Even the strongest of "power of attorney" is void when or if the person dies. So it is only useable when you are still alive.A "living" will only controls by giving the named person the right to make sure your medical wishes are respected and carried out when and if you are unable to express your desires. Such as do you want to be kept alive by machines or do you at that point wish to be left alone and pass away. There is more to learn about a living will. SEE AN ATTORNEY.
A will that is "correctly written" will control who does and who does not inherit your possessions.
If you do not want your children to collect. State in your will that YOU MAKE NO PROVISION' for my children. Then state their names and the reason for this decision. Ie" due to their complete lack of interest about me or my well being" or another reason. Also state clearly the name of the person who you DO want to inherit Your belongings. State what they are by "including but(( not limited to))" the following list of your possessions and money accounts and income and savings 401k's and on and on.SEE AN ATTORNEY If property is involved get the legal description and place that in your will. The mailing address will not do. SEE AN ATTORNEY
Also include that any person that contests this will is by that action, removed from the will and will not receive any recognition for inheritance. SEE AN ATTORNEY
A well written TRUST is even more controlling and also more expensive. SEE AN ATTORNEY
Some states have other useful documents but I doubt their effectiveness because of your relationship
such as community property "signed documents" (together) with the community property laws in place"
I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY So do not do this only on my statements here. HIRE AN ATTORNEY.

Well I be damned. What started out as a nice post got a little testy and then it morphed back into a very interesting knowledgeable and respecting trade of thoughts and experiences.
Good on ya.

Well River your next to last post did make some sense.
The last one was a little better.
Yep those few drinks kinda float my mind from time to time.
It takes a MAN to put your last post up.

Yeah MKR a 357 magnum is touch and go with a grizzly. One would have to hit the few right places to stop a Grizzly.
They are so few around here that It is not a real worry but there seems to be a slow increase or migration into this area.
A thirty ought six rifle would be ok.
Yes four or five dogs can hold a grizzly off but even then the Griz. may kill one or two.
What I was referring to is it seems to be a habit or just lack of knowledge that people will show up in the forest with one dog in an area where there are bears and never think of what they are doing.
Just camping out is a very peaceful soothing thing for me anyway and add a little fishing and it won't get much better than that.
But nature being what it is and people being what people are, I think it is foolish to go into the forests unprepared where we are far from medical help and virtually no police presence, with out a way to protect ourself from people or animals who can harm us. Especially the young kids or toddlers.

River you ask if your last post makes any sense?
No it does not.
Large bears are mentioned. In my area we only have black bears and they seldom attack humans. But it has happened. I have had them take a metal can of meat and tear it open with their teeth. A 38 pistol with the correct bullets will usually handle a black bear if it attacks.
If there are Grizzly bears in the area, they will attack humans and they are deadly. This is when I will carry a 357 magnum and if slowly backing away does not calm them down and they charge I will shoot.
Never have a dog in areas where bears are. They have the nasty habit of finding a bear and teasing it until it charges the dog. Then the dog will run back to you for safety and brings the bear with him.

Innocent until proven guilty...or really the other way round?
by FreedomFrog inok, most of the criminals do need to be put away, but there are some out there that get trapped into a situation and had to spend time in prison for a crime they didn't commit.
some are held without bail until trial.
on cnn about the jonbenet's case they stated '"john karr is presumed innocent," she said, adding that investigators had "much more work" to do and urging people not to rush to judgment.

If you want to experience the real Guilty until proven Innocent and its difference to legal actions taken for felonies in the USA , Go down to Mexico and get dragged into their legal operations.
You will fall into love for the system used in the USA.

Hi Justice One.Sounds like you were not too far from where I live. SW Idaho near Ontario Oregon. I and my wife were camping out one time at Anthony lake near Baker City Oregon. I got up to go to the "out house" in the night and took my 38 police revolver with me. Glad I did because I encountered a rather large Couger about 4 feet away.
It looked at me for a second and then ran off. I was beginning to cock and aim the gun when it took off.
There has been a few Couger attacks in this area. Another one was a Sheriffs deputy was hunting Elk and his calls to arouse the Elk, brought a couger to within the 18 ft. which a couger can jump. The deputy got his pistol out and shot it while it was about 1/2 way to hitting the deputy.
Then he had to call the Fish and game dept to explain his kill.
When I am in the forests I am always armed. More so for dealing with murderous people than the animals. Probably a left over from having been a Sherrifs deputy in So. Calif. I have hunted in the past but just faded away over time and now I only fish. By the way, I would not have shot this Couger unless I was sure he was an imminent threat to me or someone else.

I think it depends on WHY are we leaving, what is it we want to leave behind and will any of this change just because of the moving.
I moved once and found the problem went with me.
Take some time to think these things through and be sure that moving away will do what you want,

by hambeak ini am angry because my adult children who are active jw's think i should be dead or suffer for not being a witness and i supported them comfortably and they shunned me and show hate i am sad and probably won't do the chemo thing and just let nature take its course.

Hambeak You have been given very good information and ideas from Scully and all the others.Your illness is( one of the cancers that many people survive). If they take the chemo.
It is your life, so you can do what you want. But I'll be damned if I would let the hateful behavior of my children or any one else determine how long I will live or what treatments I might take.
Stay away from people that treat you like your children. Go to your friends and the doctors and the people on this forum. These people will have no issues about you and or your beliefs or the partner you choose.
Be strong and push the bull shit aside. Live your life and consider your partner and what effects this is having on him. No one is going to be happy if you die but many will be happy if you try hard and survive this damned cancer.
Outoftheorg
If you do nothing, there will be a storm of sadness and grief when you do die.
You owe it to your partner and us and most of all yourself, to fight this battle .
If you are worried about who receives your property etc, if you die, go to an attorney and get a trust or a will that can not be challenged and leave your belongings with your partner.
