  it's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.

  i've been out of watchtower for some 38 years now and i suppose the lottery is one of their nonoze.

  i have nothing morally wrong against it or anyone who enjoys doing it.

  What is your relationship with ALCOHOL?

  here in the uk new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine.".

  another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free.".

  already people are making cries of "nanny state!

  Cocktail or two before dinner or while cooking. Split a bottle of wine most days with the wifey. Wine makes everything taste better. Maybe a good whiskey to settle in for the night.

  Rarely if ever drunk...hate the feeling of being out of control. But I do love the taste............

  What would you like to see the Watchtower Society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a Jehovah's Witness?

  jehovah's witnesses do not provide a dignified resignation process for members who wish to resign/quit being a jehovah's witnesses.you are not given any good choices.

  you can either: disassociate yourself,fade,become inactive or move to another city/state/country where you won't be bothered or found out.. if you quit your job/employment, stop attending a book club or bowling league,or quit a lawn service company, newspaper delivery service,you wouldn't see your employer or friends sending out a written notice to anyone to stop all association with you or have little contact.you would sue them for slander.you have a right to quit any association or contract (when it expires or doesn't meet the terms any longer) whenever you wish.. what would you like to see the watchtower society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a jehovah's witness?.

  Unfortunately, even if any policies were changed, nothing would change.

  The dubs are indoctrinated with an "us against them" mentality. Anyone that leaves for any reason will always be looked upon as the enemy.

  I've never been df'd or da'd. With the exception of no meetings or field service, my life has changed in no other way, but my relatives look at me as mentally defective. Sorry bro, just the facts.

  let me start with a disclaimer: i am in no way minimizing the horrific crimes done to children by pedophiles.

  i'm not downplaying the number of lives lost due to the blood issue, or hearts broken because of shunning.

  i do not want to discount the feelings of those who have come to the end of their lives with expectations of paradise postponed.. but to me the biggest atrocity committed by this awful cult is raising children from a small age to believe that soon god will kill billions of people.

  @Flipper. If your dad was a city overseer was he from The CityPaTown? Pardon the blatant South Park ripoff.

  My dad was also more concerned about how we made him look than how we felt. I remember that title (city overseer) and it struck me then as now as another layer of status among those didn't really deserve any merit. To this day, I know that if my dad were alive and in full cult mode I would be disowned for my feelings about the wits.

  @Clarity. Exactly. I cringe when I think about an essay I wrote in my senior year of HS. The civics teacher wanted everyone to write about their ideal job. Well I vividly recall writing that I wanted to be a JANITOR.

  How f'd up is that?

  @Crazyguy. I'm 52.

  Thankfully my whole immediate family is out. Both my kids saw the lies at an early age and (hopefully) aren't as affected by the cult because we left while they were still pretty young.

And that they themselves may find themselves a victim of god's rage if they don't act and think perfectly. That their families will forget about them and live happily forever in paradise. From someone who was born in....those feelings of guilt and low self worth still haunt me from time to time.

  The tagline from the film "The Gift" is; Just because you're done with the past doesn't mean the past is done with you.

  Have I mentioned that I hate this awful cult?
