anyways, the discussion was regarding whether or not the generation of today (30 somethings & younger) have it better or worse then generations past.
economically, socially, etc., are we better off now then other generations?

for those of you near to me, you've probably noticed, i have changed my looks.. yup, i decided, well.....it has been an on-going project: i'm growing a beard.. it's not your typical beard, i am trying to sculp it to some degree.. honestly: i hate shaving!
at the same time, i am trying to do something interesting.

Yes, I had a severe bedwetting problem until almost the age of 12 - its was traumatic. Beatings, alarms, and numerous doctor appointments did nothing to alleviate the situation. The doctors said I was probably just a very deep sleeper, and would outgrow it - which I did. But I had a hard time socially with my little problem, and my mother (JW) made me feel so awful about it that I actually developed insomnia - not wanting to go to sleep to wet my bed and then be beaten in the morning because of it.Snap.

with that, after being a witness for 15 years it was just time to move on to something else.. .
yes i believe the witnesses do not have the ultimate truth as they believe they do, which helped in my decision to move on.
I understand exactly what you mean Michael, although it took being out of the org. for almost 10 years before I was ready to move on. There was also (for me) a great sense of excitement realizing the JW's didn't have all the answers, as this meant there was so much more to know and explore. Hearing the same things day after day/week after week/year after year - gets old.

over the past couple of years, i've had nothing but disappointments with friends.
(((Nos))) I've found myself over time that "friendship" is a relatively loose term - and that by the end of it all, one can have 100's of acquaintences, but only a handful of true friends.
It sounds like the people you've hung with are either to self-absorbed to notice they've hurt your feelings, or are just jack-off's who aren't worth your time. Only you can really know the difference.
As far as women being "better" friends *snort* don't buy it for a moment. Women tend to be "fickle" and can "loose" friendships based on idle gossip, rumor & innuendo. Men, once they've become true friends are usually so through life - regardless where geographics take them. At least that's been what I've noticed.
One day you will evaluate your life, and realize you have real friends - it will happen for you. It usually takes about a lifetime though - and treasure the ones you find!
