  i remember reading somewhere (perhaps on here?

  ) than an entire congregation disassociated and started their own congregation after decided that the gb were apostate.. was this an urban myth or is there any evidence of this?.

  It makes sense do to this, but not in a good way. It's just another sign that things are not "progressing at a fast pace" like they claim. A cult that boasts about the two most publishes magazines in the world reduced to an IKEA cabinet of wafer thin propaganda.

  So lets recap:

  • Reduced pages in the literature
  • Reduced number of mags per year
  • Encouraged to use digital publications
  • Selling KH's and merging congregations
    
  • Encouraged to "Honor J£hovah With Our Valuabl£ Thing$"

  Sounds like someone is running out of cash.

  You do realize that the biblical Mary was likely 12-14 right? Jehovah didn't have a problem impregnating that so...

  But lets talk about morals. The bible is a-ok on slavery, raping women of other nations, genocide and killing babies for the crime of not being Israelite. Is this ok with your morals?

  Going To The Meetings To Give A Witness

  e tricki've been tossing around the idea of perhaps going to a meeting in the future just to check things out i'm in no hurry this could happen months or years from now.

  i would like to give them a witness about some of the problems i see as a newly interested person checking things out.

  maybe just hanging back after coming to the meeting late and casually talking with people as a non pushy interested in what going on after some internet search led me to jw.org.

  Not that I make a habit of talking to them at the carts, but I found this method seems to get around their apostate radar...

  I ask them "So who's Jehovah? Is he, like, your prophet or something?". This makes them think I'm clueless about religion, because any theologian would know the word Jehovah.

  Then I tell them that my family are into Scientology and dont talk to me because I'm considered a "suppressive person" and "disconnected" from the religion. You'd be surprised to learn that when I said this in the past the JWs said "that's horrible". I almost broke character.

  The only time a conversation got shut down was when the JW swore blind to me that the bible doesn't advocate slavery. Of course, we all know it does. When I pointed to the scriptures he explained it away as "they were treated well, more like servants" (tell that to Hagar).

  Do old time present day active JW`s genuinely believe in overlapping generations ?

  for the life of me i can not come to terms with old timers in the "truth" who could swallow this interpretation of scripture about an overlapping generation .. when jesus spoke about "this generation" .

  are their any real bible students among younger ones any more ?.

  here are 3 bible scriptures that confirm a generation is approximately 40- 50 years long give or take a few years .. 1. matt:1 :17 abraham born 2016-18 bc jesus born 2 bc approx.

  Let's be honest, how many of us even understood the 1914 thing when we were in? I couldn't explain it in laymans terms and I believed it at the time.

  I think nowadays they believe it because the GB believe it, and they think everybody else does so they go along with it.

  Let's say 50 publishers per cong. £4.50 x 50 = £225 per visit.

  Tax free mind you.

  Bear in mind he has not mortgage and no rent to pay. His lunch and dinner is sorted by the JW wives just gushing to invite him first.

  Not a bad gig that. But then, I wouldnt want to be spending all my days knocking on doors for Watchtower. Rather him than me!

  got this surprise in my letter box today.just got my personal invite for the memorial this year, through the letter box!

  goes to show how little info they have on me.they do not even know where i live and so thinking it is a "worldy" persons house pushed one through.

  Yes they letter dropped the whole street. Didnt knock a.single door.

  A cummon now scriffmcbuff, you remember how it was. Feather-knocking and posting them through to get rid of the stack of invites you were allocated. And there was always some old biddy or asshole MS going back making a show of getting yet more invites from the desk because they'd used theirs up already.
  

  What a massive waste of time that was.

  I've never received an invitation since I've left. But then I'm regarded as a mentally diseased apostate who's a womanizer and a godless man... which to be fair to them is true apart from the mentally diseased bit.
