Pacifism is Morally Indefensible
by cofty ini have been surprised recently to see so much support by ex-jws for the watchtower's refusal to fight and kill.
in my opinion it is a vice masquerading as a virtue.
of course war should always be a last resort but there are occasions that it has to be done.

Sitting in one’s comfy chair posting about such big things is easy.
Those who actually went to war and got their butts shot off have a different opinion. My grandad is in that group having been severely wounded at Paschendaele 100 years ago last November 30. He would tell you a thing or two about warfare.
As was already pointed out, war is about financial greed. There are a few rich oligarchs running Earth and they initiate wars to get richer. They use soldiers like pawns. Nothing more.
The vets who returned from Nam have a voice, and their voice is more credible than someone who has experienced nothing.
For every “patriot” on this side, there is a “patriot” on the other side coming to patriotically kill your family the same way. Aren’t we glad that guy isn’t a coward.

Has anyone who is PIMO ever put a blunt question to a dub...
“Was the following statement true or false.”
”The Awake front page said “This magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 pass away.”
I want to ask one. I would enjoy watching them squirm.
How will they answer. They will never say “false” for nothing that emanates from Brooklyn was ever false. Oh no...
Can they squeak out a “true”... maybe, with a wordy explanation of the light getting brighter.
Then I would ask, why is Christendom now given the same space. Why do we quickly say they are false and not be patient, wait on god. Let their light get brighter.
After all, false statements are not really false, just needing of more light.

Strange
by Jrjw ina couple of times at the meetings this year we've been told that in the future we might get some strange directions from the society that might not make any sense to us.
then they've said will we show our loyalty to jehovah by still obeying?
seems a rather unusual thing to say.

Tune in to a comedian before bedtime. A little gut excercise is useful.

Should private citizens be allowed to video record law enforcement?
by Fisherman ini saw an article in the news yesterday that laws are going to be passed subjecting the police to being recorded by anyone while performing their duty or enforcing the law and encourages citizens to sue if they interfere.
some law enforcement agents become angry and confiscate recording devices from people recording them while making an arrest, etc.. it does seem that the work that the police and other government agents do is public and not private or confidential so there should be nothing to hide from the cameras.
on the other hand, how can one distinguish being shot by a camera or by a weapon until one is hit?.

Not in Connecticut.
http://www.nhregister.com/connecticut/article/Connecticut-Supreme-Court-Police-can-limit-11372119.php
If you upload a video showing a police officer beating your neighbor’s head in in Connecticut, you will go to jail for 5 years.
This is but the beginning.

Things You Still Agree With The JWs On
by Fred Franztone inaside from obvious things that most people agree on, like theft being wrong and the importance of family, i can't think of a single thing i agree with the jws on, nothing that's specific to their religion anyway.
do you have any?.

"We never solicit donations" - really?
by doubtfull1799 ininspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.
the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.
but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

I wonder if Watchtower will soon carry an article that includes Bitcoin donations. Bitcoin will still be legal tender on the new system.

I agree with Watchtower that religious bodies should partner with the United Nations. I also agree with Watchtower that the Awake should regularly contain articles “favorable to the United Nations and its objectives and programs “ And I agree with Watchtower that we should “agree to the Charter of the United Nations”.
But I also agree with Watchtower that the truth of the situation should be kept from the rank and file members
But but, I disagree with Watchtower that there should be two witnesses whenever a child is sexually abused, because that’s hard on the witnesses, they would get PTSD
