So then, what do the following examples tell us about God?

- A hoard of locusts which strips the foliage bare and destroys all of someone's crops?

- Animals who engage in necrophilia, murder, cannibalism and a myriad of other horrific acts.

- Creatures like the desert wasp that survive only by laying their eggs inside another creature so that their young are hatched inside the living body of this creature and eat it alive from the inside out?

- Male sea otters are known to hold otter pups hostage until they are paid a ransom of food by the mother. They are also known to commonly rape baby seals to death, holding their heads underwater. This activity also happens to kill around one tenth of the female otters that they mate with. Even after the seal pup is dead it is not uncommon for otters to continue raping its decaying corpse for up to a week later.

- Dolphins are some of the most intelligent creatures in the animal kingdom. Their cute looks betray their rapey, murderous nature. Bottle nose dolphins are known to assault porpoises for no reason leaving them for dead. Porpoises do not pose any threat to dolphins and they do not compete for food or territory so this activity is undertaken for nefarious purposes.

Dolphins frequently kill baby dolphins in order to provoke the mother back into oestrus, a practice which is more common in the animal kingdom than you might think. Male dolphins gang up and then isolate a female, taking turns raping her. If there are no females around, another male becomes the victim.

- Reports from Antarctic expeditions in the early 20th century on the sexual behaviours of penguins were deemed too extreme for publication. When the information was finally released it showed that penguins frequently engage in necrophilia, sexual coercion, sexual and physical abuse of chicks as well as homosexual and auto-erotic behaviour.

- Margays are South American ocelots. They mimic the sound of baby monkeys in distress, in order to lure adult monkeys into their clutches.

- Not to forget our closest cousins, the chimpanzees. Infanticide is commonplace amongst their number. Male chimps who want to drive a female into oestrus will kill her baby and then dismember and eat it in front of her. Female chimps have been observed doing the exact same thing to other females, although their motives are unclear.

- A tsunami that rips through a town killing thousands of people?

- Not to mention earthquakes or volcanic eruptions with a resultant death toll?

- When your body allows a cancer to grow which destroys all of your internal organs?

- Our biology can host some 30,000 known diseases, and that’s just the known ones?

- A child born with a mental or physical disorder?

If you enter into any relationships as a trans person you will be accused of sexual immorality and homosexuality.

The JW view of homosexuality:

LEVITICUS 18:22, 29:

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

For whoever commits any of these abominations shall be cut off from their people."

LEVITICUS 20:13:

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them."

REVELATION 22:15:

15 Outside are fthe dogs gandsorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10:

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

GALATIANS 5:19-21:

19 Now the works of the flesh

are evident: sexual immorality, impurity,sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery,enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger,rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies,

and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not

inherit the kingdom of God.

EPHESIANS 5:5:

5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral orimpure, or who is covetous (that is,an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Also,

DEUTERONOMY 22:5:

A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.

DEUTERONOMY 23:1

No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord.

Is it better to have a false hope than have no hope?

just got the news.

a very close classmate of mine met an accident and died last nite.... just 4 months after i da'd from the borg.. if i am still in, i wouldn't be so sad.

he has the hope of resurrection.. but now that i am out, i realise that resurrection in paradise is all bullshit.. so what's next?

It seems religion provides the best comfort for some when dealing with death, especially untimely death. The thought of seeing a loved one again is what has enticed some into becoming JWs. I know of two such cases. In one of the cases it was obvious that it was this "hope" that prevented the person from going insane - she was very "spaced out", lost touch with reality after the unexpected death of all of her children in a crash.

On the other hand, there are persons like my late father who saw death as something that happens when "your number has been called" and that's the end of you.

My father learnt very early in life that death was a part of this life and that it is something to be expected and accepted (he was nevertheless adversely affected by the loss of his mother who died during childbirth).

It has been observed that persons who experience the loss of a loved one early in life are less likely to be religious (for obvious reasons), this was true of my father. My father saw life as something to be lived until the day "your number is called" and that's the end of you.

It seems some people can confront mortality more easily than others?

i saw this on facebook: "i would like to thank the lord i am ok. had a serious fall yesterday from my garage landing to the cement floor and landed on my back.

i suffered a closed head wound, severe cervical sprain, 2 broken ribs and multiple contusions on hand and arm and shoulder.

could have been a lot worse.".

God may exist but is he involved in people's lives and the day to day affairs of humans?

We have all been indoctrinated from early childhood (both JWs & non-JWs) that God is involved in people's lives and day to day affairs of humans and that if it's not God then it's the demons.

However, some of us as we grow older and have observed and experienced life have come to the realization that we were lied to - God (if he exists) is NOT involved in people's lives and day to day affairs of humans.

Once you discover that you were lied to, should you speak out there are those who will accuse you of being mad at, angry with God and bitter.

It frightens people like the person in the OP to acknowledge that God (if he exists) is not involved in people's lives, we are alone. The evidence speaks for itself.

The Holy Spirit tried messing with me too.

The process seems to stall in a loop saying "submitting post", but doesn't progress.

This happened to me as well. But I thought the problem was with the browser so I closed the browser but when I returned to the site I noted that my topic was posted.

Paradise? Was it?

paradisewas it really paradise to be in paradise?adam and eve never were held by a mother, never cuddled and sung to with a lullaby nor nursed or coddled with tenderness or any human familial embrace.

the first humans (adam and eve) never learned to toddle surrounded by brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents cheering them on.

the entire experience of childhood was excised surgically like a trauma patient awakening from an accident with amnesia.adam and eve were never in a neighborhood with other kids forming friendship bonds for life and exchanging dreams and hopes for a future they were building in their community.

TERRY WAS RAPED WHILE IN PRISON! HE ENDED UP IN PRISON BECAUSE OF HIS BELIEF IN GOD.

I prayed constantly...........I read my Bible and memorized verses and went over the "meaning" constantly.
I was a sponge and all things God were soaking into me for survival and to stave off panic and terror.
Once I arrived in Federal prison and joined about 40 other Brothers, we had 5 meetings each week and special study sessions on the side.
I had become a TRUE BELIEVER.
I was actually a fanatic.
The letters I wrote read like a wide-eyed cult member in every way.
There's no doubt in my mind--I was talking to God (inside my head) day and night and my sense of His presence was palpable.
Then I was sexually attacked and I went into a kind of recoil and shock.
Even though Jehovah had obviously deserted me at the moment I cried out to Him for help--I made excuses.

What's the point of prayer then?

Jews and early Christians recited the Psalms as prayers three times a day and a fouth before retiring at night. They used an assigned cycle to cover all 150 over a quick period of time and restart again, and had a selected library for needs like mourning, personal requests, sickness, intercessions, thanksgiving, etc. Rarely was a prayer spontaneous.

So God will only listen to your prayer if it is not spontaneous?

Paul, at Romans, was saying that these words were the Spirit of God saying the words that God wanted us to say yet which were too great for us mortals to come up with. So we could learn from reciting them and didn't need to worry that God didn't listen when we used certain ones to ask for help or requests.

So the Spirit of God is interceding on our behalf, saying the words on our behalf that God wants us to say including asking for help or requests.

YET,
