What constitutes 'proof' on JWN?
by besty inrecently there have been a few threads where claims have been made alledging personal negative effects in 'real life' following internet activity on jwn and other ex-jw related sites.
discussion then ensues, aspects of which may include 3rd parties either disputing the truth or affirming the likelihood of the claim.
questions are asked.

Size Doesn't Matter but a FALSE PREMISE does!
by Terry inedward bishop elliot, anglican theologian and scholar, began a massive undertaking in 1837. .
by the time he finished his two-thousand five hundred page book, hours with the apocalypse, he may as well have created a highly-contagious virus in a test tube!.
his book contained 10,000 modern and ancient references toward developing a prophetic school of interpretation.. this tome became the masterwork foundation for any who dared diddle in bible prophecy for decades to come.

The consensus of scholars would be evidence.
I agree that is important. But, here's a couple links on the vulnerabilities of "science" that is important to keep in mind.

designs,
Christianity is virtually unique in that it alone claims that every person will be judged after they die:
Heb. 9:27 "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment"
It is also virtually alone in that it states unequivocally that "there is no one righteous, no, not one"
It is also true that it ALONE claims that the penalty for unrighteousness has already been paid, and that one merely needs to believe upon Jesus to escape the penalty of judgment.
Christianity bears little resemblence to works based belief systems.

Perry, good to see you. Where have you been?
I have been busy growing my business, bank account, ministry, children etc. God is good.
Was the "prophecy" written BEFORE or AFTER the event described.
So, what would constitute "enough proof" for you that a prophecy was written BEFORE its fulfillment?

The single thing all such false prophets have in common is a core belief that the BIBLE contains DIVINELY INSPIRED data.
The bible contains many fulfilled prophecies that would have been unable to be orchrastrated by man, thus leading many to ascribe divine authorship. All false prophets eat food, but that does not in anyway imply that eating food causes you to prophesy falsely.
A much more common belief about false prophets is their seeming unaminity in believing that their "expertise" ALONE is needed to interpret what God has said.
Remember how Russell came to believe that his writings were necessary for a person to "properly" understand the bible? That's why he encouraged the idea that HE was THE Faithful and Wise Servant.

Jeffro wonders:
What's with the weird affectation the speaker uses when 'imitating' the voices of hypothetical 'worldly' or 'disfellowshipped' people. Truly pathetic.
Jeffro, it's called mocking someone. In this case the speaker is mocking members of the public for questioning the shocking practice of shunning close family members for many times just minor theological differences or personal indiscrteions. Mocking has become acceptable in recent decades as an oratory technique. And, you are right: it IS pathetic. Might as well stay a mental 10 year-old if our society allows this kind of pathos.
Just a reminder from the Word at Jude 1:
"But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, ... These be they who separate themselves, ...having not the Spirit. But ye, ... Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."

Eye witness testimony fom the eye-witness himself is considered universally as good evidence, even proof. The Watchtower has befuddled the meaning of the term because as JW's we werent really witnesses of anything that Jehovah had done in our lives. I never went to one door and told the homeowner one thing that Jehovah had done in my life.
Now, as a Christian, I could talk for probably an hour about the things God has done in my life and in the lives of my wife and children.

When I got baptized, they "forgot" to tell me that Jesus was not my mediator. Just a small little omission. Then, when I finally got right with God through the blood of the New Covenant, I got shunned for figuring it out.
The more they push this stuff, the more the public figures out what their game is.

The Watchtower Writers need to answer this question "Atheism, not religion, is the real force behind the mass murders of history!"
by ÁrbolesdeArabia inhow come the watchtower will not side with christendom and address a topic like the following?
what if christendom had allowed islam to spread it's plunder into europe without a fight and great force?
i direct your attention to islam spreading not as a distraction, but to ask the question most atheist have asked me when we talk of this subject.

God has already pegged billions for death
Don't all die, in your view naturally? Death as the instrument of creativity is the foundation of secularism not Christianity.
Christianity claims to bridge the gap between "natural" death and life and proved it in the resurrection of Jesus. God is a God of the living, not the dead.
