In search of WWWW (What's Wrong with Watchtower)

in more than 40 years of doorknocking not a single person was ever able to sit down with me and kindly and patiently explain exactly "what's wrong with watchtower" in simple terms and baby-steps that i could grasp at the time.. of course i have to admit it is not as easy as one might hope.. this morning one possible (not simple enough) summary came to mind:.

the bible promotes belief in jesus and the liberating and transforming gospel message about him (in both the nt and ot).. the watchtower instead promotes belief in a visible golden calf and pseudo-mediator between god and man in the form of:.

blind authoritarian clerics who have co-opted the word "elder" and turned it into a title (aka apostate "clericalism").

One nice Christian lady took the time to explain to me that Christians believe in a "paradise earth". I was dumbfounded and didn't know what to talk about since we both believed the same thing on this topic.

I now know that both Christians and Jehovah's Witnesses refer to this future time period as Christ's Millennium Reign. The term "paradise earth" doesn't appear in scripture.

It would be helpful if Christians could explain to JW's how they are personally saved through the blood of Christ and that this is necessary because there will be a personal judgment after a person dies according to Hebrews 9: 27... even in the NWT bible.

How do flood apologists explain these?

Incidentally, live mollusks off the Hawaiian coast have had their shells dated with the carbon-14 method. These test showed that the shells died 2000 years ago.

Why Do Atheists Struggle So Much Against God Who Supposedly Doesn't Exist?

Reason, evidence and rational discussion are enemies of faith.

If you watched the video you would understand the such statements prove you know that God exists, deep down. Athiests have wrought the severest from of self-deception upon themselves by borrowing the reason and rationality that could only be possible but for God. Reason and rationality are not products of random chaos, chance, and mindless happenstance....but are consistent with intellect. The very thing the atheist denies.

Like a spoiled child the atheist uses God-given tools, which are consistent with intellect and not mindless chance to attack the very source of that reason and rationality. This is a very big problem for the atheist.... as well as the half dozen or so other impossibliites and self deceptions described in the video.

As an atheist, how could he possibly trust the reason that suggests this to himself? If reality is simply a chance happenstance, how can the reason that results from the chaos the atheist presupposes be trusted?

What scientists are saying is that atheists deep down believe in order and reason which are not the product of chance and chaos, but are consistent with being made in the image of God. In other words, you need to borrow certain things from the Christian worldview in order to struggle against it.

In other words, Atheists Don't Exist.

Every person who is born again of the Spirit knows God is real.

...And what a wonderful supernatural knowing that is. From my own experience, it is more like an introduction than a knowing. Very similar to being introduced to the most perfect gentleman you could ever want to meet.

For as much as the new atheists campaign against God (even though he supposedly doesn't exist) what scientists are actually finding out is that it is becomming more and more provable that it is atheists themselves who do not exist.

Ironic isn't it?

Some of my fondest memories are of going to a Kingdom Hall on a Saturday morning and introducing myself as a member of such and such church and was wondering if I could ask them some questions to possibly clear up some things that their ministers at my door couldn't answer.

One elder was completely unaware that Jesus wasn't the Mediator for the Great Crowd. He laughinngly stated that if what I was telling him was true, that he was in the wrong religion.

He agreed to check it out, others were listening.

All Christians should educate themselves a little about JW's and liberate as many as possible before its too late.

Preach on!

is there a more disgusting phrase in jw land?.

the abuse, harms, thefts, suicides, family destruction - leave it in jehovah's hands.. why would anyone with a more than 2 neurons say, "oh that makes sense," we do not need to change or intervene in any way.. sooner or later, god will take of things.. .

I spent 20 years as an elder (off and on) but after the 1995 "generation" change, forced by the expiration date of the 80 year generation, I began to have very serious doubts, not just the normal jw doubts that all jw's have. I began to question just about everything and especially the many changes regarding 'blood fractions', more 'generation' changes, FDS is now the GB, etc. I was suffering from advanced cognitive dissonance and basically quit attending meetings and no FS at all.

That November 1995 issue of the WT is what did it for me too. I suffered a lot as a 12 & 13 year old when the end didn't come in '75. It took until I was 23 to trust again. Then at age 32 that generation article came out and so did my anger at the WT for presuming to speak in the name of God so presumptously. I immediatley rented my house out and moved off to get a university education. It was about another 8 years before I could trust God. When I finally did, I realized that really trusting God, apart from religion was totally foreign to me as a being, not just as an x-jw.

This realization came as quite a surprise because I was totally committed to "doing good" according to the watchtower for 8 years. Even though I had left the WT, I was still proud of what I thought was belief in God during my years of whloehearted service. Through a re-reading of the bible, I slowly came to realize that my WT experience was just another of my many rebellions against God and the gifts he had been trying to give me for a long time.

God is good.

I just had fun giving a talk!

so, unfortunately, i'm still on the tms and had a talk tonight (in front of a co, no less) and the talk was on the subject of adultery.

in the source material there's reference to "spiritual adultery" i.e.

idolotry or when israel had alliances with pagan nations.

Ten years after leaving the WT and attending a bible believing church, I have yet to hear a sermon on "Adultery". Why do JW's have to be continually reminded of things that EVERYBODY (even the world in this case) agrees is wrong?

Excellent advice if you have made peace with God through the blood of Jesus.

Very bad advice if you have not.

WT Wizard: my experience with God has been the opposite as you fear. 10 years ago I was poor, single at 40 and miserable. After making peace with God and presiding wisely over the gifts he has sent my way. I have a wonderful family, a very profitable business and much more joy and peace in my life. But like I mentioned above, this is really bad advice while we are still God's enemy with only Judgment to look forward to......which we all were as Children of Adam at birth.
