they could become serial killers, and although i would be in agreement that they must pay the consequences for their actions, i wouldn't stop loving them.
if they came to believe differently than i, or if they chose a course of action that i didn't approve, my love for them would continue anyways.
Exactly Matty - I could never, even as a JW understand this. Here we are, made in his "image" and 6000+? years beyond perfection, and yet we seem to care more for our children.....
And that scripture, although it may give us the "blinders" we need to follow faithfully, when you get to the fundamentals - its still hard.

As a parent, I know the level of affection & unconditional love that I have for my children. As a parent, I would never put my children to death for not unconditionally following me or for worshipping me.
Everyone says that God loves us as his own children, yet the bible is filled with his actions against non-believing humans? Is there any rationale to saying that he actually truly loves any of us as his children?

most of the jws i met were sincere people.
not perfect, i have my horror stories too, but most were decent people.
i am not discounting the horrible things i hear on this forum.
Well, I can tell you of a family that made me feel like I was a part of theirs - my home life sucked and the only time I felt happy in a home environment was when I was able to spend the night. Their father was an elder, and except my own I have known few more beautiful gentle human beings. Thanks Found!
I also knew a wonderful elder who seemed to truly care for EVERYONE in the congregation. Approx. 6 months after I had stopped attending meetings, he came into a restaurant where I was working. He followed me into the back kitchen area and with tears in his eyes told me that he loved me and still thought of me. I had to leave work after that, he was just so kind & good.
Too bad more of them weren't like that. But there were some - perhaps alot I didn't know. But there definitely were a few that come to mind.

I for one would like to see peace as well - as you are both good people and it seems things just got out of hand (funny thing about DB's- once the snowball starts rolling - it seems impossible to stop it before it becomes an avalance).
You both are great people, and both have had a positive impact on my life although neither of you will ever knew!!

Dr. Temple Grandin.She has her degree and is a very successful woman. I saw how she made a machine for squeezing Autistic children and wondered if it would work on ADD. On my own I started to squeeze him when he would have his fit and whisper in his ear how I loved him...Jehovah loved him.....Jesus loved him..would list family members names who loved him....and I would explane to him what we were trying to do etc etc and this would calm him.
We actually went to a conference last spring where Dr. Grandin had a 2-hour lecture - quite fascinating!!
Also, have you looked into "sensory integration" for your son? Alot of our guys are intolerant to certain physical & visual stimulations and it sounds if he benefits from the "squeezing" technique, he might benefit from some sensory integration too (which can be provided by your local school district). I'll post the title of the book I've got on that when I get home.
Our little guys are a challenge arent they?!!! But such a reward!
