Is anyone here hooked on Downton Abbey?
by exwhyzee inmy wife got me started watching this show last year.
we've downloaded the previous seasons on netflix and have found it to be really well done.
the story line, scenery, costumes, old cars and compelling characters have us hooked.

I loved the show the first time I watched it. Surpsisingly my husband enjoys it too. I love the costumes and pretty much any of Violet's lines.

I was reading a local paper in CT about 10 years ago wherein an African American woman named Jehovah was pictured in an article. The elders thought it must have been a mistake because Jehovah wouldn't allow His name to be used by a mere mortal.

Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

What's you BIGGEST pet peeve/disagreement with the WT or GB?!?
by TeenageInsider infor me its the district conventions.
not bragging in anyway, but i was born-into a family of 'higher ups' im talking co's and zo's..... and there is a room that they set up in the conventions/stadiums called the "chairmans office".
i always have access to these rooms, because im usually with one of my higher up family members who give talks and all that other crap.. anyways, while everyone in the convention is sitting in the sun, eating a slimy, soggy bolognia sandwich, the chairmans office is air conditioned, has a variety of chilled beverages, 'coke, pepsi, diet coke, gatorade, dasani water bottles,' not to mention the 'danishes, sandwich triangles, cookies, cakes, muffins, fresh coffee, and for lunch, pizza, salads, pastas, and lasagna'.

I didn't like how the same rules didn't apply to everyone. If your dad was an elder or you gave a lot of money you could get away with anything. I also hated how women were treated as second class citizens.

I felt bad for kids who got baptized at 9,10,11 before they knew any better and then their hormones kicked in then did something to get DF'd. They were cut off from everyone important in their lives because they got baptized. Another case that bothered me was that of a lonely, divorced woman who was taking care of her elderly ailing father and her daughter just moved out and married. She started drinking heavily and was DF'd for drunkenness. I thought it was awful since she had no one else and her life was falling apart - what motivation did she have to stop drinking at that point? Never liked the policy but I didn't openly go against it since I didn't want to get hauled in the back room.
