Satan is a master of deception. Because our natures are opposed to God, we seek either ourselves or others to lead us. If you are flying upside down in an airplane and look out the window at an image that is also upside down, how could you tell?

"Observing" The Lord's Supper
by Perry inthe wt plays lots of word games.
one of my favorites is their tracts that talk about "observing" the "lord's evening meal".
of course they cannot call it the lord's supper like the rest of western civilization.

Getting Rid of Left-Over JW Superstitions
by GloomySunday ini've been only out for about a year now, but still have some left-over superstitions, that i was hoping someone could help me get rid of.
firstly, i'd like to say that i don't think these are rational, but they keep bothering me, and i have some anxiety/paranoia problems that most likely are the cause.. i'm embarrassed by these silly things, and am young and have not been out long, so i'd assume this is to be an expected symptom.. what i usually keep doing is looking for patterns in everything, like if jws come to the door, i start interpreting it to mean that god sent them, or some such silliness.. or when watchtower or awake!
magazines come out, i keep applying the topics to what i've been thinking about, or what has happened recently.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.My JW phobias didn't go away until I got right with God through faith in Jesus ALONE. When you have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, you'll never forget it. No more fear.

Fading fast children are starting to ask questions, need help.
by Crazyguy inok i have been fading fast, missed a lot of meetings over the past couple of months and the kids think its mostly do to my being busy with work.
this morning was probably the first sunday that i was home and could go but did not.
so my 8 year old asked me if i was going and why when i said no.

I would eventually tell my children when I joined this church no one told me that Jesus would not be my mediator if I did.
Of course, this should probably be discussed with your wife first.

Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age
by *lost* infirst time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.
showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.
and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

Wow....that was very descriptive & familiar.... especially all the bathroom breaks. The bathroom breaks are unique to Jehovah's Witneeses. I haven't noticed them in any other church that I've attended in the past 10 years of church attending. But then again, if your salvation is dependent upon being in "good standing" with a particular church, I suppose you could sit through just about anything as long as you could leave frequently to wake yourself up.

The WT plays lots of word games. One of my favorites is their tracts that talk about "Observing" the "Lord's Evening Meal". Of course they cannot call it the Lord's Supper like the rest of western civilization. That would too religious. Yes, "The Lord's Evening Meal" sounds more formal, "appropriate" , even institutional ....kinda like a bethel evening meal, or a mental institution evening meal. But, excuse me I digress.
If you ask any JW if they reject the Lord's Supper you will likely be met with a gasp of disbelief at the very thought of such a a thing, followed by a quick assertion that do in fact observe the Lords Evening Meal every year.
Here's were the word "observe" deceives them. The word observe has two meanings. One meaning is to look at something, quietly, somberly, curiously, even intently.
Another meaning of the word is to participate in a customary activity. For instance, The Chinese observe the Chinese New Year. They shut down the factories for 2 to 3 weeks each year and all the laborers go back to their respective villages for some much needed time off. They throw parties and participate in the customary rites of that holiday.
JW's do indeed OBSERVE the Lord's supper. They watch intently, somberly, even curiously as the customary components of that holiday is passed to them. Then, without participating, they then observe the emblems being passed away from them and rejected by other observers.
In the JW mind, they think they have just celebrated the Lord's Supper. When questioned by uninformed non-JWs they are quickly quieted when the JW assures them that he does indeed observe the Lord's Supper.
Aren't words quirky, slippery little things?
