in your time as jws did you ever meet any of the annointed?
did they have good christian personalities and what did they think of the wts and its governing body ?
i met one and he was very unhappy with the way the gb treated him and generally the way they run this society, he told me he wrote them two letters containing a long list of complaints with full scriptural support but he was ignored, first letter got a reply amounting to "no need to write to us" the second one no reply at all.
Yes. I knew this lady very well. She entered the jw world around 1920.
She was very emotional and just loved Old Joe Rutherford. She never missed a meeting and went out in the service regularly. She was wracked with feelings of guilt and self shame. Other than that she was a very nice kind loving person.
She longed for armageddon, to ease her pain and let her live in a perfect world, forgiven for her past.
She passed away in 1974, just missed the projected date of destruction 1975. Even with all of her tenacious belief in the wbts and its ranting and raving leaders, I miss her very much.
If she knew me today, she would be devastated. I wonder if she would speak to me?
She was my mother. Sobing.

because my now ex wife was molested by her dad back in the 60's (while he was an elder), my dad and i were talking when he got back about how the issue of molestation was heavily discussed.
he also tol dme that the society's stand on it had always been that of that it must be reported to the athorities.
that there had been a problem for too long of local elders being the ones to sweep it under the carpet, to protect a friend.
Sentence #4 ought to say.
I/we suggest you report this to the authorities, because we the elders are going to report it.

i've been lurking here for a while, so i figured it's time for me to introduce myself.
i was raised in "the truth".
both of my parents were witnesses, and so were their parents.
Welcome Skyman.
From one Idahoan to another.
This makes about 6 Idahoans I know of who post here.
Maybe more.

i know so many people, not just witnesses that are on zoloft or similar drugs.
i know of some that, once they left the "truth", stopped taking these meds and have not had to go back on them.
i know of some that, if they did not have them, would not be able to properly function......what about you?
Psychiatrists being trained as an MD are good for mental or emotional problems that can be dealt with by the use of pharmaceutic medicines.
Often our problems are due to situations or pressure in childhood or as adults that are best dealt with by a psychologist that works on our cognative memories and disturbances.
A good one can lead us to solve the problems for ourselves. The trick is to find a good one.
For me it was to start with medicine to bring myself out of the depression and then consult a psychologist to find and deal with the confusion and griefs.
Don't let anyone ridicule or look down on you, over seeking help for these problems and remember it takes a trained professional to really help.
Outoftheorg "friends and relatives make poor counselors"
i have been on this board for around four years.
at first i took what went on here quite seriously, well for about three weeks, but it then became quite obvious to me that the depth of role-playing that went on on these boards was so deep-rooted that it would be a foolish waste of time to do anything more than to read some of the more informative threads and delegate the rest to entertainment.
i hope narkissos forgives me for quoting something that he wrote yesterday, but his thought clearly encapuslates the reason why it is foolish to presume that you know, or will ever know the person who is posting by what they write, and why judgments on a persons character are more than often fatally flawed.
THE ONLY ONE HERE ON THIS SITE THAT I CAN TRULY RELATE TO, IS THE MONKEY WITH HIS CORK.
IT REMINDS ME OF THE LAST DAYS OF MY MARRIAGE AND THE RESULTING DIVORCE AND HOW MUCH GLEE AND HAPPINESS THIS DELIVERED FOR MY EX AND THE ELDERS.
AS I STOOD THERE STUNNED, WITH MY CORK.
I KNOW NO ONE ON THIS FORUM OTHER THAN WHAT THEY TYPE AND I CANNOT VERIFY ANY OF IT.
THERE ARE TIMES THAT I AM NOT SURE THAT I KNOW ME!
IF I MET THEM IN PERSON, IT WOULD TAKE SOME TIME BEFORE I COULD SAY I TRUST THEM OR I KNOW THEM AND MORE TIME TO BE MY FRIEND.
IS UN CONDITIONAL LOVE POSSIBLE OR HEALTHY??? THAT DEPENDS ON YOUR DEFINITION OF UN CONDITIONAL LOVE.
I HAVE A SON THAT I LOVE. I WANT ALL THE BEST FOR HIM. I WEEP TEARS FOR HIM AND YET I DO NOT LIKE HIM. NOR CAN I TRUST HIM. HE IS SELF DESTRUCTIVE AND I CANNOT CHANGE THAT.
BUT I STILL LOVE HIM AND GRIEVE FOR HIM AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP HIM.
HOWEVER MY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TELLS ME TO LEAVE HIM TO HIS OWN. ANYTHING I DO TO HELP HIM WILL ONLY BRING MORE GRIEF AND SADNESS TO ME.
HE IS WHO AND WHAT HE IS AND I CAN NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF PERSON IN MY LIFE OR AROUND ME.
Outoftheorg felt like yelling at ya.
i didn't realize this before.
and before reading crisis of conscience, i had no idea that this was the decision making process used by the governing body.. it's rather ironic that for a group that for decades has so consistently criticized everything about the catholic church, that they would follow this practice.. is this common in other churches and/or corporations?
just curious.
A two thirds vote is quite common in political and commercial situations and some other organizations with large numbers of members and a ruling party.
But these groups usually have the good sense to not claim they are lead by the holy spirit in their decisions. Which makes the whole thing a matter of laughter and disgrace.

hearing about the child molester in glasgow who has been charged but not disfellowshipped did cause me to think a little;.
as an apostate you can be shunned without the need for a jc meeting irrespective of the fact that you might be repentent (not if you have any sense though); however the child molester mentioned hasnt been disfellowshipped!!?
?...if this is true doesnt it clearly highlight the wts f**cked up sense of morals?.
Hi Long Hair Gal.
When where and how did you conjur up "children are of no value to them" ?
That statement hit my mind like a flash of light. I had never thought of this and It answers a few questions as to how I was raised as a child in a jw family and sad to say how I raised my children in a jw family.
I am going to have to sit down and think this out for a while.
Wbts says this is not the time to marry and have children.
If you are married,"this is no time to have children"
Teach your young sons that they must not accept any non combatant military service. That only
prison is acceptable.
Spare the rod ruins the child "beat your baby if they cry during jw teaching sessions".
No blood transfusion "even if your baby dies".
It goes on and on.

imagine trying to prove to someone that firmly believes in leprechauns that they simply don't exist.
where do you start?
an excellent saying i have heard is "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Thanks for your reply JT.
Since you go to the trouble to post a way of viewing life and our relationship to the universe and all that exists, you certainly must believe what you are saying and living.
So I view this as your "belief system".
I do not view it as being the same as what we see in the various religious groups and the way these become ridged, with rules and lots of do and do not and dependence on the legitimacy of ancient tribal books.
Books that were chosen from a group where many were discarded and some chosen for the benefit of a political ruler. Constantine.
What you describe, seems to me to be somewhat like the way the american Indian viewed his life and the earth and animals and a supreme source of all things.
Anyway as time goes by, I find myself drifting towards this direction.
Although I have only had one experience where I felt overwhelmed by the beauty of nature and I had a feeling of love for everything.
Even myself.
