  Watchtower Reformation's Grand Climax

  each successor to the watchtower estate from rutherford onward has virtually reformed the organization.. rutherford was an attorney for the society and court judge.

  like modern-day reformers he didn't like the direction the watchtower was going, and staged a corporate takeover.

  chaos reigned at bethel when the brothers split into two religions.

  Thanks Derrick, an interesting look into the early origins of the wbts.

  Using the present truth thinking of the wbts one could call them Apostates. This would be true since they abandoned the original founders teachings and substituted theirs instead. That is Apostasy as the wbts explains it.

  Since the original church is still in existance and apostates are such terrible people, the world as a group should not have anything to do with the wbts and make a full effort to expose their apostasy as well as their demonic practices such as df'ing&deaths due to blood policy etc.etc.etc.

  What a tangled web the wbts has wove since they took over the Russelites and made a drunken lawyer their lord and master.

  Looks like a subtle change of personality going on here. Ignore that comment I couldn't think of anything cute to say so I am stuck with this.

  I understand and agree with your take on the flame war going on.

  I might post my feelings except I have nothing helpful to post to the flame war threads. I have no proof one way or the other on these issues and I don't think many others do either. It seems like a waste of time and emotional energy to me. I read some of them and think to myself "I couldn't care a rats a## " about a lot of these issues. Why are some here so riled up about them?

  I guess if we just hang around long enough it will all die down.

  Sorry to hear about the struggles with your mother versus sister and attempts to make you the referee. Family dynamics, don't you love them?

  ANYONE TRY HYPNOSIS?

  i'm considering trying hypnosis to help me win my everlasting battle with weight, but naturally i have feelings of guilt because we were told as jws that we cannot use hypnosis....... .

  anyway, has anyone here ever tried hypnosis?

  i would be interested in hearing if it helped you at all.

  Hi Guys.

  I had a problem once and tried hypnosis. I think I started to go under and had a strange feeling like a wave rolling across the inside of my head and it startled me and I did not go under. The hypnotist tried a couple of more times and then got angry with me because it wouldn't work. Almost threw me out of the office. This pissed me off and I let him know about it.

  Haven't tried it again. But many I have known had good to no success. No one that I know got bit by a rabid demon. So give it a try.

  Very interesting information! Glad it was brought back to our attention.

  Critical mass as refered to in some settings is that point reached that then results in an explosion of disasterous energy.

  As in atomic/nuclear bombs.

  Sorry to hear of your loss. Things like this are so heart rending. It brings tears to my eyes.

  I think Beenthere and Skully have some good advice for you along with all the other posters.

  I think you should consider writing a card or letter explaining your grief over the loss of your niece and send it to your brother. A phone call would also be a good decent thing to do. As I see it the card can always be reread several times by your brother and your feelings thereon may touch his heart and get him to ease up on his shunning of you. I don't see that it would make matters worse in any way.

  Be the better person in this situation and let them see it. Knowing the jw's and their shallow acts of caring, this card/letter may be the only one he gets.

  Why Is Smoking A Disfellowshipping Offense?

  the main reason given in the 1973 watchtower was that smoking is tied in with spiritism because the greek word which is rendered as spiritism is pharmakia' which literally means "druggery," (see galatians 5:20.

  ) therefore the argument was made that by smoking we put ourselves under spiritistic or demonic control.

  for the last 20 years i haven't heard this reason used.. today the reasons given are that smoking shows no respect for your body as well as for life and that smoking doesn't show love of neighbor.

  Two or three times a week, in the evening, I sit on the patio with a nice cigar and a glass of wine. With my wife and we talk and relax. I usually have this little grin on my face and my wife asks me about this. I have tried to explain the j'dub cult to her before and it is not easy for her to grasp that they really do things like df one for smoking.

  So the smile remains as I ponder the confused and tortured lives that the jw's live and I no longer do. What a relief and satisfying life there is once one gets out of the cult.

  I no longer try to understand their strange stand on smoking. I just smoke my cigar and grin.

  Sadly I must agree with pathofthorns. The more you try with some, the stauncher they become in their beliefs.

  At least there is contact with your mom, be happy with that and let it be.

  There is always the possibility that something else will catch her eye and solve the pboblem for you.

  i was listening to this today and it got me thinking........... i have decided that i will no longer be contributing to this forum.... at least for the meantime.

  this forum has helped me in every way that i need to be helped, and for that i thank everyone who played a part in this.. i guess i have achieved my goal now.

  Speeding ticket!

  ok...i havn't been able to catch up on my payments on my insurance..so most likely it's expired...but i recieved a speeding ticket...and i'm screwed!

  ...does anyone know what would happen if i didn't have insurance for my car?

  ..is it going to get towed?

  Oh Shadows.

  One thing slipped my mind. Most states require a patrol cars speedometer to be certified. That is checked and certified as accurate every 6 months or some thing close to that. It may differ from state to state.

  Anyway you at court could ask for proof of up to date certification on the patrol cars speedometer. This also applies to radar and other speed detecting instruments. If the officer can not produce an up to date certification of accuracy for his equipment "not his the cars" and any instruments-- you know what I mean. Then the accusation by the officer may be thrown out of court.
