Are Posters Deleted Forever?
by Simon inthis is a moderated forum and unfortunately it's occassionally necessary to deactivate accounts of posters who purposefully and/or repeatedly violate the simple & sensible posting guidelines, there to ensure that the forum is a welcoming and friendly place to visit.
most deletions are not permanent however.
we appreciate that some are the results of misunderstandings or personal circumstances coloring people's behavior.

Sheila Said:
Tell me, do you think other discussion boards bring about such deep feelings as this one does? Scooby: Do you think Mothers, wives and children of Marines being deployed aren't sharing deep feelings? Personally I think you just like to bitch and moan and you don't have a friggin idea what your bitching about
Scooby's Reply:
Oh and Sheila.....get off my back darling. I'm sure mothers children cousins nieces and nephews must care for their daddy. But we are talking JWD here not a Marine forum. Can you remind me of the link again between the 2 as its relevant to this post and moderation? Or is it just another bluff and switch tactic? BTTT
Do you ever wonder why people get frustrated here with this line of reasoning? They post there frustrations, get restricted or worse deleted......and then are castagated anyway.
Crazy. Please look beyond the rhetoric for once.
How is it that Scooby's comments were insultive & unreasonable, and Sheila's were not?
I see neither as insultive (imho). Perhaps "testy" and confrontational, but not insultive or unreasonable.

Women don't lie and men don't listen
by Maverick instole the line from doc love.
but it is true.
women will tell you all kinds of things about how they think and what they feel but the average man is too hung up in his own wants and ego to listen.. i will pick just one thing to use as an example.. when the woman you are with talks down to you or throws out a zinger at your expense she is telling you she has contempt for you and no respect!

I think the exact reverse is also true Maverick - men don't tend to lie, and women don't listen. And I don't feel as a society that we do! I just posted a topic on another forum about this very matter. Women have become so self-absorbed in their quest for "equal rights", that we've been trained now to negate mens feelings and their needs.
Give me 1 television show where the Alpha female isn't constantly belittling the stupid Alpha male - where true respect is shown to each other, and appreciation for the qualities both bring to the relationship? Aren't any that I know of. That went away with the Cosby show. Now, our daughters are taught to be independent & strong, and not allow ANY man to "CONTROL" her (gasp). And, if the man has any feelings, thoughts or opinions of his own - that's exactly what he's doing - controlling

I've also said that with the 6 degrees of separation, anything you say to anybody will eventually get around to everyone!
The worst part is that by the time it comes out the other end, you wouldn't recognize it for truth if it jumped up & bit you in the butt!.
For all the wonderful well-intentioned persons there are on these boards, there will always be a few that have underlying problems, and 9x out of 10 - it isn't the "troublemakers" most would assume they are. Amazingly enough, it's usually someone you would consider a "friend". This is why I also learned the hard way - treat any potential friendships you would here as almost marriage mates. Get to know them in r/l, eat with them, talk on the phone etc., and take some time doing even that before you can truly trust them with your most personal information. The boards are definitely a great place to make new friends - but it also can be trouble just waiting to happen. Caution with those things we hold most sacred is an absolute must.

Really Valis? I didn't know that - I thought once a person was deactivated - they couldn't see anything - my bad.
But, in the interest of fairness, if I must be punished, I will abide by the court's decision & take it like a woman

I am copying these replies for the "other" place - if this is a problem, let me know (and as soon as hubby's not paying attention - we can begin my public spanking)

Also, instead of being temporarily deleted, can a poster choose instead to have a public spanking? (preferably by Valis)?

Would it be possible to just reactivate accounts, and allow posters who wish to come back to just come back, without "asking for permission"? Only because this to some may seem like they have to "crawl" back......and some feel uncomfortable doing this, because they felt they had justifiable reasons for not having been deactivated in the first place.
Not trying to "fan flames" here, just making a suggestion.
