I Have A Phycological Problem.

recently, for a couple of months i have been nostalgic, thinking about my past.

i have visited places where i grew up, my grandparents old homeplace, the place where i was born, the old part of town where my parents used to shop, etc.

things sort of seem sureal sometimes.

You don't really give enough information to work with here. Some of what you spoke sounds like the swoon like feeling from low blood sugar level or very low blood pressure.

Some of it sounds like a mild anxiety attack, or the early onset of depression.

If it were happening to me I would go to my medical doctor and get an examination.

If nothing is found I would see a Psychiatrist.MD.

I would not go to my elders for help. he he.

Sorry you have these worries. No one really needs more to deal with in life than life itself. Life itself is difficult enough when it is going along somewhat normal.

hello, i am new to this board in a way.

i have been reading messages for about a month now and just got the nerve up to register an account so i can give my "two cents" once in a while.

i was raised a jw, but just recently expressed openly that i do not have plans on associating with them any longer.. anyways, not going to type my story out right now, as i do not know if any one wants to hear it.

is there anything that could make you go back?.

what do you think, is there any change of belief or change of circumstance that could make you return to the jw fold?.

i cant see anything that could make me go back,but i was thinking mabye some of you religious types would go back if they changed some doctrinal things,or if they stopped banning blood.. how about if a family member was dying and hoped to see you in paradise would you go back for a while just to make them feel happy?

YES, under one condition. If, "and god knows I wouldn't want this to happen", but if I became mentally ill with a severe case of alsheimers and was drooling and crapping/peeing my pants and gurgeling and cursing I would let my ex wife, bless her heart, take me to every meeting.

In fact I think I will put that in my will!

we've just got back from out holidays after travelling with 2 young kids for 24+ hours and logged on to see the same old people complaining about the same old things with the same worn out arguments.. the topics seem to be along the lines of:posters should be allowed to say anything they want.we want absolute free speech and seem to be under the mistaken illusion that the usa has it.there is mass moderation happening on this forum and censorship is rife.

... and so on.. all of these claims are utter crap as far as i am concerned.. now, i am not going to put up with people trying to stir things up and interfere with the majority of posters who want to use this forum properly and see me and moderation as the main topic of conversation.. keep harping on and you will be deleted.

I read where you have been on vacation with the family. Hope you and the family had a good time.Sorry you had to come back to some controversy on your forum.

Regarding the mentions of freedom of speech in the USA .While it is true that we have a history of freedom of speech, there are some limits. I have been the manager of several businesses and owned my own business and was at one time a Sheriffs deputy.

In all of these settings there were persons who tended to use profanity in their speech. I was one of these persons. While it is acceptable here in the USA when the conversation is between two people and private it is not acceptable in the work place or in dealing with the general public. Those who do so in public are looked upon as crude, and uneducated.

It is in fact a legitimate reason for an employer to terminate an employee. This is is also true in the event of a history of verbal attacts on another employee or a customer.

Personally, although I, when aggravated can and have cursed like the proverbial sailor, I know from experience that to do so makes me look smaller and less acceptable to the people around me.

I do have some concerns that the typical HYPER GOODY TWO SHOES type of viewer on this forum may be turned away from this valuable information if they encounter a lot of profanities.

Hyper goody two shoes fits my description of the average jw. They have been programed to turn away from overt signs of profanity and to accept the greater evils of the wbts such as child abuse etc. We deal with strange viewers here from that perspective. I would like them to linger long enough to recieve some of the seeds of doubt, rather than turn away in a "its all profane apostates" assumption.

Its your forum, I see no reason for you to not establish some guidelines and require us to follow them.

Hello Mr. Bowen;

I have read many of your posts and those posts about you. This is the first time I have responded to one. It has given me pleasure to see you succeed in your efforts up to this point. I assume that this is the beginning of the next steps rather than the end. It will probably get more difficult as time goes on. I and all the others here I am sure, wish you well and will support you in any way we can.

I have come to believe that the wbts will never accept any internal changes in policies such as the policy on child abuse, blood issues, disfellowshipping. I think these things will only be solved or cleared away by the collapse of the wbts. If not total at least to a great degree.

I have wondered about how you and others are thinking about this issue. Do you and others think differently or do you also think this is the only answer?

This is bound to be a time of very mixed feelings of elation and sorrow at how things had to work out. Be assured that you have the full respect of many many people. They all realize the burden this has been on you and your family and yourself. You are a brave man and deserve all the respect you have coming your way.

Look after yourself and your family in emotional and spiritual areas. This was truly a job well done. I and all others here wish you and your family the best of things this life has to offer.

DO U BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER DEATH?

even though we were all raised with the firm doctrine that absolutely nothing happens to you after death, (except for those baptized before 1935 of course), does anyone here think that maybe something does happen after we die?

i've seen some programs about people that have reported having near death experiences.

while this doesn't offer proof, i find it very strange that one individual, during her nde, repeated a conversation she heard on an entirely different floor in the hospital while she was clinically dead.

Well Boys & Girls--I don't have a clue.

I am aware of the stories of near death experiences and I am also aware of the fact that many things told to support a beloved belief or wish are not always true. But some may be. Which ones?

I am aware of the ghost stories and again aware they are not necessarly true. Is the animals reaction truly to the aparition or to the animals owners reaction of terror. Animals are more tuned in to their owners fears etc. than to the other person.

I am aware of what is stated in the bible and am also aware of the fact that it consists of a compilation of books available at the time of Constantine. Also that existing political issues and needs had a great part in the selection of which books were included and not included. So do I believe the bible with out question? No.

I would love to believe there is an afterlife of some kind. Not hell of course! Out of body experiences do seem to have some believeable aspects. But again which ones. It is said that the military in the USA and Russia experimented with some success.

Some eastern religions and others support reincarnation. I could go for that, if I didn't come back as a frog.

Life after death is as craved for as cold water on the desert.

I am with those of you who want to wait it out, do our best in life and see what happens. I didn't fear death or armageddon while in the borg and even less now. I never was a dogmatic believer, always had some of the above bouncing around in my head. Due to having an analytical assessing personality This made being a jw a very confusing irritable life.

August KM Fall Out

i'm curious to know if anyone has noticed different behavior from their dub family and friends since the aug. km about disfellowshipped ones.

i've noticed that my mother is no longer emailing me, nor is she responding to my emails.

i really wish that she would just come out directly and state that she will no longer talk to me instead of just ignoring everything, thinking i will go away.

Writerpen; Isn't it a good feeling to finally be free of the manipulating attempts of others. The wbts teaches and uses this method and others to control the members.

I know some might disagree with what I did. But early on I notified some of the more hardened relatives that they were excomunicated from me by me and not to attempt any contact. I told them I was taking this action in response to their conduct towards me.

I knew I would lose them anyway and thought this might make other family members aware that they may recieve this action although not stated.

I also had about a year of therapy and I think I read almost every book published on mental health. This convinced me that we all need to truly detatch from our parents and others and become fully functional independant individuals. In so doing we remove the dysfunctional, manipulative, controling, irrational people from our circle of associates. This includes family.

I also can recall the sudden feeling of lightness of spirit this brought about. What a new way to live! What a new way to associate with other humans. On a fully free equal way! No need to please others by doing what we really do not want to be doing. To feel good about ourself without the praise of others. Even if the praise is earned or not. To still feel good if others try to put us down or try to make us feel less than acceptable.{ favorite wbts tactic}

We can do all this because we are now loving and proud of ourselves as we are to others. We can now think for ourselves without any proding or direction from an organization. We can to to several sources of information and find what we need to know and accept it only if we want to!

I am carrying on too long here. Couldn't help it. Your post brought back all the flood of good memories of that time and that life change for me.

Abuse Myth

when you have the "who is the poster you like least competition" i know this post will enable you to choose gravedancer as a prime candidate but tfb here goes:.

it would seem as if everyone here is convinced that the organization of jehovah's witnesses is rife with molestors and they are raping kids at every juncture and every chance they get.

perhaps with the latest attention silentlambs has been getting this issue is just more prevalent but the reactions of some seem so stooped in personal bitterness that they are willing to just blindly accuse any jw of being a molestor (even when they know nothing else about that person other than the person is a jw).. true i agree 110% that the policy of the 2 witness rule needs to be changed immediately and victims should be encouraged to go to the police.

I am with OZ on this issue.

I know of one elder who had 5 sisters accuse him of improper sexual conduct "abuse". One was my daughter another a non jw 2nd cousin to my daughter.

Notified the elders and what was done? Nothing. This elder pranced around anouncing that he had been completely exonerated.

I fully expect some of this conduct to happen in any organization or religion. As they are only a mirror of society as a whole. Regardless of what the wbts says about the righteousness of the body of jehovah's witnesses

What troubles me so, is the refusal to acknowledge the problem or to recognize the complete failure of the wbts to cope with the problem of Sexual abuse in the organization.

But most of all, I am troubled by the arrogant, hateful, response and actions they take toward those who are brave enough to expose them for what they are. A self appointed holier than thou bunch of men who it seems have no ability to accept the fact that they have by their actions or lack of action caused great trauma and injustice to victims of sexual abuse. and need to step up like the God fearing christian they claim to be and APOLOGIZE for their inability to see the need and deal with it a long time ago.

I believe it is these frustrations, THIS HURT, that I see in my daughter and in myself that causes some if not all of us here to seem a bit fanatic or over the edge at times. There is nothing as frustrating and angering as watching the powerful abuse and use the helpless and scoff at actions to stop this conduct. Also not only scoff but to say things like "we don't change for anybody". Would that make you go over the edge?
