I believe you are referring to the simplified edition which has a slightly different wording. The study edition seems to be the same (I just checked.). However, I noticed something interesting in the simplified edition at the top of pg 26. It states,"And all of us show respect for our Leader, Jesus, by obeying the men he is using today."
Therefore, the GB are likening themselves to Jesus and are stating that their every decree should be obeyed. This is so damned cultish!

I see. Even though it hints at 120 years equaling a generation, it doesn't explicitly state 2034.

This is just another idiotic belief. Think of all the animals which have specialised features for eating meat. For example, the sabre tooth tiger (now extinct):

By having the desire to be convinced of anything, you increase the likelihood of drawing incorrect conclusions. You certainly would be biased towards the prefered conclusion.
E.g. If I want to believe that my partner isn't cheating, I will be unable to see the evidence, even if its staring me in the eye.

Scholars think that the original name might be Yahweh. However, there is no way to be sure. I also read that the reason why other bibles use the words "Lord" and "God" instead of Jehovah is because the people of the day thought that the actual name was too holy to mention. Hence, they would use Adonai (Lord) and not say the actual name.
The name Jehovah arised over time via mispronounciation etc.

By now, 144,000 anointed would have died and gone to heaven since the 1st century. Thus, their doctrine is false. Consider below:
(Acts 1:15) "During those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brothers (the number of people was altogether about 120) and said..."
(Acts 2:4) "and they all became filled with holy spirit and started to speak in different languages, just as the spirit enabled them to speak."
(Acts 2:41) "So those who gladly accepted his word were baptized, and on that day about 3,000 people were added."
(Acts 2:47) "At the same time Jehovah continued to add to them daily those being saved."
So in only one day 3120 were anointed with holy spirit and Jokehova anointed more and more daily. Given such a rate of anointing, then surely in one year, 144,000 would have been gathered. If we also add the thousands of anointed from Jokehova's Weeknesses since 1914 then we would surely have far more than 144,000.
Hence, it is plain to see that this is just another failed doctrine.
okay there has been lots of buzz about the feb 2017 wt where they say the governing body is not inspired nor infallible.
yet, they are still using the baptism questions.
the second one being... "do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah’s witnesses in association with god’s spirit-directedorganization?".
wherease of course the phrase "spirit directed", means that the spirit directed us to find the right decision for the benefit of the preaching work in our office as ruling authority e.g. the spirit directed the GB lately in the decision to withdraw from New York and to invest in Warwick. [also not new]
Therefore, when Watchtower made the decision to coverup child sex abuse or to send home bethelites or to impose a ban on blood which kills many, they are being directed by holy spirit.
