd likely pull out some ridiculous example like they did with blood transfusions "if a Dr told you to abstain from alcohol, would it be ok to transfuse it into your veins?" remember that one?
In matters such as these, it's very normal for JWs to simply say "i'll ask the elders" or "i'll have to see what the society says"... never daring to think for themselves.
My guess is, cocoa tea would likely be ok seeing as it's a stimulant like caffeine is a stimulant. I mean, caffeine in high doses can kill too. I think the point is, one needs to be in control of their own mind and body (irony), so that's why drunkenness and getting high is a no-no.

Witness No More - any thoughts?
by dozy infor those who don't know , there is an ex-jw "activist" in the north of england called mark who demonstrates outside kingdom halls , focusing on the child abuse issue and similar topics.
he regularly updates his visits on his youtube channel , which has gained something of a cult following .
occasionally ( albeit less frequently , as he is now well known ) he gets into the kh & shouts and disrupts the meeting.
-
pale.emperor
Altho I sympathise with this guy, I totally disagree with his method. He goes in and shouts (sometimes with a megaphone) and THIS is precisely what the GB want the JWs to think apostates are like.
Compare this with Zeb Leatherman. Again, it's not my method of waking up JWs but at least doesn't shout. He gets up on the platform and says a prayer highlighting the Watchtower abuses.
I don't know if storming a KH has any positive results in waking up JWs. Most likely they're more distracted by the shouting and I really don't want kids in the KH afraid of some loon coming in shouting down a megaphone.
