WT & Awake Subscription Procedure

i moved into a new area several months ago, and my subscriptions to the watchtower and awake magazines expired.

(note: i'm baaad, not attending meetings in my new area.).

so it'd be easy to renew my subscription, right?

Hi,

Here in Sweden an x-Jw is in process to take the Society to court for refusal to send him a subscription. It's a so called discrimination law here that says something that no company/society can refuse to sell or give something, that they offer to the public, because of a persons race/faith/religion etc.

The x-jw has everything documented. Letters from the society that says he is not allowed an subscription. Payment for it. Etc
A lawier is taking the case.

Since they refuse subscriptions to apostats both here and in Usa it is probably a new direction from the old GB.

since the courtcases in moscow and france are on the wall, what are your thoughts on this.. should authorities act by making laws against destructiv sects?.

what kind of laws, and what criteria should identify a destructiv sect?.

Hi Seeker,

I agree mostly with you. But what about a law that makes it illigal for any organisation to try to controll or make any sanctions against those members that leave and, when it comes to Jw, decide that they can take a bloodtransfusion.

A law that, so to say, recuire the religion to respect the members freedom of changing religion and faith without sanctions or controll.

When did Jw really get "free from Babylon...

as i understand a person who wants to be a witness must send a resignation letter to his former church or denomination.

this must be done even if the person never been active in that church.

for exampel if a person got baptised as a baby in a church and then some decades after want to be a witness you have to write a letter of resignation to that church, even if you havent set your foot in that church for years.

The 1919 liberation doctrine is really a paradox.

Still i am short of the answere on the question: What year did the Society made it a requirment to all it's members to write a letter of resignation to there former church/religion?

who are the governing body?

jehovah witness when mentioning "governing body" they say it like if they knew who these people are.

i asked one jw to mentioned their names and couldn't answer me.

so what is so special if they don't know the names, lives, background, of these people?

What struck me is that of the elleven GB members there is only 3 that where baptised before the "the heavenly call" was completed in 1933 (i think).
So eight of the members state that they are of the anoited class although (they say) the heavenly call was complete when they become Jw.

B: Christianity, dogma nb 1 “Those who belive in Jesus Christ will be saved”

I can’t get A and B in agreement. With B comes that those not beliving in Jesus will not get saved. Since the christian God will give salvation only to those that belive they must be more worthy then the other who doesn’t belive. So in the cristian Gods eyes all humans are not equal, and this leads to that those who follow this God doesn’t think that all humans are equal. Some people are worthy of this free? gift of everlasting life and some are not worthy of it. And this goes against A. Conclusion is that christianity is not in agreement with UN:s human right articel nb 1. Am i right or wrong?

This thing that salvation by faith in Jesus and not by works leads to that someone can do a lot of good things and never hurt anybody but if he/she doesn’t belive in Jesus, sorry mate. And if someone act as a bunghole (learned that word on the chat with some aussies) and belives in Jesus will be saved.

Greetings from a swede who for the last year have lurked a lot on H2O and now here. Now i am an inactive Jw who are in the process of slowly fade away but have problems how and when to tell my family.

I've been searching in the WT Cd-rom 1950-1999 but haven't find anything there. The "requirement" came probably before 1950.

Recently the WT have been stating more then ones that they got liberated from Babylon 1919. That they got "out from her". My logic is that if many Bible students at that time still were members (although inactive) in other churches, and wasn't told to leave, then their statement that they got liberated is proven false.
I want to use this argument but first i want to be sure i am right.

It may be hard to believe, but the singer who once provoked shock waves with his X-rated lyrics has sworn off cursing and is preaching about the importance of virtue in the May edition of Gotham magazine.

Prince, who is now a Jehovah's Witness, said that "when you use those (curse) words, you call up all the anger, all the negatives times the word has been used before -- you bring it toward yourself. Why would you want that?"

Prince also told the magazine that teens need more God in their lives.

And in some countries you become a member automaticaly at birth in the state religion and even if you are not active there you have to abolish your membership to qualify to become a Jw.

My question is: When did this become a must requirement in the society? Was it before, after or at 1919?

I would appriciate very much some info on this.

My suspicion is that it was long after 1919 this become a requirement. If so they rely can’t claim that they got delivered from Babylon the great since there wasn’t a requirement to get out of her.
