Psychopaths, atheists and agnostics
by Fernando ina naughty attention grabbing heading i admit - i'm sorry, just couldn't resist.
obviously we all know atheists and agnostics have nothing in common with psychopaths.
in fact i would hold that atheists and agnostics generally have better functioning consciences than religionists.

Questions From Thinkers
by Perry inhow do you explain david's graphic portrayal of jesus' death by crucifixion (psalm 22) 1000 years before christ lived?.
how do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) old testament prophecies were fulfilled in jesus christ?.
in what sense was jesus a "good man" if he was lying in his claim to be god?.

So you see students, the archaic notion of God violates the cause and effect principle.
Perry: Isn't time a function of matter? Time exists when matter exists. If God is outside of time, he can be the uncaused cause. That is perfectly logical.
That's it buster. One more disrespectful outburst like that and you'll go see the Principal.

In what sense was Jesus a "good man" if He was lying in His claim to be God?
If Jesus' resurrection was faked, why would twelve intelligent men (Jesus' disciples) have died for what they knew to be a lie?
How can something as small as a brain understand extremely complicated aspects of the universe, even though it is (supposedly) just a bunch of chemical reactions and electrical signals? But at the same time, this brain can’t create another brain like itself, so how can nature, that has no brain, create a brain?
Why can't this brain even create a simple living twig?
Why is the simple cell likened to the complexity of large functioning city by experts?
Is it absolutely true that "truth is not absolute" or only relatively true that "all things are relative?"
What do you say about the hundreds of scholarly books that carefully document the veracity and reliability of the Bible?
Have you ever considered the fact that Christianity is the only religion whose leader is said to have risen from the dead?
Why don't non-believers refer to Jesus as the late Jesus Christ?
If the authorities stole Jesus' body, why?
Why would they have perpetrated the very scenario that they most wanted to prevent?
If Jesus merely resuscitated in the tomb, how did He deal with the Roman guard posted just outside its entrance?
How can one realistically discount the testimony of over 500 witnesses to a living Jesus following His crucifixion (see 1 Corinthians 15:6)?
What do you make of all the anthropological studies indicating that even the most remote tribes show some sort of theological awareness?
If every effect has a cause, then what or who caused the universe?
How do you explain the thousands of people who have experienced heaven or hell and have come back to tell us about it?
How do you explain the cosmological constant?
Is it wrong to ask such questions? Why?

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

How many have gotten interested in Human Services, Charity, Social Justice, Social Work and the like after awakening to Watchtower aberrance?
by Fernando inwhilst under watchtower influence i had little interest or awareness in these areas.. now they have become a passion.. i wonder if it has something to do with the "cult identity or self" versus the "authentic identity or self" as outlined by steven hassan in the "interacting with dual identities" chapter of his book "releasing the bonds - empowering people to think for themselves".. who has had a similar experience and/or change of career related to unplugging from the watchtower?.
or a story to tell?.

3. jehovah is salvation.
5. jehovah wants only himself to be worshipped.

Agreed Tammy. When I accepted Christ on his terms, I didn't believe for sure or not if he was God. I didn't let that stand in my way.

Who has "reverted back to apostate [Christian] doctrines"
by biometrics inif you were a jehovah's witness have you "reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by christendom"?.
"from time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of jehovah's people those who, like the original satan, have adopted an independent, faultfinding attitude...they say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home.
but, strangely, through such 'bible reading,' they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by christendom's clergy were teaching 100 years ago...".

1954 Fred Franz court statement:"God does not deal in Temples made with hands."
by kepler inwriting on a topic and writing an essay: are they the same thing?
i suspect that ranging too wide on a topic is an error to avoid in this medium.. earlier, while examining issues drawing from genesis, hebrews and court testimony of frederick franz in scotland in 1954, i came across a statement that only very slowly sank in.
as background on the jehovah's witnesses for the walsh petition case for exemption from government service, it was stated in the strachan vs. walsh testimony that the line of witnesses was unbroken from the time of abel.
