It is really horrendous to sit thru. Seems like it lasts forever and the brainwashing is getting worse every time i go (which is about once a month)

"would you drink a glass of water if it had just a tiny bit of poison in it?"
by stuckinarut2 inno doubt we have all heard that well used "illustration" in public talks etc over the years:.
"if you were handed a glass of water that looked pure, but were told it has just a tiny drop of poison in it, would you drink it?".
the society has used that illustration at length to say we should avoid all influences of every part of the world.. but, as we know, the society has had a track record of errors, false ideas and doctrines.

I wanna use an analogy on Jw's i know since every speaker from stage loves using analogies. I was thinking of one myself
If a forest fire was coming straight at your house and it was 100% going to burn your house down would you add on to your house? (jw's...NO)
So if armageddon is coming 100% we could say it is like that forest fire and it would be foolish to build at this time or invest time and money in much of anything (jw's...YES)
So why the F is it ok for the gb to build a new multimillion dollar complex? (jw's...???)

What have been some of the funniest local needs talks that you have heard?
by DaPriest ini remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.
in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.
no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.

We had one on limiting comments to 30 sec or less. And that elder would weekly remind people before the commenting started. If it went over 30 sec. you could see him start to get angry.

JWs in Russia- "Pray for those in prison"
by NikL inlast night at the midweek meeting was a part titled "pray for those in prison" or something like that.. they showed a video all about the witnesses in russia and the court battles they've been fighting of late and the hard time they have been having because of it all.. the first thing that struck me, hey, why don't you a** holes in brooklyn send these poor sods a few rubles to help them along?.
nah!
prayer is what they need.. anyway, i hadn't really followed the story so i thought i would look it up this morning and see what was in the media about the story.. on the npr website they had a big write up about it back in may of last year.... http://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2016/05/17/476898973/russias-jehovahs-witnesses-fight-extremist-label-possible-ban.

Saw this last night too and i had the same thoughts, why doesn't the society send them money since they all lost their jobs because they have to appear in court so much. Not one comment recommended that. Just pray for them specifically. I'm sure the GB is doing such while they are using their new heated therapy pool in New York.

Not one visit, 8 years in a nursing home, and not one visit!
by Raymudas Martini inmy dad{rip}, was a faithful jw since the year i was born, i'm 60, he died 2 years ago.
his last 12 years were spent in an assisted living/nursing home right in the small town where he spent the last 8 years of being an elder/pioneer.
when he went into the home, one brother would visit him regularly, but after 4 years, that friend moved away, and visitation from the locals ceased, for 8 years!!!!!!!

Very sad, but not surprising. No one cares unless they see you at the hall every meeting and in service every week. Not sure how more don't wake up to this terrible cult. -

Why Did JWs Abandon Brooklyn for the Sticks?
by Room 215 ini may have missed this, but can anyone tell me what was the pretext the gb concocted to justify their abandonment of a perfectly suitable, high-profile, high-visibility complex in what is arguably the world's greatest metropolis for the bucolic isolation of upstate new york.
any how does the move square with their purported belief in the imminence of armageddon?

Jehovah God is Real
by TakeOffTheCrown inthere are many on this site that do not believe that jehovah truly exists; that he is not a real being.
but, he is as real as next breath you draw into your nostrils.. some of you say that there is no evidence that he exists.
yet, none of you can prove that he does not exits.. cofty, (you come to mind), i appreciate that you have stated, without reservation, that you do not believe that god exists.. yet, you cannot prove it.. hope in jehovah..

Let me tell you a story:
This story involves some members of the Christian Congregation. These ones were baptized under their given names becoming members of the Congregation.
One day, they saw this large edifice off into the distance. They became very curious and decided to enter. Inside, were those dressed in long black robes with diadems on their heads. And, on these diadems, were inscribed their new names - their Usernames. The ones in the black robes were speaking the most vile things. Taunting Jehovah’s people and cursing him.
Lol, yes that large ediface is in Warwick and those inside wearing the black robes are the governing body. They are Gogs people indeed. (though they recently flip flopped on who gog really is)

Sanctimonious, "WE'RE Thankful EVERY day."
by stillin inthanksgiving is really just a nice, traditional, family-oriented day set aside on a national level.
no babylon the great.
give me a break with the holier than thou, "we don't celebrate thanksgiving.

Yet most Jw's will be getting together with family and friends today just like everyone else. They just won't call it Thanksgiving.

Canada Bethel (Georgetown) to begin renovations early 2017
by Richard_I ina letter was just read at my midweek meeting that georgetown (canada bethel) will have renovations done on it beginning spring 2017. the letter asked for publishers who are electricians/plumbers/etc.
and in good standing to apply to help out.
those helping out will be considered "part-time commuters" and will only be at the property for about 3 days a week and must reside outside of bethel and pay for all their own expenses.

Did they remind them to donate money also?

So, how did the 'beard article' go over yesterday at your congregation?
by neat blue dog inat mine the conductor was somewhat awkward and minimal and there were nervous chuckles from the audience.
two people, including an elder, gave reasonable comments that it's okay as long as it's not extreme styles, etc.
but then another one of the elders commented that nothing has changed and they still aren't proper locally.

I recorded the comments, i'll have to see if i can figure out how to upload them. Nothing too negative said about them at my hall, but at another hall locally the conductor said its clear they aren't accepted around here because if they were then brothers would be wearing them. I don't think it'll change much around here after the article. Witlesses need the clear o.k. to grow them and nothing is ever clear in the W.T.
