Sad news from Maui

we went to our favorite beach, met up with some of our local friends.

we don't have much in the way of details - but heard some devasting news that ari (well known to seattle area exjw's and i am sure by many on the board) killed himself sometime over last weekend.

he was so excited about moving to maui, and starting a new life here.

I remember Puternut and his posts. Alwas thought he was a rather tender loving kind of guy.

I read these kinds of posts and oscilate between severe anger and sadness. I wonder if his girls and even his ex wife will someday look at their own actions and how this might of had an effect on him?

The wbts won't or can't give a rats ass about what they did to him. And they wonder why we detest the wbts so strongly.

Another loss of life due to the wbts teachings-demands-punitive actions.

Nothing good, seldom if ever at all, comes out of the wbts.

GB led by lawyers?

if all of the men on the gb were born into or raised within the wts walls, it can pretty much means they have been insulated from the real world.

other than the lawyers (who else would have a lot of experience living in the real world?

) who else would be directing what gets printed or not?

Of course it would slowly assemble all the rights of the Marriage.

These same questions are what caused the process of marriage and made it a legal act. Many years ago.

Actually all of these legal documents could be put in a package and delivered in 30 minutes as things are now.

All it takes is a little effort to get it started.

Found some older WTS publications!

i was going through some old boxes in my attic and found some older wts publications, mainly spanning late 60's to 90's, but among those was a couple from the 40's and 50's, but the real scoop was the book 'riches' by none other than jf rutherford!

i'm hoping to witness first hand some of the witnesses flip flops on doctrine.. does anyone know if there is anything significant in this book that i should look out for when reading it?.

All of the civil rights that a marriage has can be given to a homosexual couple also.

A well written will can not be overroade by family connections. It provides all the rights to property that a marriage does and more.

A power of attorney will give you rights just like a wife or husband has in many situations.

A living will gives the partner all the rights needed in medical situations to the partner.

A marriage has always referred to one male and one woman and the expectance of children from this marriage. These children are legally and by relation members of the family and their ancestors.

Homosexuals can not have children unless they adopt or use other sources of semen or eggs.

So acquire your children using one of these two methods. And adopt them using the correct documents .

Homosexuals can have all the rights of married people if they just go after the needed legal documents now.

I don't understand why this cry for the right to MARRIAGE when all the legal sources are in place now to protect them and their partner right now. A contract can be written up in minutes to cover any other questions.

You can even find or make up another descriptive name to use in place of marriage.

Marriage is with a man and a woman. Find another name for homosexual unions and have at it.

Gradually all the rights you have access to already will grow together under this new name as time goes by just as it has with the name "marriage".

Birthdays banned in 1951?

just want to share what i've uncovered on this and verify my conclusion!.

it was my impression that birthdays were banned shortly after christmas was in 1926. the proclaimers book is very vague about this, implying that the ban shortly followed the christmas ban.

i searched the 1940s watchtower magazines and uncovered this blurb in the jan 1, 1940 watchtower, p. 16, under "field experiences": cleveland, ohio: "pardon me for intruding on your precious time, but i just cant help letting you know how much i appreciate the phonograph which came to me on the morning after the 8th, which was my 80th birthday.

Well lets throw this into the stew on this birthday thing.

I was born in 11/27/35 my first clear memories started in 1942 and I recall asking my mother why didn't I have a birthday party like some of the neighbor kids did.

I got the old "well we jw's don't these things that Jehovah doesn't like. Or something to that effect.

Along with we don't celebrate christmas or mothers day and an explanation I can't recall.

So even if the ban on birthday parties were not in print and official, they were being used at that period of time. It may have been a "word of mouth" distribution of and "its a conscience decision".

Sound familiar??

My wife and I go to the salvation army and other charitable stores and she looks for antiques and I look for OLD tools and radio transcievers.

At one time I came across that Little Red book put out by Charley Russel. It had pictures in it and all and was in very good shape. Then I read on the internet where it was worth some money.

I had been df'd before and really angry at the jw's, so I didn't buy it. Decided to go back and buy it and some one had beat to it. Damn I wish I had it now.

I find a lot of the jw books but not many really old ones.

What do you think that LET GOD BE TRUE book is worth??

i never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.

when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.

that is not the case this time.

Damn it Dave. I haven't had the opportunity to meet you personally but I kinda feel like I know you from reading your posts.

I always enjoyed them, even if I disagreed.

There isn't much I could say, that hasn't already been said many times over.

I like the many others will greave your loss when and if you no longer post here.

You can relax and know, that you have been a great source of thought out, very good posts that have helped many people with their questions and doubts.

YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.

Part 2: We Long to Hear These Words

when people are faced with being a victim of a crime or other wrongs, it changes them.

it produces in them the need for accountability.

such victims are told to "forgive" by letting go and that the forgiveness is for their own healing, even if the one causing harm has not shown sorrow or regret.

For me, the wbts can say their sorry and change their ways an beg for forgivness all they want.

It won't change a thing for me. My siblings who shunned me are now dead and gone. The nephews and neices that do not talk to me, have done so for 15 years and it is the same for my so called jw friends.

The hurt is too deep and the time is too long. The marriage they ruined and the shuning from some of my children still hurts.

It is obvious that they will never change, so I want them exposed for who they are and how dangerous and hateful they are. They are what they are, a rabidly hateful cult that deserves the pain of destruction and being displayed for all the world to see.

I don't forget those who hurt me and my family with pleasure and joy and the elders and co's and do's and the gb do take joy and satisfaction in their actions and their power over the members of this cult .

They do not deserve forgivness from me and I am comfortable with that.

when we were faced with tough issues as jws, we used one or more of a few ways to find answers.

we either searched the publications, consulted with an elder, or in some cases, wrote to the society.

After telling him my feelings and what ever of my personal history I wished to divulge, I would tell him that I did not have an answer to his problem.

That there are too many things in a persons memories and beliefs and thoughts "his in this case" that it is impossible for me to know or use to advise you.

That the same things apply to me personally and again does not give me the necessary knowledge or the right to even suggest what you may or may not want to do.
