SFPW posted on my last thread that he/she was not going to post anymore. I guess that standing for the "truth" includes lying.

Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?
by Stand for Pure Worship ini ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.
hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.
while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

Thanks to all for your support. I guess we all need a reality check from time to time.
To Prologos. Not to put too fine a point on it, but to me, those born in including myself do not have much choice in the matter. Go to meetings and get baptized or Mommy and Daddy will have to abandon you and you will rot for eternity while we and your siblings play with lions and eat fruit in paradise forever.
Thanks also for the opportunity to write (as I should have previously) that not all converts are self important lemmings. I also believe that there are and were people like LHG that were subject to the bait and switch. I also agree with her assesment that now, today, it should be difficult for anyone with access to the internet to be duped.
Maybe the most evil thing about the wits is the fact that ( I Believe) there are a significant percentage of active JW's that seriously have difficulty with doctrine but are afraid to do anything about it for fear of losing everyone they love.

Today, and just today I've decided to go over to the dark side. Be forewarned this is an intenesely negative thread. Maybe I had a bad day. Maybe people were rude to me. Maybe I'm just suffering from male menopause. Maybe I'm just sick of trolls on this forum making themselves feel superior by insisting that anyone who decides the JW religion is not for them has an axe to grind or is mentally defective. Not mentioning anyone in particular. (Stands for pure worship)
My observation after 45 years as a born in witness is that those who convert to this religion are largely ill informed, under acheivers who are attracted to the idea that they have "special knowledge." They like to believe that they are the chosen few, while having done absolutely nothing constructive in their lives to deserve any sort of special recognition.
They salivate at the idea that soon a god of love will kill off anyone who dares to believe differently from them. They pat themselves on the back for spending hours and hours in a fruitless quest for anyone who will drink the poison philosophy they espouse. All the while, they choose the homes of the dead families that they will reside in when god vindicates their quest for superiority. They do so in the name of true christianity. How utterly vomit inducing.
The reality is that no reward awaits them. The will molder in whatever vile grave they are laid in having wasted a life in service to a publishing corporation that used fear to dominate and control them. I can think of no better end to a life lived in fear.
As for me. Tomorrow"s another day.

Mac Book Pro with Retina or Dell XPS 15? (both with new Haswell processors)
by Simon ini've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?

Hey Simon, not much of a techie here but my son bought a Macbook Pro last month and he feels like he didn't get alot of bang for his buck. He's looking to sell it and get a higher end Samsung.
BTW Thanks for the site. It's been an inspiration for a long time. Good luck with your purchase.

Sheep and Goats
by ctrwtf ini'm lucky enough to live in a part of the us that many would call "pastoral.
" true to the label, i pass a small farm on the way to talking my daughter to school each day.
the other day i notice the owners had their small flock of sheep out to pasture along witha black goat.. for some reason i had a flashback to all the references the society uses re sheep, other sheep, sheeplike and goatlike etc.

I'm lucky enough to live in a part of the US that many would call "pastoral." True to the label, I pass a small farm on the way to talking my daughter to school each day. The other day I notice the owners had their small flock of sheep out to pasture along witha black goat.
For some reason I had a flashback to all the references the society uses re sheep, other sheep, sheeplike and goatlike etc. It really made me mad to think that anyone who disagreed with the society was immediately labeled a "goat." And conversely a "sheep" was anyone virtuous and honest-hearted.
How simple minded can you be? With very few exceptions humans are not farm animals. To label someone with a derogatory term because they want to use critical thinking skills and common sense to judge for themselves what is true is the height of arrogance. On the other hand to praise someone for "going along" ignores the fact that we are supposedly made in god's image. Aren't we abandoning our divinity if we put someone on a pedastal because they blindly follow directions? What does it say about a god that prefers dullards?
I've been inactive for five years now. Mentally out for ten or more. It still enrages me that I sometimes can't escape these thoughts.

A one sentence reply that could jolt a JW
by HBH inmy mind was wandering last night, and i though of this as a reply to a jw.. "oh, your the people who believe 8 men in brooklyn, ny are directing the world's only true religion.".
the sentence is a fact that they can't deny, but clearly shows delusion.
any other one sentence "stingers"?.

Oh...You're the ones that believe that a loving god is going to slaughter everyone who is not an active, dedicated and baptised JW.
(in my best Dr Evil voice) Riiiiight.

The internet should be in an open place in your house!
by hoser inno internet in the bedroom or office as per suggestion of the watchtower.
this keeps your husband off those online dating sites and porn sites.
the only flaw in this is when you go grocery shopping and he is all alone in the house..

The christian school for married couples
by wannaexit inthe new in thing among the rank and file is to strive to get to the christian school for married couple.
this appears to substitute the school of gilead.
it's a 2 month long event and after graduation , couples are sent somewhere where the need is great in their own country.

This is a rehash of the original pioneer school of the 80's. Only this time you have to make it work spending more time in the field. The problem with the original pioneer school was not just burnout but local congregations where the need was great resented being labeled as such and treated the pioneers badly.

WATCHTOWER IN A PANIC!
by JW GoneBad injws are in need of more kingdom halls in many major u.s. cities.
at this years agm where it is expected that most of the faithful will be able to listen to the meeting (being tied in by video), dont be surprised if the wts 8 gb members take part in a symposium delivering some long winded appeal, petition, plea, proposal, proposition, solicitation or otherwise hit-on the masses for $$$ in order to lighten the burden and overuse that many kingdom halls are experiencing.
an acquaintance from the west coast mentioned to me that in late august thru early september of this year that a number of pow-wows involving close to 5,000 elders from numerous areas (riverside, los angeles, ventura and orange counties) took place to drum up financial support from the 800+ (not sure) congregations in those areas.

Mentioned this to my Bro in Law an elder in Riverside County and he was clueless. His observation was that they weren't filling the halls they had. His is a double Khall with four congos. Each reaching barely over 50% capacity.
