i don't think she has posted this yet.
mulan called me yesterday afternoon to tell me her dad had suffered a stroke.
i did talk to my dad last night and he seemed to think that grandpa was going to be ok. i had a birthday party with nine little girls all afternoon and was completely out of touch as a result.. i think she could use a hug, don't you?.

as larc's thread has mutated into the tired old nurture vs nature debate i thought i'd give a response to his question, which was how do you reconcile the bibles attittude to homosexuality and the living breathing reality of human beings.
i was at a recent screening of trembling before g-d, a documentary on homosexuals in the orthodox community who want to be practising homosexuals and still be accepted as part of the orthodox faith.
(my opinion is that they're wanting to have their cake and eat it but i was interested in the reasoning).
Starscream - your facts are rubbish, completely unscientifically based and totally moronic. If anyone here were to actually believe your arguments, well they must be reading from the same 1950's propoganda horse manure that you've obviously got your nose stuck in. Actually, nature is a wonderful indicator - it shows that homosexuality is actually a very natural thing for many species. Humans are no different.
To me, the only "freaks" of nature are the ones that have something jammed so far up their own arseholes (so perhaps all your threads are just wishful thinking?) that they can't see what the earth itself, and all the things on it, tell us. I find it strange that you've spent so much valuable time & energy posting so much information on why this natural occurance is wrong - perhaps someone with more than "psych-101" could figure it out for us!
Perhaps if you have actual credible scientific basis for your "facts" - you could be taken seriously - but to me and probably most people here - you are nothing but a bigot - plain & simple.
since simon has proven everyone thinks poorly of the united states of america, it might be good to state the polls that we have seen lately, in the states.
actually, the headlines of newspapers and/or magazines are acceptable too.
here's one headline:" england sucks up to bush again!
You have a King to be that would've rather slept with Camilla Parker Bowles than Princess Diana - Nuff Said!
i got to hear some real bad news
i was speaking to my 'best friends' sister only minutes ago.
my 'best friend' i used to do everything with.
((((Hamas))) - well, you've come to the right place - pretty much all of us have "been there - done that" - still doesn't make it any easier to deal with though. At least the next time you develop a close friendship, rest assured it will no longer be based on "conditions" and you will be loved only for who you are, and not what you "believe".
Love,
Rhonda
in light of the recent threads on homosexuality, if you were gay would you let anyone on this site know?
would you feel supported as a gay exjw or would you feel ridiculed?
would you feel safe here?
lol @ JoelBear!
Seriously though, if I were homosexual, I would do exactly what I do now - if I talk about my life, my partner etc. etc.
I grew up & was raised a JW, but I would think that would make ex-jw's MORE tolerant of different cultures, lifestyles, etc. We all came out of the Borg & realized it wasn't "the truth" - so that should make most more open to the fact that some people have different lifestyles - IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL IT THAT!!! That's what always gets me about people's "opinions" of homosexuality - they reduce a person down to their sexual behavior. Its totally moronic & those people really need to pull whatever's stuck up their own butts (no puns intended - nor do I mean to offend). Homosexuals, like hetrosexuals live the same type of lives that EVERYONE lives. They work, they love, they raise children, they learn, they grow, they die. They experience happiness, sadness, loss, success, failure - everything everyone else on this planet does! They are not foreign creatures. Its so disgusting to me to watch people reduce a human down to what they do probably on the same averages as everyone else on this planet! The only thing that holds them back from being able to be open, or even have to consider their situation is different, or something to be hidden is stereotypical bigotry - so don't try to mask it for something that its not (and yes - I'm referring to the locked thread). Yes, some bigotry is deep rooted - but so what?! Fake it till you make it - and get over it! The world would really be a much better place if people did.
I don't think Homosexuality should even have to be a subject for conversation to tell you the truth.....it really should be a non-issue - as much as heterosexuality.

Never heard of it before - sounds good. In the last 3 months I've adopted a taste for Shiraz as well, and I've tried a few Australian brands - is Yellow Tail Australian or somewhere else?

i have always tried to remember that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Big Tex - thank you so much for posting that....perhaps with her permission, you will have Misty keep us apprised of her father's condition?
All my prayers still are with both - please thank her so much for letting us know.
nothing to do with jws but i thought it interesting anyway: .
the feminization of boysafter viewing 20/20's piece entitled, "a gender straitjacket", i have come to the conclusion that the mass leftist media needs a "sensitivity muzzle" when it comes to the feminization of the male gender.
a 15 minutes segment, filled with a quack named william pollack, telling me that 2 year old boys who paint their nails and play with barbie dolls is a normal thing, was more than my paunch could handle.
I in no way meant that all men are pussies (and Carrie - you are one to which I was referring!). Sadly, in many other cases, I have seen boys that are made to be devoid of some of the more "masculine" things that make them men. To say that men & women are no different is absurd. The more research done on the subject - the more different they find we really are.
Its just that I believe that our society tends to believe that human "socialization", not natural inheritance is the prime motive of the human animal. In doing so, our society has tried to change boys - nurturing out of them the "demeaning masculine culture & elevating female culture. What has that gotten us? From some of the studies I've read - more randomly aggressive men & antisocially dangerous men. 91% of all crimes of aggression are committed to this day by men. Certain things are "hard wired" into boys, and I don't think we can just negate that fact. Aggression, physical risk taking, competition, quick problem sovling - all these things are to some extent hard-wired into a boy. Its culture that teaches the boy violence.
Dr. Michael Gudiron (PHD & Author) stated it better than I ever could (paraphrasing an excellent book called The Wonder of Boys)
"Feminism is not by definition misadrist, or an enemy of male culture. Boys can be boys & feminists too, if the feminism is not anti-male and can accept the boys are who they are, and chooses to love them rather than change their "hard wiring".
I think our society has alot to learn about human development - male culture has to learn how to deal with changing the parts of the male culture that are out of balance to the extreme in the areas of competition, nonempathy, sexual harassment & emotional isolation. Femine culture has to learn to change the parts of their culture that are out of balance toward extremes of victim based thinking, villainization of males, political myopia and emotional tyranny." End paraphrasing.
Of course these comments are "generalizations" - not everyone is wired the same way. Nor do I think men that are "sensitive" are "pussies" - the above states it better than I ever could. I apologize if anyone thought I was calling them a pussy. My husband is the most "manly man" I've ever known - and yet he is also the most sensitive. I think we as a society need to really understand the biological make-up of our children, and learn to channel those inheirant differences appropriately.

Gumby - perhaps you don't know what medications can do to those who are terminally ill...but I know Ron from a couple of different boards, and I believe every word he says. I still get dates & ages mixed up sometimes - or sometimes I have a "TYPO" and don't think to edit.
(((Ron))) - thank you for the friendship you have shown, thank you for the caring & warmth you have shown everyone. You have been an inspiration, and as you have faced this disease, someone who I have greatly admired in your strength and spirit. I wish there was a way you could let us know what's on the other side - but I know whatever it is - there's a very special place for someone as beautiful as you. To recite "Starry Night" - "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you".
I wish we could be there with you as you make your journey - but rest assured, my thoughts, prayers & hopefully some kinetic spirit will be there for you to help you face the unknown (which I'm sure is a beautiful, warm and loving place).
