Religion is a belief. Mathematics are facts based on reality. I call false equivalancy.

If mathematics teacher made a mistake, would it mean mathematics itself is wrong!
by venus inmany people point to the irrationality in the depiction of god by the religions and their scriptures, hence jump into the bottomless pit of atheism.
in either camp, god is not a factor because religion is only a means that misrepresents god, hence religionists themselves are atheists (literally, those who live without god).
it is like saying there exists no earth because you found out your friend who taught earth is flat is wrong; or it is like saying mathematics itself is wrong because you found out your mathematics teacher made a mistake.

Convention “Highlights” - bwhahaha!
by Muddy Waters intaking a walk down memory lane at those looooonnnnngg, tedious conventions... .
(boy, they weren’t kidding when they spoke about being long-suffering and having endurance!).
but what were some of your convention highlights, or lowlights, from back in the day?.

Okay, another Dodger Stadium survivor here. I distinctly recall having strep throat and being made to sit until the sessions ended at 9PM. Also the Padre Stadium 1984 Temple of Doom Assembly. It was beyond hot, then thunderstorms, then people literally passing out due to the heat and humidity.
Can't recall any spiritual "nuggets" that meant a damn. I do recall being made to load an 18 wheeler full of cantaloupes so that they could sell the half canataloupe filled with vanilla ice cream. Actually, that was the best thing about the whole sorry event.

Faded for almost 10 years and still getting random calls
by ctrwtf inhi all, just wondering if anyone is in the same boat.
wifey and i dropped off the face of the jw planet almost a decade ago and still get 3 or 4 visits a year mostly when we are not dressed or expecting visitors.
it's really annoying because we are both wondering why they don't get the hint already.. we don't want to move because we really enjoy where we live and both have careers that keep us in the area.. i've asked politely that they stop calling but like the "godfather" they keep "pulling me in.".

I guess you could use our experience as an example of the dubs tenacity, but I seem to remember the elders' book counseling the bros to lay off at a certain point. It's just surreal that in the 21st century we have to put up with this BS.
Any thoughts or advice are welcome....

Hugh Hefner died a few weeks back but no post on it. Interesting.
by Still Totally ADD ini bring this up because like me i sure many of the men who was kids in the wt cult got their first taste of what a nude women looked like.
it was the adolescent male sex education for most of us.
one friend i had who's dad was a elder told me they always had playboys in his house because his dad subscribed to them.

Saying you were sexually repressed because you couldn't masturbate to porn and have casual sex is vomit inducing. Most people look at HH as guilty of objectifying women for profit and think of him as disguising hedonistic behavior with "cool" at the expense of the dignity of women.
The reality is that women living at the Mansion were regularly drugged and raped often times by HH himself if not another of his high profile guests like Bill Cosby. His life and the sycophants that idolize it are a waste of humanity.
This is one aspect of the ex-jw community that is offensive. Just because a religion, even a cult, takes a dim view of casual sex doesn't make the teaching worthless.

Not A Day Goes By Without Me Thinking About Watchtower
by pale.emperor inalthough i consider myself completely "cured" from watchtower brainwashing, guilt tripping and propaganda, i realised today that there's not a day that goes by without me thinking of the cult we left.
i think of my former family and what i'd like to say to them, what i'd try to explain and how i'd say it without them switching the "ignore" button and running away.. today on my instagram account my little step-brother "liked" a picture i posted.
i didn't even know he was still on my friends list.

Just have to look at all those that post here regularly for years to realize that it's hard to shake off what the cult has done to you and your family. I faded 9 years ago.
Having said that, counseling is a wonderful tool that can help you gain perspective and lessen the pain.
Best to you...

JW Stumper Questions - List You Best Here
by pale.emperor inhi guys.
sooner or later we're going to get a jw knocking on our door.
just like when we were jw's doing the knocking, it's good to have a question prepared to get them thinking about their own beliefs.

Explain your belief that modern man appeared out of nowhere 6000 years ago in Mesopotamia.
Please also explain how you can deny the mountain of evidence that points to the contrary.

So I'm pretty sure my fade is complete. Haven't stepped foot inside a KH in 9 years. But the concept of fading still makes me wonder. I know the idea is that one slowly fades away and does nothing that would put them in jeopardy of committing a "sin" worthy of a JC.
But the reality is, that as one fades, the odds of committing a sin worthy of a JC increase only because one begins a "normal" life not influenced by a cult. So for you faders out there I'm wondering what sins you've committed that are worthy of a JC if you were still in.
I'll fess up, I've:
Celebrated Christmas complete with a tree and gifts.
Voted in national and local elections.
I have gotten a tattoo of a Celtic Cross on my bicep. (This was my personal way of DA'ing without actually sending a letter)
Sometimes I drink to excess.
I've seen many, many R rated films.
I use the F word pretty regularly.
I visit and post on apostate websites.
I've enjoyed weed a time or two.
I've donated to the Cathedral of St Cristobal in San Juan, PR and was given a St. Christopher medal that I wear everyday.
So if ever I'm invited to a JC, I've got a lot of ground to cover.
Any of you other fellow postate faders care to confess?
