My money is on the bet that she previously had serious issues with men, ....abused by, addicted to, and abused men previously.

Abaddon, In my original post which you took issue with to an unprecented degree and initialy chose a condecending approach to; my thesis was since there has never been a society with out a religion in the history of man, how different are current ideologies in terms of function, even though they choose to call it something else.
Even before you chose to present an argument you poisoned the well by attacking me for being biased and for Christians. What difference could that possibly make to my material ?
Honestly, I can't see where that charge has any merit since I never said I was promoting Christianity....only fairness.
On the other hand,you showed a clear bias by presenting your affinity for Humanism and using it to support position. This was thoroughly destroyed. Since Humanism is clearly religious even by its own admissions in its literature, you appeared very foolish and directly contricted yourself.
You have not put forth any evidence to show what the distinction is. It appears that you got rather upset and resorted to personal attacks and attempted to bog the conversation down in semantics as in the example below.
Look at this;

Okay, maybe being obtuse is your thang, but ignoring your rather dense prose (as in heavy, not stupid, but ARE you realted to ANita Loomba?), I ask you; define 'unethical' (as in specific actions which would be unethical) without an underlying ideology. The above quoted phrase is so close to meaningless as to pass as meaningless, unless adequately qualified, which it is not.
If you don't know what ethics is, how can you claim an affinity to Secular Humanism since that is a major part of that philosophy? In any case; wouldn't a simple dictionary definition do?Any way we could go on for days splitting definition hairs and chasing your red herrings or yoiu could simply present an argument instead of attacking me.
I'll ask you again to please not to denegrate yourself and this thread and
PLEASE POINT OUT TO US WHAT THE FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENCE IS BETWEEN POPULAR IDEOLOGIES AND HISTORICAL RELIGIONS.
In other words please point out the effect that an ideology has on a person/society and then tell us how those effects are essentially different from a religious one.

Are Flamers & Atheists More Mature Than JW's?

this is how m.scott-peck describes the 4 basic stages of spiritual development.
personally i can relate to stage 3 quite comfortably, but if i talk to a witness who may be a very devout and religious person i often feel as though this person is dragging me back into a lower stage, generally stage 2. what do you think?.

I haven't had this much fun since obliging my sociology professor to retract certain statements as fact and admit they were opinion to the class.
After several days of silence, you have managed to make several more grave errors in your reasoning, continue to argue on points we are in agreement with; and thirdly, you finally get around to approaching something of substance in at least one instance.
I will take each catagory and deal with it as succintly as possible. It is the last catagory that I hope a meaningful discussion will emerge.
I am leaving for business in L.A. in a few hours and will return late Friday evening. I thank you for presenting your opinions and I look forward to discussing them Saturday morning.

Quit taking this stuff so seriously.
Well, let me just say that it was evidently serious enough for you to make your outlandish statements.
I'll tell you why I believe that this is serious. Many people come here with very raw and sensitive emotions. They are flabergasted that they have been duped for years if not decades; then its compounded by the loss of family and a support system.
It is in this condition that they face more manipulation by people who esentially say, " if you don't believe anything you'll never be ripped off again, you'll be free". Then the thought evangelist contradicts himself goes on to espouse his views as if they are superior to others.
After having suffered much personal loss at the behest of the WBTS, it fills me with a sense of intellectual revulsion to observe unethical marketing of ideas, especially to those ill equipped to deal with it.

For some time now, I have been looking for a woman who wants to get into some quality mobilehome life and can do a little welding from time to time.
But damnit, every time a find a good woman welder, she's either got the wrong kind of tatoos and piercings or has teeth missing.

The fact of the matter is that the athiest must believe in the supernatural on the question of origins.
However, even if some people concede that the position is merely lack of belief, the ideological structures built on athiesm can indeed be controlling and threaten your very freedom.
By advocating the maddeningly false reasoning that says: "because athiesm is innocous, its subsequent ideologies, social policies, and political implications are beyond the need for scrutiny and accountability", the aethistic evangelist hopes to disarm any resistence to his/her agenda.
It's just marketing....nothing more. It is amazing that this kind of childish reasoning is even attempted here, since many of us are very leary of and attuned to this kind of manipulation since having survived the WBTS.
Don't fall for the aethistic evangelist's false reasoniong. It is merely an attempt to avoid discussion of its usefulness and viability in people's live.
While I concede that athiesm is just as logically valid a position as theism, I have always wondered why it's promoters usually avoid provocative discussion of its effects on society and the individual.
It begs the question: What are they afraid of?
