I think you have to first figure out by what authority you define "normal".

Thus the fact that today there is still a remnant of the 144,000 on earth would show that down to this twentieth century fewer than 144,000 finished their earthly course in faithfulness.
Interesting Fact

(4) Now is the time for any who may be putting their trust in secular education, material things, or human institutions to adjust their thinking.
By all means we should follow this advice. The WTBTS is a human institution. All of their corporations have human presidents, board members, stockholders etc.
What they really mean is that people should only go to the Elders for their thinking readjustments and not be reading the bible on their own.
Here an elder and ministerial servant is helping a member who was questioning the wisdom of rejecting the New Covenant in light of the changes to the "generation" doctrine to mean an indefinite period of time. After, they were done, he had no more questions.

Excellent catch Vanderhoven.
Europe also saw the eradication of as many of 50 Million bible-believing Christians during the 800 year reign of terror of the papal Inquisitions in the middle ages.
All before 1914.

Jesus CHANGED world history. He is the greatest therapist/miracle worker who ever lived. And, he gives his services for FREE.
Every nation on earth counts time by this mans birth.
His enemies give testimony of his miracles:
Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. - John 11: 47
Historians grant him this:
Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome - Tacitus
The "most mischievious superstition" was an obvious unspeakable reference to Jesus stunning resurrection from death on a Roman crucifixion. How else do you explain the peaceful transformation of weak scared fishermen, tax collectors and physicians into fearless martyrs and the rapid spread of Christianity if not for the resurrection?
And the eye witnesses sure believed it too:
14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. 15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. Acts 3
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.- John 21: 25
The Koran mentions Jesus miracles, the Babylonian Talmud mentions Jesus miracles.
Jesus was one -of-a-kind. He is still in the healing, comforting, & conquering business. Jesus has helped many, many people overcome the swath of destruction caused by the Watchtower. I'm at 5:04 mins.

Is this the same Jesus that's going to kill anyone who doesn't call on his name?
Simon,
That's absurd. That statement is not found in scripture.

David H. Splane: The “Slave” Is Not 1900 Years Old (Matt. 24:45)
by ToesUp indavid splane video.
morning worship.
david splane attempts to explain why the "slave" is not 1900 years old.. warning...video may cause drowsiness!.

Quote from linked post:
David Splane's new video declaring, among other things, that there was no Faithful Slave for 1900 years, and there may not have even been any genuine anointed ones during those years
This is clearly a heretical teaching, falsified by Jesus himself.
and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world - Mt. 28: 20
The word "always" is Strongs # 2250. It describes this word in part thusly:
the time space between dawn and dark, ... reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period
Jesus was simply saying that he would be with all believers from the dawn of the church age until the darkness of the last days immediately following the rapture.
The Mormons teach the EXACT same thing as the JW's..... that there were no true believers (from the 3rd century ) until their guy (Smith instead of Russell) showed up to get all the false Christians straightened out.

Convention
by Gorbatchov ingorby is as you know a long time fader.. visited the convention this weekend.. and concluded that samuel herds talk about hope was not so bad at all, it was well balanced.
made some good points.. knowing both sides of the medallion, have to admit he was humble with a focus on hope.. the saturday drama impressed me.
of course, there is a lot to say about the organization, this professional produced movie in a "true story" scenario, gave me the insight that hope is important for suffering people.

Sounds like he was saying out of the side of his mouth that false hope is still better than no hope at all.

When a person leaves the Watchtower, he is viewed as an enemy by current members. It is very tempting to repay evil for evil. I believe that Jesus teachings on love, forgiveness, boundaries etc., are all powerful weapons against tyranny. And that is what the Watchtower system is more than anything else - tyrannical thought police.
Jesus taught us to look beyond the crime - "forgive them, they know not what they do."
I believe that Jesus' teachings are powerful mechanisms for not only coping with tragedy like the kind the WT generates, but also in overcoming them and putting them under our feet where they belong and not over our heads as burdens.
