My response to that is quite simple, why would they need any "political organization" - they have God don't they?

Budddha Bless Afghanistan
by unclebruce inthere is a lot of ignorant afghan bashing going on here at the moment (as opposed to informed afghan bashing) and when we read the papers and see the television pictures it's little wonder why.
the world news media is on a feeding frenzy whipping up so called 'anti-terrorist'* retoric to silly levels.
(*one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter .. nelson mandela?

YERU - you are absolutely right - I took my information off several news sources that used this phrase, and perhaps like many others I tend to be naive regarding issues such as war. This was not my intent - certainly not to anger people like you who defend our country. My point was that I hope our government is using their diplomatic might as much as their military might. If my post offended you - I apologize. I try to take my information from all sources, including those abroad and I have heard/read this expression used in many different sources.
But thanks, I haven't had the chance to be told how dumb i am yet on this board - much appreciated.

I appreciated your comments on Afghanis - I've been doing alot of reading of foreign on line news organizations, and their perspective is something that I believe all Americans should try to understand, even if it doesn't seem "true". Perhaps what most Americans cannot understand is why terrorists become so angry, and we are probably just as pre-disposed to "race profiling" as any other group/culture. I think this was a wake-up call to our entire American population, young & old, to take a look at the world around us & how America fits in. I believe sometimes the biggest show of strength is that of restraint training. America is the strongest country at this point (militarily wise) in the world - but perhaps we should be showing them why. And why is because we're suppposed to be the "great melting pot" of human society.
I personnaly do not agree w/the carpet bombing currently going on there. I don't believe we are truly using "diplomatic strategy" (you can't drop bombs w/aid attached to it). I truly hope that the American people take a look at our foreign policy and then shape our government accordingly. -

My past weekend
by Leander insaturday afternoon i made the decision to step down as a minsterial servant.
i had given it a lot of thought and i came to the conclusion that i would be doing the right thing.
i told my wife about the decision i had planned on making and that basically killed her mood for the rest of the day.

Leander - based on your personal circumstances this must be an extremely difficult situation for you! I pray that you and your family are able to work through this together as a unit, and perhaps grow w/one another in the process.
Many persons in the Bible had "doubts" (i.e. where'd the expression doubting Tom come from?). To sum it up in a "human" nutshell, ones relationship w/God is one's relationship w/God. I hope that you find answers to your questions, because the rest of mankind would surely like to know the same thing [:}]. This has been an issue that has plagued mankind since the inception of mankind. If the JW's do have the honest answer & are the truth, one can only surmise that God still knows what is truly in the hearts of all people, and nothing you can do or say will change that period.
Keep posting tho Leander - you are obviously an extremely thoughtful and intelligent human being & I enjoy reading your posts.

A few things I don't understand about the bible
by Leander inthere have always been things about the bible that never really made much sense to me.
not to say that i disagree with whats in the bible but i have wondered about the fairness of certain things.. 1. for example i've always even as a child thought that it was odd that so many people would die during armageddon.
now as an adult and i understand people better than i did years ago i really do feel puzzled about the fact that according to the scriptures the majority of mankind will perish.

Lefty - Do you seriously believe that the WTBTS can constantly change the doctrines they teach and call it "new light"? No where in the entire bible did I ever see Jehovah, Jesus, Moses, Hebrew "messengers", or the apostles ever change doctrine. Yes, they were increasinly given "new information", but they never changed the doctrines of what they were already preaching!!!!! How does the WTBTS justify consistently changing doctrine w/"new light"? I can see them adding new doctrine, but never changing old. Humans are imperfect, but God is not. So, why would he allow his "only" true organization espouse false doctrine? I say he would not!

Lefty - you say that God may "reconsider" those that accepted the mark of the "wild beast" - but it may be 100, 200, 300 or 400 years later. Where/when did this "new light" come into play? I've certainly never heard this before.

Pros and Cons about Jehovah's Witnesses
by Leander inthe purpose of this post is to try take a close but un-biased look at whether or not jehovahs witnesses are the right religion.
in my few months of doing research about jw's outside of their own publications i've came across a wide variety of viewpoints.
some people are skeptical or unsure if the wts is really the right religion, some are certain that jw's are wrong but have no ill-feelings toward them, some individuals downright hate the organization and still others are certain that the wts is the real deal.

I've only been posting & visiting these boards for approximately 2 weeks now. I have been an ex-JW for 16 years. I'm wondering how many of "like" me's there are out there? People who are still just too afraid to even look at "apostate" sites for fear of lightening strikes, people so loaded down in their own self-worthlessness & low self-esteem that they don't even "think" to look for a way out of their depressed/confused state. Or, people who simply walked away and never looked back. I bet there's alot more than the 3500 who post here.
