Jehovah`s Witnesses an Old Testament Religion

jehovah`s witnesses claim to be a christian religion , however looking at their history , publications ,such as the watchtower and awake mags., their conventions ,international ,regional ,local ,etc.their books pamphlets ,brochures ,etc.etc.

you are hard pressed to find references to the new testament and references to jesus and his ministry .. they seem to be more focused on the old testament , and the god of the old testament.jehovah.

even in their dramas at conventions , international and local events they are pre-occupied with old testament accounts and experiences , and not christian experiences , examples or ,lives to emulate .. they claim to be a christian religion and very seldom do they highlight the name of jesus , or his teachings , they are fixed on the old testament name of jehovah , and what he did in the old testament.

Smiddy, I too have always been baffled by the unyielding hyper-focus on OT especially when it comes to Jewish laws that somehow correspond with what WT wants people to do.

Years ago I began to wonder why we never talked about worshipping Christ if we claim to be Christians. I read in the now out of print reasoning book that it is okay to worship Christ, yet that point is never discussed from the KH platform in depth, but of course, Jesus is just an angel, remember? Ugh.

The org is neither Christian nor following Jewish law as it was intended to be followed. It's a weird conglomeration of a controlling business that poses as religion and interprets scripture however the GB wishes.

The memorial beauty pageant

since the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!

the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.

in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

Oh yes Black Wolf, I remember those days crystal clear. I was always the one who pushed the limit on my dresses. Skirts above the knees *gasp*.

Some of the worst are middle aged sisters who are trying to prove they still "got it" by showing up in a second hand store prom dress. Oh what these eyes have seen. Wish I could wash them out with soap:-P

TBH the sisters looking like frumpy Amish are no better. I'm tempted to show up in a pantsuit this year. Maybe in a skinny suit!

protesters shut down a trump rally.

massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.

there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.

Ok, I'm not a Trump supporter. He freaks me out. But, it is so lame how people riot at his campaign rallies. It's nuts. I honestly think it boosts his popularity more than anything.

2nd amendment right ... where should it end?

one thing i like to do to test a theory is to take things to extremes or to their logical conclusion to see if the premises still hold.

very often, a claim that seems to make sense at a superficial level falls apart when you start to stretch it a little.. so let's play a game.. suppose the 2nd amendment is valid, that some "well regulated militia" really is necessary to hold the government to account.. obviously when this was drafted the government had access to the weapons of it's day which would be muskets!

so muskets all round.

objectively speaking, but for the religion, did you have enough in common with your spouse to have met and married as non believers?

There is no way on earth my husband would have married me if I wasn't a JW. If we weren't JW's I probably would've married him (the religion thing wasn't a factor for me), but the sad part is that he lied about himself all through our dating. He told me he wanted a family and kids--nope! He said he loves camping and the outdoors--hell no! He claimed he respected women--not a chance! I'm really bitter over my marriage lately. I feel totally duped.

TALKING NONSENSE by using words attached to nothing

especially in listening to people who "believe" things (spirituality, faith, etc.

) do i hear words being used which are nonsense.. i'm a person who cherishes words in a weird, almost fetishistic way :)i discovered this quite young.

i was drawn to complicated word patterns and liked to repeat them.

Ok, I found your previous post about what was in that email. The whole Geoffrey Jackson lying to the ARC was a biggie for me too. This religion is such a sick cult. It's good to hear that you and your husband know ttatt and are making plans for your future:-).

The "most honest people" on earth....?

have we noticed how often the society uses comments like this?.

"jehovah's witnesses are the most honest people...etc".

while it may be true that witnesses as a whole are decent, law abiding people, are they truely "honest" when the very foundation of beliefs are based on mistruths?.

Another that drives me bonkers: "JW's are the happiest people on earth," (Riiight...Tell that to the local pharmacist).

Partaking of emblems

this year will be my first for by going to the memorial.

i will get asked by my parents how i can deny jesus even if i don't believe the end is close.

my thoughts on this are as follows, bear in mind saying it's all make believe is not an option.. i think that jesus intended for everyone to eat the bread and drink the wine.

I get what you're saying, you don't feel the need to play their game because they aren't really playing by the rules--the real rules--that Christ established regarding the bread and wine.

Do what you think is best, or whatever is most convenient for you. I'm having to go so my husband doesn't divorce me, but I am making it clear way in advance that I think the whole JW ceremony is bogus. I mean, show me in the Bible where Jesus said, "My followers who want to live forever on earth need to reject my blood and flesh that I gave on their behalf. They must stupidly sit, bored and drooling, while the heaven-bound accept the emblems."
