i`m only halfway through chapter 4 and enjoying what i have read so far .so why am i asking for peoples comments now ?
the reason i have is this : i wish i had done something like this when i first was approached by the witnesses ,i beleive i would have been more informed to make some enlightened decisisions that would eventually shape my future .. whereas not doing so i spent the next 33 years a slave of the watchtower , and not just me but my wife and children , not that i`m suggesting i would be a slave of richard dawkins , but i can weigh up the pros and cons as i progress through his book ,then hopefully i can draw the right conclusions , if their are any.. smiddy.

Many people who call themselves atheists are really agnostic because an atheist is an inherent impossibility, which is just exactly what Dawkins admits when pinned down. Of course, he would like to have it both ways, at times claiming each when it seems expedient to him.

This is called a "thought stopping cliche'". These kinds of phrases are designed to quell cognitive dissonance.
The atheist position is a logical imposibility loop. That is an easily provable fact. You cannot change that fact. It was true yesterday, today and it will be true throughout all eternity. I am not personally picking on you in pointing this out.... so please don't take it personal.
Agnosticism, which is admitting that a person is personally ignorant regarding whether or not God exists, is where many people end up.

It is based on the false premise that atheism is a positive assertion that there is no god - it isn't.
Of course that is just exactly what atheism is according to the dictionary..... as I pointed out and provided an example of.

Cofty, are you going ot answer my question about how you can claim to be an atheist since that REQUIRES you to be omnipresent. This is very simple logic.

Yes the 'ole Methodist church. They one I used to attend (the first church after JWdom) was full of events and fun stuff but light on real believers walking in the spirit.
They even had a self-lead SS class for bi-polars. I always wondered how they cooridinated their leadership since you'd probably never know who was "up" that day and who was"down" until the last minute.
