  Simple Question Re 1914

  wt claims that satan was thrown out of heaven in october 1914 precipitating ww!

  and the end times.

  a small problem with that is ww1 started on july 28th 1914 whilst satan was still in heaven picking his nose.. how did we not see this and waste years of precious life?

  Are you saying that something which Jesus said would never be repeated, (Matthew 24:221) was going to have a another fulfillment, a greater one? If so, your org's dogma is telling people that Jesus was wrong.

  It's not reasonable to claim that different scriptures are discussing the same topic simply because the wording is similar.

  Acts 7:11 also speaks of a "great tribulation" but the surrounding verses and context eliminate any connection to Matthew 24:21.

  Contextually, tie in Revelation 7:14 with Revelation 2:22. The words spoken were about 8 minutes apart.

  Connecting statements from the same book of the Bible and from the same discussion, makes far more sense.

  out of the numerous translations i've had/used, i can honestly state that the 2001 translation is head & shoulders above all the others i've ever consulted, imo.

  Whichever translation we favour is down to our own preference/understanding/reasoning of the scriptures.

  Aren't all translations "very biased?" So far, I've found the 2001 translation to be striving to be as truthful a translation as it can be - not perfect! I don't know of any other translations who are eager for readers to offer corrections or suggestions.

  I bought the Deluxe Edition of the NET Bible in a charity shop several years ago. It's No. 2 on my list.

  @ GORBY - I spoke with Paul Gillies. He is a slimy snake in the grass who also represented JW's at the conferences of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, (OSCE) the European political/military wing of the U.N.

  Very open, diverse, and interesting thoughts on a profound and personal question.

  I've never expressed my (bound to be unpopular) thoughts on the subject to anyone before, but here goes:

  Prayer demonstrates hope & faith in God Almighty's promises in the scriptures. Those promises assure us that dead loved ones will be resurrected, and all the evils & suffering people have endured will be wiped out & forgotten - and replaced with an eternal life on earth which will be beyond comparison with what we experience now. (Psalm 37:9,10,29: Matthew 5:5; Rev. 21:3,4) Christ Jesus told Christians to pray for that time to come. (Matt. 6:10) The apostle Paul said the scriptures gave us instruction, endurance, hope & comfort. (Rom. 15:4)

  Having a faith in these promises - along with agreement with Peter's statement that God is not partial - I do not believe that God answers anyone's prayers for personal needs, other than to endure trials of our faith.

  Prayers regarding health, financial, or material needs etc. are not answered for anyone now, otherwise, it's like saying "God favored me and answered my prayers, but you...tough!"

  Are you a politician in real life? You give a lengthy and unconnected response to avoid addressing two clear statements which blatantly contradict each other - one from the Bible, and the other from your hierarchy.

  Please explain why your 'slave' lies about Egypt's foreigners not being participants in the covenant?
