So the basic question is what now? I'm a liberal and recognize that many of the assumptions of liberalism are on the ropes.
For example, we voted for free trade based on what the economists told us was best only to find that free trade did indeed have a negative impact. And our governments mostly ignored the working class people whose livelihoods were lost. This is one of the factors that gives rise to an electorate that is willing to vote for an angry, unhinged demagogue that spews populist rhetoric.
The challenge for Hillary going forward, is how to address the very real and raw emotions of nearly half the electorate who feel they've been sidelined by the liberal elite.
