side note - I heard the broadcasters for the Av/Ducks game last night, and my heart actually cringed when I heard Federov's score

Are Posters Deleted Forever?
by Simon inthis is a moderated forum and unfortunately it's occassionally necessary to deactivate accounts of posters who purposefully and/or repeatedly violate the simple & sensible posting guidelines, there to ensure that the forum is a welcoming and friendly place to visit.
most deletions are not permanent however.
we appreciate that some are the results of misunderstandings or personal circumstances coloring people's behavior.

Sorry, I mean this in all good fun - no disrespect intended.
How does that show work anyways? At the end, who decides who the victor is?

P.S. Someone once gave me a piece of advice that worked for me - maybe it will work for you as well.
Whenever you're feeling this low, get out there and do something for someone else. Volunteer somewhere, pay for the meal behind you in the drive-thru line, give a homeless person a meal or a couple of bucks.
Showing kindness to others is probably one of the best pick-me-uppers there is.

I USED to have days like that all the time puternut,,,,,,and if I could make it, anyone can.
This is a temporary phase of your life, just like the wonderful phases you've had in the past (and will have again). You can't always change the way you feel, but if you just go with this, and get through, there is much more happiness on the other side.
Hate to bring up bible examples - but remember the life of Job.
And keep posting here - it seems to help on the worst days.

The Right to Discriminate
by RubyTuesday inevery one discriminates, and everyone is discriminated against, at some time.
discrimination is using your judgment to make decisions about whom you will associate or reward with use of your time and property.
all people discriminate in their personal associations constantly -- you discriminate in whom you choose as your friends, lovers and business associates.

Little Witch - no one needs "brownie points" to post somewhere else.
And as far as "common sense" preventing prejudiced behavior, I'll side with Albert Einstein: "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen."
As someone who was raised a JW, with extreme prejudices, I can use myself as an example to show that one can use common sense to overcome prejudice.

hat's more, people have the right to teach their children to discriminate. (?) And those children have the right to grow up and discriminate, infuriate, and then be shot by someone who got pissed because they were discriminated against. And the shooter just had no right, though every excuse, to kill. Hopefully, the fact that the shooter acted outside of his rights will comfort the well discriminating parent; afterall, he told his kid that those people were like that. The point is, haters are shit. They kill their own children and blame it on the world
Discrimination is not inheirently evil. If I teach my child that they should "discriminate" and not hang out with drug dealers on the corner, am I teaching them something "wrong"? Or, if I tell my child not to hang out with a known child pediphile, to discriminate between well intentioned/ not well intentioned individuals to protect himself, is that wrong? I don't think so.
I'm assuming that this discussion arose from the discussion of homosexuals right to marriage (am I right)? If this is the case, Ruby's article could actually be used as as argument FOR homosexual marriage. If it wasn't, I still will use it as my example.
I have the right to think homosexual marriage is right, or I have the right to view it as wrong/immoral. Personally, I think that everyone has the right to marry whatever sound minded adult they wish too.
But, that doesn't mean I have the right to chose for those that wish to participate in a homosexual marriage. That is between themselves, their morals and their Gods (if they have one). The government does not have the right to do anything but what they were supposed to do - defend individual's personal rights & beliefs against other's personal discriminations.
I find it amazing that all "minorities" since the inception of this countrie have been discriminated against because of "white men" sense of morals and personal discriminations - flying straight into the face of the Constitution they created. Its about time one more minority was given the same respect & rights as citizens as the rest of us.

People have the right to discriminate against whoever they want (personally) - but they don't have the right to have the U.S. Government do it for them, nor do they have the right to use their own discrimination to hurt another person.
Pretty simple really.
